The room was large, clean well maintained. Nice lounge area within the room with comfy settee. Bed was really comfy. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They even stored our bikes so we didn't have to leave them on the back of the car overnight. Easy to get to from motorway. Would highly recommend.

Had a recent business trip to Madrid and came across the El Madrono via a booking website. First impressions were not great as the 'street appeal' on what looks like an urban side street gave us a little feeling of trepidation. The perception improved slightly when we entered the hotel as the reception was large and airy but very traditional...

Good business and conference hotel in the modern part of town. Large rooms with kitchenettes, great breakfast buffet. Tip: ask for a room on the garden side, which is quiet and has a nice view. Easy access to the old part of town using metro line number 5.

I visited this hotel for one night with my daughter. I had booked a room for 3 people which had 2 single beds and a sofa bed. The room was very spacious and had 2 large wardrobes and a kitchen area which had an electric hob, a microwave, a fridge, sink and kitchen utensils. There was also a coffee maker,...

Stayed 3 nights with my wife and found it decent place as it was clean, close to metro station with quick access to major tourist places. The biggest bonus for us was that we arrived around 9:30 am and the room was ready for us with no hassle as we communicated our arrival and they gladly accommodated our request. The...

I don't know if all rooms are the same, but my "Style Queen" room was flash. Huge, modern, marble floor. Electric blinds. Everything worked. I used it as a hotel; i.e. you can use it as just a bedroom or you can use it as self-catering. Has fridge, microwave, kitchen sink all nicely hidden behind doors. Beautifully clean. Only very...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
