We stayed here for one night, our last night in Madrid, after returning from Barcelona and before flying home to the US. The hotel was easy to find, right on the Paseo del Prado, just a couple of blocks from the Prado museum. We arrived in the morning, and were able to store our bags in a cabinet in the...

We were in Madrid for less than 24 hours so we didn't really want to spend a lot of money on a room, but wanted a central location. This hotel met the criteria. Location: 5-10 walk from train station. Good luck getting a taxi because they won't want to take you for a short trip. We convinced the taxi that...

Perfect location: 10 minute walk to any of the big three museums as well as Atocha RR station. Easy to get to from airport via metro. Nice, small, clean rooms. AC, lift, no noise problem whether facing Paseo del Prado or not. All have double windows. Facing the park you have added feature of a Juliette balcony. Staff, especially Guillermo,...

Hotel Mora is located in the middle of all the museums. It has a reasonable size room, free wifi, a nice downstairs coffee shop and restaurant, and new furnishings. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was the miniature shower which was the standard, small European shower. AC worked fine during this temperate period but if...

Stayed 10 days. At one point asked to pay in advance but they backed off. Only other "negatives" were not getting to see itemeized bill before paying. Also street a bit quiet, more vibrant a few blocks up. But in general staff extremely nice. I felt at home. Room small but well worth it. Would go back. Was there combining...

The Hotel Mora is a good budget hotel. The rooms were very basic & small as were the tiny bathrooms!!! Having said that Check-in was very quick and the reception staff were always very helpful. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean. It's location on the Paseo del Prado is fantastic and the view from my room was wonderful. The staff...

This budget hotel was very clean and adequate for a quick two night stay for us to take in the Prado, Sophia, and Fundacion Mapfre art exhibits. No internet except for wi-fi in the lobby if you have a laptop. TV is limited to 7 Spanish speaking stations. Our room (407) at the rear of the hotel was quiet although...

Mora is a nice hotel, located in the very heart of the city, near the Atocha railway station and Prado Museum. Small but nice rooms, convenient location, very good food. A perfect hotel for lower budget travels.

We stayed at Hotel Mora for 2 night weekend city break in Feb 2009. The hotel location is great, opposite the botanical gardens, near the museums, just a short walk from the restaurants & bars of Huertas & Santa Ana and close to the train station. The hotel décor is rather dated, the lobby is very chintzy & clad with...

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
