The room was very clean. Also, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The location was good, as the hotel is in the center and is closed to everything, but it wasn't noisy. All in all everything was great.

My room was in the attic (fourth floor) don't bring lots of luggage. It is very convenient and close to everything, El Prado Museum, Plaza Santa Ana happening place, and a short walk to Puerta del Sol. Close to metro too, Antón Martín. The room I got was in the attic, la buhardilla, it was nice and comfy bed and...

Was there for a rugby trip and teammates were staying nearby. I needed cheap and convenient, and this hotel provided. The bath was a bit grim but clean. I wouldn't recommend for a romantic get away, but for basics it was fine. Street noise was mostly minimised by large wooden doors that blocked windows.

Myself and a group of frinds stayed here over a long weekend. At 29 Euros per person per night for a twin room, we weren't expecting much. However, the room was large enough, very clean, had a large ensuite with everything you would need, a balcony overlooking the quiet road outside and is in central Madrid. Staff were friendly and...

The Hostal Lisboa is well located for a visit to Madrid. Virtually all of the city's major attractions are within walking distance, and public transit is close by for anything else. The location is the Lisboa's primary feature, and beyond that it is a basic property that is easy on the budget. Service at the reception desk is invariably polite...

The location is fantastic, very close to the galleries, Retiro Park, Plaza Santa Anna. Room clean, dated, but fine for a cheap and comfortable sleep. The 'balcony' was completely taken up by the air conditioner, could not even stand on it. The shower head was broken. There are no facilities downstairs - no lobby area, bar, dining room - so...

I have been staying at the Hotel Residencia Lisboa since 2000. It is the perfect place to stay in Madrid. Just a few steps from Plaza Sant'Ana, in the middle of the night scene of Madrid. Less than a mile to Plaza Mayor even closer to the Prado. The rooms are clean. They have just installed new bathroom hardware. The...

So, let me firstly say that as far as places to stay goes, this place was fine but my experience with the old doorman tarnished this place for me. I was in Madrid, visiting some old friends and decided to stay near the center. The plan was to go out, meet up with a few buddies, have a few drinks...

Hotel Lisboa could use some redecorating and some renovation, but it sits in a great location and is very comfy for the price. Hotel staff is a bit reserved but quite knowledgeable and will help if requested. Little had changed from when we previously stayed there in 2006, but that was a good thing in many respects. When vacationing, we...

Great location on a quiet street, not far from Plaza Sol and Plaza Santa Ana. Fifteen restaurants representing about nine different cuisines are within a few steps of the hotel. Room and bathroom were clean, bed comfortable (if a little short). Loud neighbors were a bother, but the concierge was helpful in contacting them. WiFi didn't reach my room but...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
