We (3 couples) stayed 4 nights and found this hotel to be everything we expected after reading previous reviews. Rooms were very comfortable and well furnished, bathroom was clean, and the 9th floor bar / terrace a quiet escape from the bustle of the city. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice for 12 Euros pp, and staff could not...

We were only in Madrid one night and wanted a place close to the Prado as well as the Palacio Real....and this fit the bill. The room was well appointed, with excellent amenities and a well stock honor bar. Breakfast started early and continued to quite late - an unusual luxury - but I was disappointed that the only option...

Stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate the wife's 59th birthday, although the exterior isn't prepossessing and the lobby is quite small, the rest of the hotel was very good indeed. We found the hotel staff very helpful and accommodating, helping us with airport transfers etc. Breakfast was served until quite late and there was a very good choice...

We, that is myself and two traveling companions, stayed at this hotel in two rooms from September 19-24. One of our party has a medical condition requiring that he travel with medication that must be kept refrigerated, and which is taken "as needed," often in the middle of the night. So we called the hotel from the US to ensure...

The main positives about this hotel are its very central location, and its cleanliness. Disappointingly the staff were generally cold and unaccommodating, which tainted our experience in what we hoped would be a top hotel. Be warned of sirens during the night - a downfall of its location on the main road - and the strict rules around the airport...

The room was good. The staff was very accommodating. The buffet breakfast had about everything I would want. The Hotel is located on an extremely busy, noisy street but despite that and despite our room facing that street the room itself was completely quiet. It's located in the heart of the City and is about a 15 minute walk to...

Wonderful hotel in the heart of Madrid. Walking distance to all major sights. Very clean and very friendly, helpful staff who gave us great restaurant recommendations. Gran Via is very busy, but the sound proof windows shut the noise out. The only noise came from other guests upstairs who seemed to move furniture early morning. Don't miss the rooftop view!

The room and facilities at the hotel were excellent. Our rooms were well equipped, very clean and well maintained. Like many European hotels, the rooms didn't have a kettle so we had to bring our own which is a bit of nuisance, but it's so nice to wake up to freshly made cuppa. The only downside was that we faced...

When we booked a Spanish colleague mentioned that Gran Via was like Oxford Street in London and it seems she was right! Busy and full of shops / shoppers but fantastic access to places to see in Madrid including Mercado San Miguel (for pinchos). The hotel itself is quirky but request a corner room. With a balcony overlooking Gran Via...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
