This is nice hotel located in the city center just a few steps away from Puerta del Sol. Rooms are ok, breakfest is good but We had bad excperiaince with check in. We were waiting 15 minutes to make check in in hotel and after 15 minutes waiting the reception girl send us to the wrong part of hotel. This...

The reception itself from the staff was warm and friendly. Our room was spacious and spotless and at the back so, although we had no view, it was perfectly quiet at night. The breakfast area is spectacular (as can be seen from the 'photos). But at 13€ was not good value - hence one dropped star. There are lots of...

This is a great hotel for Madrid, central location with clean and tidy rooms, there isn't a large selection for breakfast but the food that is there is nice. Staff were very helpful and gave us a free upgrade for late checkout.

The hotel is centrally located on small side street. Just minutes away from shopping areas, good restaurants and subway station. Walking distance to many sights like the Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace etc. Unfortunately, there are some night clubs near the hotel and it got very noisy after midnight on Friday and Saturday. Good breakfast buffet in a nice atmosphere. The...

We booked a double room on the internet to celebrate our wedding Anniversary , we had Guaranteed room as per photo. Our flight was delayed 3 and half hours , we arrived to the hotel 10pm very exhausted to hear "sorry we are fully booked and we can't give you the room you booked, we have to give you another...

We selected this hotel because it was centrally located and very near where our daughter was living for the year and it did not disappoint in that respect. However, if you are taller than five feet do not accept a room on the fifth floor of this hotel as you will be hitting your head incessantly on the "ceiling" of...

Fantastic location for getting around madrid. It's very clean and stylish. You are two minutes walk to grand via and two minutes walk from sol tube stop . You have bars just around the corner. I would stay again. It's very noisy on Saturday nights as there's a night club on the same street and slot of people are outside...

This hotel is rather elegant and very central, although in a back street. Our room was in the back, so very quiet at night. Our room and bathroom were good and very clean with a free safe in the bedroom. There are no tea and coffee making facilities (we took our own!) The wifi was very poor and the T.V....

The hotel is perfect for sightseeing as it's right in the centre but tucked away so not too noisy. The hotel was fully booked when we got there but the bar and lounge was permenantly empty. Our room was lovely, but far too warm and when we asked if there was a way to cool down we were told no....

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
