This place is not an hotel nor a hostel, as indicated on TripAdvisor site. It is just a grand-mother house sudivided in hundreds of minuscule rooms for making fun of tourists! It can be good for a very short stay, but the price is a total rip-off! The room was a cubbyhole, no internet network at all (oppositely as told...

Stayed here for 4 night with a friend and my impression was just average. This looks like a family run hotel and the staffs are very friendly but unfortunately they don't speak much of English so communication was a problem. The room was reasonable good size and clean, but the building was quite old. The only drawback was during my...

I loved this hotel. It's on a very noisy street in a central location, but where in Madrid isn't noisy at night, and with their balconies the rooms have a front row seat where you can watch the action. Staff were friendly and the double room was immaculately clean, and a good size at a very reasonable rate. The bed...

Price was cheap for the location, it's walkable distance to mostly everywhere! The room was decent, clean and big. The only down side was one day we wanted a lie in, but the staff came and said they need to fix something in the toilet. So we felt like we got kicked out of our room. But it was fine...

Lovely staff Great location. Just off las ramblas. Good size room. Beds could be firmer. Bathroom and shower good. Room clean. The view was not great. Was facing the back with lots of messy balconies. A bit noisy at times due to an inconsiderate next door guest talking on his phone with door open all day long.

Perfect overnight stay. The hostal is clean and good value. Staff are very friendly but speak very little English. We had a triple room and late check in was not a problem.I would stay here again when in madrid

Close to metro station Atocha so you can walk to the hotel easily. Single room looks spartan but good for a place to sleep. Very reasonable price for private room with ensuite bathroom and basic amenities. Clean. Wifi signal was weak and I had to stay close to the window to get connected.

We were stayed for 4 nights. The transportation is great, but this caused that it is in noisy area (needed earplug until 12-1 AM). There is one toilet and one bathroom (+1 toilet), it has ca. 5-6 rooms. The room was tiny, however the other rooms seems bigger. The host was friendly and nice. Every day they cleaned our room...

I went to Madrid and stayed in here for three nights, the owner is very friendly and professional. She received us very early in the morning despite the check in was at midday. She was very attentive and everything was very clean. The room was good enough but quite cold. The hostal is located in a good zone near to...

The owner/manager or whatever she is, is an absolute witch. We arrived just after midnight which we specifically put down as our estimated arrival time when booking. First she tells us there is no booking under our name even when I have show her our reservation number etc. She took us into the office and right on the screen is...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
