Nice enough hotel off the beaten path. Just be aware that if you book a room with a breakfast option and something unforeseen happens and you're not able to eat there and have to leave earlier than expected, they will not take that your circumstances into consideration and will still charge you the full amount for breakfast (which you can...

We stayed in mid April for 3 nights. Our room was unbearably hot and when we asked we were told the air conditioning wasn't working. We had a terrible nights sleep as it was so hot and even with the windows open there was simply no air circulation. We asked the following morning for an update on the air conditioning...

We were very happy with the hotel it was small and very traditional, the location was very central,, the staff were very helpful and friendly and breakfast was great. Only fault was the room was small and we woke up every morning to the noisy garbage truck

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend. Good location for shops and bars 5 to 10 minute walk. Metro nearby also and easy to use. Room was clean and comfortable and breakfast offered enough choice. Staff we're friendly and helpful and would certainly use this for a short stay again.

Room was clean, not any pőroblem with it. The personal was frendly and always ready to answer my questions. Breakfast was very good. Only one thing to remark: there is a lamp on the street wich disturbed us a little bit by night. There is no curtain in the middle of the window.

I really liked my stay in Cason del Tormes. This hotel gave me a Spanish feeling and the people working in the hotel are very friendly and helpful. It is in the centre but in a quiet street. I would like to stay here the next time I'm in Madrid!

You can't beat the location, right off the Gran Via and fairly near public transportation. However there is massive construction going on across the way and if you get a room facing it, it will be noisy. We initially got room 303 and it was noisy, the bed was uncomfortable, the room very dated and it smelled like smoke. As...

A very central location only 10 minutes from Royal Palace and Cathedral. Grand Via 5 minutes away. All you need in a city break hotel - clean, good hot shower and helpful staff. Bathroom was a real plus due to the excellent lighting. Most hotels have dreadful lighting in bathrooms. Recommended.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
