Although a five star hotel with a lot of history, particularly connected to the bull fighters, this five star hotel needs a serious upgrade, with rooms and hotel overall feeling like a travel back in time by 50 years. Although in an excellent location, would rather stay at other more modern and better quality five star hotels in Madrid. Would...

There was a bad smell coming from the bathroom pipe work. I think the drainage pipe work needs a good flush out. The smell was quite strong, it kept me awake. Nice old building, friendly staff and a convenient location.

This Hotel is located in the Salamanca area of Madrid which is an upscale neighborhood. There's excellent Restaurants and all the best shopping you can experience at walking distance. Their Service and conditions of the Property are 5 star. It's worth every penny you pay.

We spent two wonderful nights here at this convenient, beautiful and reasonable hotel. It was very cool in late April, so cannot judge AC, etc. You can cut thru the lovely Retiro park, safe and frequented by lots of visitors, to the museums. From the welcome the minute the cab arrived--greeted by a man in silk top hat--it was a...

I stay here whenever I am in Madrid. It is verry well located and i believe the extra cost compared with similar offers (and you may find that its not that much more pricey) is worth it. Overall rooms are sound, beds are excellent and bathroom is solid. Some rooms are a bit small, but still good. Staff arw very...

8 nights at the WH. Travel has resulted in approximately 10 years of my life (3,650 days) staying in hotels from ultra high end resorts to box with a roof all over the world. I have seldom experienced the enthusiasm for service exhibited by the front desk staff at the Wellington. Besides the highly professional and prompt attention to every...

I attended a business meeting/conference of approximately 40 delegates at this hotel. It was pretty well organised by the team involved. there were small snacks supplied along with tea, coffee, and a selection of soft drinks at break times. Tea and coffee were served by staff. Sweets (not the normal mints or boiled sweets) on the conference tables with the...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
