Have stayed several times at the Melia CASTILLA as well as now as at the Melia Princesa. Certainly the Princesa is better located and is modern and the rooms to be fair are far superior to the Melia Castilla, but the breakfast at the Melia Castilla is far superior to the Princessa as it has far more selection and feels...

This was a high class hotel and I enjoyed my stay very much. The hotel was organized by our Madrid office and was a new hotel group to me, but, if you are looking for that little bit of luxury, The Level experience at Melia is worth a treat.

The hotel doesn't look appealing from outside. But the interior is modern and clean. It is located close to downtown. We visited all the attraction on foot without wearing ourselves out. Will stay there again if I return to Madrid.

My room had bad noise isolation, street noise might disturb some people. The bed was really nice and firm, some might find it too hard. The towels were huge and there was also a bath robe and slippers. The breakfast was excellent for Spain. There are lots of restaurants around and the main sights are not that far away.

A most enjoyable hotel for a city break. The location is good for the city centre and all attractions. The Level Lounge is extremely comfortable and private check in and check out is useful. I woul thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel in great location. Nice bar and excellent service from main barman. Checkin staff were very helpful too. The hotel is within walking distance of all the main attractions and very near a metro station. Would stay again.

Staying in Arguelles

Neighbourhood Profile
Arguelles
Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.

“Rooms were on the smaller side. The shower glass door did not stay in place and hence water splashed during shower. The room was too warm and the lowest temp was 19C. We had to open windows by then we could hear the street sounds. ”
