The Nuria is very centrally located which was a plus. It is on a main street so not recommended if you're a light sleeper. The reception staff speak very little English so you will need a Spanish phrasebook. The rooms are small and the decor...More
The room was clean but I have stayed in two hostals in C/Atocha that had much nicer rooms and for the same price. However, its cental and does the job. The staff were not mega friendly and I did speak spanish to them. Neither were...More
We arrived after midnight very tired and were amazed and disappointed with the staff as anyone on the reception did not speak English! Not even a word! It turns out that our room window faced another building and we did not see anything apart from...More
Lot of comments on Nuria... Here's mine. I booked directly on their web-site for 31Euros/night. The hotel is very easy to reach by metro Tribunal, very central position. I have found the people very professionnal, sympathic, always ready to give indications. So the comments on...More

Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses
here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
