If the number 8 pink line from the airport was open and running, getting here wouldn't be a problem, but if you insist on taking the Metro for €2, it is possible with one bus trip (free) and two Metro transfers, and lots and lots of stairs. For that reason alone, I took a taxi with their airport price fix...

We had a comfortable stay at Hotel Preciados. The room and bathroom were clean. I like the heater and bidet in the bathroom. Different choices of beverages were free daily. The hotel is situated in a nice location, near a lot of restaurants, cafes, malls, short walking distance to Puerta del Sol.

We booked Hotel Preciados last minute after getting the run around at a neighboring hotel. It had been a terrible experience that day and we needed a bright spot in our day. The staff at Preciados were brilliant and their courteous and friendly manner and professionalism made our stay great. The accommodations are comfortable, we'll designed and maintained and very...

Having visited the restaurant once in 2012, I finally returned and had the carbonara, it was fantastic! The staff and service was perfect and quick, so much so I returned the following day for lunch! The staff were extremely attentive and couldn't do enough to ensure that your time in the restaurant was enjoyable. I would highly recommend to everyone...

Great location (close to the Gran Via). Pretty quiet, since Calle Preciados is a pedestrian-only street. The rooms are probably small, but you have anything you may need. Not expensive at all. The breakfast-buffet is gorgeous. One episode worth a mention: in one of my (thank God, very infrequent) struggles with jet-lag, I was up at 1 am. Went to...

I visited the hotel during my stay in Madrid and I absolutely loved it. The hotel location is excellent and of a walking distance to almost all touristic areas. Street with many restaurants, almost everything that you could need you can just find it there. A nearby department store, oh and Starbucks of just one minute away and a street...

I was definitely shocked by the size of the room. It was small and everything looked old. They didn't provide slippers or ropes. I felt like i was staying in a motel rather than a hotel. Our room also smells like it was a smoking room. Renovation is needed! If I was to go back to Madrid, I would not...

My stay was 2 days, but it's enough to judge. Nice location, nice people, the food and the service are nice. I parked my rented car easily, and safely. close to everything you need for. people there always keep smiling. I forgot my new bought shoes there in the room and contacted them upon my arrival home, and they gladly...

Beautiful hotel with a great location within walking distance of shopping, restaurants and museums. Upon check-in, I heard the friendly staff speak English and French fluently in addition to Spanish (naturally.) We upgraded to a premium room which was small by American standards though very clean and well decorated. It was also quite soundproof despite our location near many late...

Preciados is an excellent hotel in the centre of Madrid, it is well located, just a 2 minute walk from the Callao metro station with plenty of bars / shops / restaurants nearby. The room was clean and well appointed, with everything you could really expect including a free minibar / safe / wi-fi. The bed was extremely comfortable, but...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
