I stayed in this hotel for five nights. We came to watch a Real Madrid match. We booked a superior room since my teenage son needs his privacy, and in this room there is a living room with a sofa separated from the bedroom. You can close the door and it is like two rooms. Very nice thought indeed. The...

We couldn't have asked for a better hotel: comfortable, quiet (inside court) and so well situated within steps of Gran Vía, Puerta del Sol, Callao and Preciados. Very good transportation from all these sites. You will never lack for food in Madrid and we found many wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommended by this Madrid veteran.

Dark, dingy, dated and cramped room....4 stars, you must be joking! The room was clean and the hotel was well located, but certainly not good value for money....would I stay there again....Absolutely not!

Stayed on this Hotel during ARCO Art Fair and it was a great experience because we wanted a centrally located Hotel which would permit us a fast paced trip in order to take advantage of allocating all of our hectic activities concerning the Fair. It has a fantastic cafeteria open from 7:00 am to 1:00am so we had breakfast and...

The hotel is within walking distance of the Plaza Del Sol which appears to be their version of Times Square and contains a metro stop. Tourist sites, dining and shopping are all a short walking distance from the hotel. However, the hotel is situated far enough off the main path to afford quiet in the evenings. Of course, in any...

A spotless clean hotel, our room was small but adequate, comfortable bed. Missed having tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Excellent location within walking distance to lots of tourist spots. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants near by. A short walk to the metro. Beautiful city.

The hotel was very nice when you arrived and entered the lobby. Check in was very quick. Our room was a decent size in terms of European hotels. The breakfast was fabulous. Large selection of meat, fruits, juices and eggs. The location was very convenient to major squares and stores. The concierge was very helpful in recommending restaurants and providing...

Lovely clean hotel, staff pleasant and helpful. Room was a good size, mini bar in room well stocked. I would prefer a walk in shower than a shower over bath though. But this wasn't a problem. Great location for shops, bars. Reasonably priced. Would definitely stay again. Tour bus fantastic, and just a short walk to pick up point.

Nice hotel in the middel of the city, but in a rather calm environment. It is a pity, that single rooms are rather small and some without real window. However, they are comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, personnel very kind.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
