Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

The Madrid EDITION, nestled in the heart of the city, wins over guests with its spotless surroundings and impeccable cleanliness. Its central location earns high marks for convenience, and the rooftop pool and culinary offerings are often celebrated in reviews. While the hotel's modern aesthetic draws praise, some visitors have noted noise and practicality concerns.
The service, though generally regarded as attentive, occasionally receives criticism for disorganization. Despite the modern, comfortable rooms, a number of guests feel the hotel doesn't provide sufficient value for the cost.

Detailed Reviews
Being in the hospitality industry and having worked for this specific company the edition brand is in, I must admit that this is one of the finest hotels I have stayed in.
The property is located in a perfect location in the center of Madrid the lobby is welcoming buzzing with a lovely bar and the smell of the hotel perfume will make you want to go to the boutique directly.
The twin rooms are absolutely breathtaking the design is fantastic and you have two queen beds with the utmost comfort , everything in the room is up-to-date with speakers USBs next to the bed a full minibar and all the amenities needed a perfect stay
The rooftop pool is unique in the center of Madrid to have this kind of food is very hard to find, a beautiful restaurant as well with fantastic decor, we haven’t tried it however next time we definitely will.
Last but not least the staff is exceptionally trained they’ve done their homework perfectly! The hotel opened just months ago , calling me by name every time I needed something repeating their personal name as well if I needed anything in the future and always smiling while providing a great service.
A small downside, We requested the bellboy to come pick the luggage up and waited over 20 minutes.
The prices are quite heavy but this is the future of hospitality trendy fun quirky with exceptional service.

I had a hard time choosing between the 3 premium hotels in the city (4Seasons, Mandarin, and Edition), and I'm very happy I decided to go with the Edition. I love the clean, modern look and everything was shiny and new. The rooms are large and well appointed, the bed was super comfy, and the towels were fluffy, plentiful, and smelled great (I'm super anal about towels). Lastly, and most importantly, the staff was incredibly welcoming, eager to help, and always greeted me with big smiles. They really elevated the experience for me and are the reason I will absolutely visit this hotel again.
I also stopped by their signature restaurant Jeronimo for lunch, and as a Southern California native I give the Mexican food here my seal of approval. The staff here was also very attentive, talented, and friendly. Be sure to try their guacamole, its so good!

We've stayed in our fair share of outstanding hotels around the globe, but the Edition Madrid is truly in a league of its own.
The hotel interior and lobby have a great vibe and cocktail scene, the food and beverage offerings are outstanding (particularly Jéronimos Mexican), and the rooftop pool has hardworking staff who will find you that perfect spot in the sun or the shade.
Overall we found the Edition Madrid staff to be proactive, often anticipating a need for a taxi, a drink or an amenity without us ever asking. "Le Labo" soaps, shampoos and lotions are offered in the rooms and suites, as are fluffy hooded robes and very comfortable beds, and the hotel's location is in the best part of central Madrid.
We seriously cannot wait to return.

Madrid has recently become a very competitive hotel scene with all the five star properties charging the same rates to the penny, so while I am accustomed to staying elsewhere, for the sake of change, I decided to try the Edition.
First off I’ll note the entrance is wrong on Uber, the hotel has two entrances, one upstairs on a plaza where cars have difficulty accessing (the default location) and one around the corner a level down on a side street (no signage). So I ended up having to schlep my luggage across a plaza and up a flight of stairs since I was at the wrong entrance.
Staff was friendly at front desk, and was upgraded to a corner room, however it’s deceiving bc the corner is shared with the building next door and doesn’t offer more windows or natural light.
Biggest problem was that the Air con in the room did not work. I checked in 4pm, set the AC to coldest setting at highest fan speed, and at 10:45pm the room still didn’t cool, the hallway was even cooler than room! Two technicians came and told me I was wrong and the air was in fact cold. Excuse me, no.
I refused to take no for an answer so with their bad attitude, the begrudgingly opened up the system to discover the filter had never been changed. I mean it was disgusting! Dust, dirt, dead bugs… the second they removed it the air started blowing full blast. When they removed this filter however, it made a huge mess all over the floor and on one of my luggages that was open, they made no attempt to clean up the mess and just left. Being that it was now midnight and I was tired and sick of having people in the room, I did a cursory mopping of the floor myself. The next day I called down to specifically request that the maid mop the floor when she cleaned to get up the mess, when I came back in the afternoon of course this hadn’t been done so I cleaned it myself. What a luxury experience!
Other things to note, the telephone in my room didn’t function properly, kept disconnecting after 20-30 seconds when in use if you walked more than three or four steps away from the Jack, asked to have battery replaced but never happened.
Security was also a constant annoyance, I was stopped at front door, at the elevators, at rooftop bar and at pool all in the same day and asked to verify I’m a guest not just by showing key but asking last name and room number and then verifying. Not acceptable and this would never happen at the Four seasons.
Lastly I’ll note the sheets are a bit scratchy, not sure if they were new and hadn’t been washed yet or were of a poor quality. The plaster headboard was very uncomfortable to sit in bed and read, and you will bang your head at night, they should just upholster them as it’s a very user unfriendly design (form over function).

