I stayed here earlier this week for just one night with friends. This hotel is definitely dated, but in an accessible area. Was not very impressed with the friendliness/helpfulness of the hotel staff when asking them how to make the most of our short stay in Madrid. Room was just "okay" - very small for 3 people to cram in.

We stayed here for the first leg of our trip to Spain. The location is great- very easy walk to the metro and the hop on hop off bus stops. Staff was very friendly, rooms clean. The bathrooms were very nicely updated. My one wish would be to upgrade the bed/bedding. That would be a great investment to an already...

I last stayed in the Gran Versalles nearly 20 years ago and little had changed. It is a well run, very well located four star hotel. The price I paid (around 85 euros a night) was very reasonable. The room was a good size, the bed comfortable and the bathroom/shower modern and clean. The free wifi was fast enough and...

Looking at the reviews this place seemed ok but this is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Every time someone moved, a door was closed, someone had a shower or used the toilet we could hear it in our room. The first night we didn't sleep at all. The breakfast was nothing special. The hot food...

This is a beautiful modern hotel in a quiet neighborhood in Madrid. The rates were extremelty reasonable - about 70 euros/day. Parking is a bit pricey at 26 euros/day, (only 4 spaces in an underground garage) and breakfast was another 21 euros. We ate breakfast at a nice cafe around the corner instead. It was about a 30 minute walk...

Half way through an 8 night stay in a superior room. The comfort of the bed is the most important aspect of my stay in a hotel and the beds here are hard and uncomfortable. Consequently I am sleeping poorly and am taking painkillers for back ache every day. I have raised this issue at reception and have been told...

The location is decent, the beds were TERRIBLE. We got two twins pushed together, however the were on rollers and mine kept rolling every time I turned. The mattresses were thin and uncomfortable. The walls seem to be made of paper, we could follow conversations in rooms above and next door to us. Other than location and cleanliness, there is...

This hotel was great. The room was small (but that's not uncommon in Europe and it was big enough, you're only sleeping there) but clean and well appointed. It appeared that it had been recently renovated, particularly the bathroom. Breakfast was included and was good, the front desk was friendly and helpful. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
