Nestled in the heart of the city, Thompson Madrid by Hyatt is hailed for its prime location, making major attractions easily accessible for guests. The hotel's ambiance resonates with sophistication and style, particularly noted in its tranquil rooftop and elegantly appointed rooms. While the service is predominantly praised for being attentive and professional, there have been occasional reports of slower responses.
Rooms are celebrated for their modern charm and comfort, yet opinions on their cost and space vary. The hotel's overall cleanliness and luxury amenities receive accolades, although some guests mention the rooftop pool can feel overcrowded. Despite the positive feedback, the value proposition has been critiqued, with some travelers finding the hotel overpriced when considering additional costs.

I stayed 3 days in this hotel with my family, we had a room on the 5th floor with a view of the roofs of the city, and another with a view inside. The location of the hotel is super central just 10 minutes from the royal palace and an equal 10 minute walk from the main museums (thyssen bormiza and the prado). The hotel staff is young and super qualified. Always ready to satisfy every need. The rooms are large technological and well equipped. There is also a room fragrance as a gift for the hotel guest. The bathroom is new in black marble and crystal with a beautiful spacious shower that turns on with the button. Breakfast in the Omar restaurant is delicious, served a la carte with home-made bread and croissants. I would recommend this hotel and this type of chain because it offers excellent value for money and impeccable service.

If there was one thing Thompson Madrid can offer best, it was their location. Situated in a prime location, it was just a short walk from many of Madrid’s main attractions, such as the Gran Vía, the Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and the Prado Museum. This made it an ideal base for sightseeing for our family of four.
We booked two King Bed rooms with Terrace and City View. A small bottle of olive oil and an elegantly-wrapped sumptuous muffin greeted us as our welcome amenity. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed and designed for comfort with plush bedding, sleek furniture, and high-end amenities like rain showers, premium toiletries, robes and slippers. The aesthetic of the decor and furnishings were both chic and inviting, which made it a perfect fit for us as we appreciate a tinge of luxury with a relaxed, modern atmosphere.
The staff was very professional, friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. We had a small issue with our reservation and the receptionist resolved it for us immediately.
Breakfast was served in the lobby, as the hotel was fully-booked during the holidays when we stayed there. We actually preferred it since the lobby was more spacious and cozy. We were served the traditional Spanish tapas and a bountiful menu showcasing local and international cuisine. My favorite was the fresh garlic and tomato being manually rubbed onto a piece of toast!
Thompson Madrid is a great choice for those seeking a blend of comfort, style, and central location. Whether you’re in Madrid for leisure or business, the hotel’s modern amenities, excellent service, and chic atmosphere make it an ideal place to stay. Its location is especially appealing for visitors looking to explore the city’s top cultural and historical sites.

The staff was very kind and welcoming, and they were gracious enough to speak English with us (my Spanish speaking skills are not great). We arrived in the morning, and the staff was able to find us a room well before the 3pm standard check in time. We had a corner suite on the 7th floor that was absolutely gorgeous, and very well stocked with necessities, including bottles of water that were replenished daily. The natural light and views of the city were fantastic, but their were also automatic blackout shades on the windows which allowed for great quality sleep. The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating for the entirety of our stay. The location, right on Plaza del Carmen was very convenient for walking to all points of interest in the city.

This hotel looks nice on the inside but it’s extremely expensive (I paid over euro700 a night) for a cramped room with what was described as having a balcony, which wasn’t even big enough to put a chair on it. The hotel overlooks a square which should be nice but currently is a building site and the workmen start drilling at 620am, which wakes you up. The staff on reception are amateurs and don’t know what customer service is. The breakfast is good but again the staff are not very friendly or attentive, one day I had to wait ten mins for a table and the further ten mins for the waitress to be bothered to take my order. Rooftop pool area is nice but very small and was overcrowded every day I was there; I had to sit on a high stool in the bar one day as all chairs and loungers were taken. The WiFi cuts out every 45 minutes by design as they said they want to reduce traffic but this is very annoying if you are doing work calls that last more than an hour. Overall I would not stay here again. For that price level and indeed any hotel I expect something special and this hotel did not deliver. The management need to re-train all of its staff in customer service, they should also be embarrassed with what they’re offering , very disappointing and sad.

This hotel is simply phenomenal. From the moment we arrived, the experience was first class. We were greeted by a friendly staff that raced to take our bags. The check in experience was smooth and brisk. They gave us a welcome drink and pastry to take the edge off after a long flight. The staff made us feel at home from the moment we walked through the doors.
The rooms are incredibly well designed and functional. Warm colors and wood tones combine to create a very comforting aesthetic in the space. The lights fixtures and switches are sleek and well positioned for convenience and function. The bathroom has hard stone surfaces throughout, allowing the bathroom and shower to become seamlessly integrated in the space. The plumbing fixtures are brass plated Grohe brand and the shower has a push button start to begin your rain-head shower experience. It’s just perfection from start to finish.
Finally, the location of the hotel can not be understated. It is a short walk from Sol (one of the main downtown plazas in Madrid), which also provides convenient access to a multi-line metro stop. Walk-able streets abound with endless shops and restaurants surrounding the hotel.
Special shout out to David and Lenny for making our stay extra memorable. They were kind, helpful, and accommodating. The next time we come to Madrid, we will certainly be back to Thompson!