This is less a hotel and more a nightclub with rooms. If you want to stay at a hotel where you will have a quiet room to relax after a busy day this is not the place. We were assigned a nice room on the third floor. At that time, we explicitly asked if the room was under the restaurant on the fourth floor since we had prior experiences of being disturbed by rooftop bars and restaurants over our head. The people at the front desk assured us we were not under the restaurant. Guess what? We were directly under the restaurant and were kept awake by people moving around and scraping chairs and had to call the front desk to complain at 12:30 am.
The next day the manager on duty comped us for the room and moved us. We had a choice of a room on the 1st floor which resembled a dungeon or another room on the third floor which was underneath part of the terrace, but which he swore would not be a problem because that area closed early. We were ok for three nights. Friday night, however, which was the last night before we had to catch an early flight, the terrace came alive with a booming base which went on past 2:30 pm. We called downstairs to complain at 2, but it only got louder until, presumably, the terrace closed, Needless to say, we did not get much sleep before our flight. When we got back home I called the hotel and they comped me for that night as well. While I appreciate being comped for the two nights we could not sleep, I would have much preferred being able to sleep.
Nights were not the only noise problem. Early one evening we decided to go to the lobby bar for a quiet drink. When we got there, we found a DJ playing techno music at what must have been 120 dbl. We could not hear ourselves think, let alone talk to each other. We decided to try the hotel restaurant, Jerónimo, but were told it was closed for a “private event’ which obviously also included techno music played at 120 dbl. We wound up across the street at El Corte Ingles lower level where there was a restaurant with good food and peace and quiet. Similarly, the music playing during breakfast at Jeronimo was far too loud.
It really is a shame that the Edition cannot decide whether it is a hotel or a nightclub. The rooms are modern and well appointed, with plenty or outlets for IPhones and other devices, two sinks in the bathroom and roomy showers with nonslip floors. Yet the ever-present loud music and other noises make it difficult to rest much less sleep. (We were not the only people who had to change rooms due to noise issues). The Edition is supposed to be a 5 star hotel, but it really does not hold a candle to true 5 star hotels such as the Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental, or the El Palace in Barcelona or even the Rector hotel in Salamanca.

Dear ijloewy, Thank you for taking the time to write this detailed review. I am truly sorry to hear about your overall discontent. While I understand that you enjoyed the design and aesthetic comfort of our rooms, it appears that this was the only acceptable aspect of your experience. Clearly, this falls short of the luxury experience that we strive to provide, and for that, I apologize. If you have the time, please contact me directly by emailing isabel.luque@editionhotels.com. I would love to have the opportunity to speak to you. Looking forward to your response. Sincerely, Isabel Luque Parrales Director of Rooms

We recently stayed in the hotel as a family with our two children aged 8 and 10. We had a twin room with 2 queen beds which was perfect. We were informed on arrival that our room wasn’t ready yet (which we expected as it was around 11.30 am) but we were told we could have the same room with a nicer view for a “small” extra charge. This turned out to be €150 per night plus VAT 😳 My husband is a gold Bonvoy member and should be entitled to a complimentary upgrade which obviously wasn’t the case. Perhaps we should have pressed this more on check in which I handled while my husband was busy playing pool in the bar with the kids 😂😂
The design of the hotel is super sleek and modern if not a bit too Spartan (but that’s just my personal taste). Breakfast is table service only. One of the mornings was very busy and we had to wait quite a long time for the breakfast to arrive. We had dinner in the rooftop restaurant which was lovely and food delicious. Cocktails in both downstairs and rooftop bar very nice. Staff in reception were very helpful with Madrid restaurant recommendations.
The pool is lovely and unique, amazing to be able to go up for a swim after a few hours of sightseeing. The water however is absolutely FREEZING cold, I cannot understand how it’s not heated. Also the cabanas are at an extra charge. One of the afternoons the poolside was completely empty, the kids took the cabanas (we didn’t realise at this point that they had to be reserved) and were told to get out… Not what you expect when you pay €1,000 a night for a hotel room.
Location is great and very central for sight seeing.

I have never experience service like this! I was greeted upon arrival (and seen off at departure) by Daniel, and he and the rest of the staff could not have been more accommodating. I arrived at 10:30 am - generally too early to check in - but my room was ready, and while I waited at the front desk, I was offered coffee or water, etc.
I had drinks at the pool bar that evening, and the bartenders were friendly and very professional.
At the pool (Beautiful pool with fantastic views) the next day, the lifeguard (i think?) brought over bottled waters in a bucket of ice and, later, came around with a plate of fresh fruit.
The front desk checked regularly to see if there was anything I needed.
I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. I will definitely stay here again during my next visit to Madrid!

I just stayed there this past weekend and I loved everything about this hotel, from the first night having dinner at Jerónimo to the time of check out every one of the staff members was great. Our suite had all the amenities needed to make my stay very pleasant from the hand steamer to the amazing Le Labo products, The beds are beyond confortable and the black out curtains make you feel like its still night time at 3:00 pm. I really enjoyed this hotel and would recommend it to anyone visiting Madrid for the first time since it’s close to so many must see places just a quick 10 min walk to the Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel, The Royal Palace and also very close to great museums like Museo de Prado, Museo Reina Sofia and the So many great restaurants near by and Thyssen -Bornemisza Museum all within 20 min walk. Next time I am in Madrid I am staying at The Edition Madrid.

This hotel is breathtakingly beautiful, with extraordinary staff and a prime location. Our room was absolutely gorgeous and spotless- being cleaned daily and turned down nightly with the finest of details noted (water on nightstand in evening, hotel branded cord wrap when I left my long charger on the nightstand, wrapped my bathroom cords up, etc). Every person working here from the ideal rooftop/pool/bar to the Jeronimo hotel (breakfast and dinner) to the desk staff could not be more helpful at a moments notice. We will absolutely return to the Edition brand in other international locations and have been absolutely influenced for life!
