Well located hotel, and a good price. Unfortunately we were on the ground floor in room 3. If booking ask ahead and avoid any ground floor rooms as they overlook the service yard. We had a redundant staircase in our room and were woken at 7:00 on a Saturday by someone cleaning out the industrial bins.

I stayed in this hotel for a couple of days due to My business trip. The location is pretty hot considering it's just in the Madrid city centre with easy access to almost everything . Overall the hotel is good with a right balance between the old and the new style and the sound of the piano player when you... More

.....but a great location for a short trip. The staff were very welcoming, the interior looks outdated but quaint at the same time. There's a bar downstairs and the Internet is of average speed. The rooms are sparse but clean with a decent sized bathroom. I had an early check in room on the 1st floor so no need to... More

Stayed for 3 nights in September. Room number 8 is not the room you want to stay in. Although it is nicely decorated, clean, big and nice. But the location of the room is terrible. On the same floor as the bar, restaurant and reception not to mention the piano player who played every night. There was so much noise... More

The biggest down point of this hotel is that that staff has the English level of a three old. How the hell do they expect to host visitors from foreign countries?! Asked three times for towels, didn't receive. Also you have to submit 50€ deposit at the check-in.

Picked this from the internet for two nights largely because of the excellent central position and as it looked OK in the pictures. Easy walk from the Metro from the airport - and a Google Earth check beforehand. Welcome from reception was good. The room on the third floor was basic with two single beds plus two extra child beds... More

The Hotel is superbly located, uploaded a photo of the street which is outside the hotel. The rooms were nice, although I didn't get the rooms shown in the pictures (maybe the renovated wing). Clean nice hotel, but no kettles in the rooms. Coming from a city where hotel standards are very superior, this hotel for its room space and... More

We booked 6 nights at this hotel during our stay in Madrid based on a reccomendation from my parents. The second we walked into the lobby, we were immediately greeted by the very pleasant and helpful front desk staff as well as when we would leave and return to the hotel at the end of the day. We felt like... More

We stayed for 4 nights in room 120 and have nothing but praise for this hotel. Our room was clean, quiet and well proportioned. Our breakfast was included and the selection was great even for a vegetarian like me! A great selection of fresh fruits, pastries, cereal, as well as meats and cheeses. The restaurant staff were excellent at keeping... More

We had a lovely newly renovated room (525) with a large balcony. Great air conditioning. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the Metro. You can walk to city centre within 15 minutes. The central elevators at the hotel are very small with low weight limit - but you REALLY care?! Buffet breakfast was good - they even cater for... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