The hotel is well-situated and looks very nice at first glance. The lobby bar is pretty and the location is decent. However - this simply is not a five star hotel. This would probably pass the smell test for a 4-star boutique, but nothing more. The Thompson Madrid is a clumsy, borderline amateur take on luxury.
Breakfast: There's 175 rooms in this hotel, and the breakfast space has room for approximately 15 tables. They squish additional tables in to try to seat more people, but it becomes terribly cramped. There's an island in the middle with a few Nespresso machines and there's an attendant manning them to make coffee for everyone, which feels and looks...like something in a 3-star hotel lobby? When we were finally seated our first morning, it took us 30 minutes (not exaggerating) to get our *coffee*. Not even our breakfast. The service here is terrible.
Gym: There's a gym attendant // trainer who entered the gym promptly after I started working out (it was just two of us - no other guests present). He was hovering the whole time I was there. At one point, he interrupted my work-out to tell me that I was doing an exercise wrong. I was shocked by this! The entire experience was weird and made it feel like I was being watched.
Room: You'll need to bring earplugs if you want to sleep. The hotel is situated on a plaza that's under construction for another year. At night, the restaurants below are very loud and you can hear it through the windows. The bathroom is fine, though the door to the toilet turns fully inward and only partially outward (poor hinge design).
Overall, every encounter I had with the hotel staff made it feel like there's been very little training, if any. The hotel feels disorganized. My parents had hotel staff knock on their door three times the first evening with random papers, then they walked away each time confused (it wasn't turndown service). I called from my room to the restaurant to ask about the Christmas brunch, and the waiter on the phone was a bit rude and almost sounded confused. Check-in took us around 10 minutes.
I was disappointed by my stay at the Thompson. If my expectations were set on a 3 or a 4 star experience, I'd be annoyed but wouldn't make a fuss. But if you want to stay somewhere nice that actually feels nice, stay elsewhere.

I cannot recommend this property highly enough - a fabulously appointed boutique hotel, ideally located in the heart of downtown Madrid and within easy walking distance of all of the major tourist attractions, bars and restaurants. A perfect location if you want to be in the middle of it.
Madrid is a late-night city and this is a busy area but we were very surprised how well insulated the hotel is from noise, we slept extremely well. The staff are all fabulous, they always anticipated our every need and were constantly willing to go the extra mile to ensure guest satisfaction.
Would we return? Absolutely, we're already planning another long-weekend....

I think the inconvenience of the construction and inaccessibility is factored into the cost because at the price we paid, the hotel was a great value. The rooms ares an absolute gem. The sleep quality + shower felt like we were in a Mandarin Oriental or St. Regis which are hotels that are several categories higher. Breakfasts were good, although the service could have been better. The attendants seem to be all over the place. The gym was nice. Nice rooftop + pool as well, although it felt a bit crowded. It's not the best location in Madrid for sure but the metro was nearby and there are several attractions within walking distance. Room service was great. Overall no complaints

We just came back from 4 days in Madrid, staying at the Thompson hotel. Everything from the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out was exceptional! Yes, the plaza Carmen where the property is located is under construction so it made getting in and out of the hotel a tiny bit inconvenient (our son was on crutches), but the hotel did everything to help make it easy. We never heard any of the construction so that wasn’t a bother for us. The service was impeccable from each and every person we encountered, especially the lobby bartender, the woman who served us breakfast each day, and the man at the pool who helps you find seats. Everyone was also so accommodating and helpful with our son who had a broken leg and was on crutches half of the time and a wheelchair the other. I had communicated with the hotel prior to our stay about my son’s situation (I had ordered a wheelchair to be delivered) and they put my kids in an accessible room without me even asking. That was huge for us - there was a seat in the shower and it made it so easy for my son to shower. And speaking of the rooms and other areas in the hotel - they were perfection! Highly recommend staying at the Thompson Madrid - especially in the summer when you can use the roof top pool to cool down.

My friend and I just completed a three night stay at the Thompson Madrid. We could not have been happier with our experience! We arrived tired after an overnight flight from the US. Romane at the front desk greeted us warmly with juice, water, and pastries and offered us the option to shower in the hotel gym bathroom while our room was being prepared. She was so friendly and kind and made us feel very welcome. The room was beautiful - perfectly quiet, cold A/C, comfortable bed and pillows, fantastic shower. The location is an easy walk to almost anything and the rooftop pool/bar is a nice option as well. There are tons of shops and restaurants in the surrounding neighborhood. Hands down the best part of this hotel is the staff. They made us feel so welcome from the minute we arrived until the end of our stay. Every single person we interacted with was kind, welcoming, and helpful. I would absolutely stay again next time I'm in Madrid and recommend this hotel to anyone.

I doubt that this is permitted in five stat hotels.
Maybe in some beaches but I don’t think in hotels.
But you can contact the very responsive concierge
