A perfect location, central to everything, great bar with delicious drinks and a rooftop view. Staff is so nice they even went out of their way to help with parking, which is across the street. Very trendy but kids were also welcome. I highly recommend!More

Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to

the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.

there is no free shuttle we thought the same but was later told no. You can get the airport bus which drops you at the end of the road which is about a 10 walk. The bus is much quicker than messing around changing trains
There's a Starbucks on the next block with outdoor seating. There are quite a few little places to get coffee, pan dulces, whatever you want. To me, Gran Via was sort of like New York's 5th Ave. Can't go far without... More

I don't know where the idea came that the Gran Via doesn't allow non-taxi cars -- there were plenty of private cars driving up and down it everytime I recall. As to parking the hotel does not have its own faciity but there is supposed to be one nearby (50-100 meters distance).
