We stayed at this hostel for 3 nights. Although it was difficult to find it at first, it had a very central location between Puerta del Sol and Gran Via. The girl at the reception was very kind and nice, thanks for all. The prices of the hostel was also reasonable. I can recommend it for budget travelling.

My husband and I decided to go for 3 day trip to Madrid and we booked this hostel after reading some nice reviews. We were not disappointed. Perfect central location with easy access to metro stations. The receptionist was very nice friendly and helpful. She provided us with a decent size map of the area and Madrid and noted the...

Arriving in Madrid and with no where to go, this was the first hostal that came up when i googled. It looked almost too good to be true for the money it was but I was in no way disappointed. The Hostal is great, it has the perfect location just off Gran Via, 5 minutes from Puerta del Sol and...

We stayed for three nights in this BnB, located on the top floor of an apartment block. The room was basic with everything we needed. Looked exactly as it did in the pictures. It was cleaned everyday to a high standard and was right in the centre, just metres from the high street. I was a little worried that the...

This great little place hidden down the side streets of Calle Gran Via is a cosy and homely little place. Maybe a little hard to find, but once inside there is a warm welcome to be had with comfortable airy rooms.

This was an amazing play to stay for the price and we couldn't have had a better experience. You walk out of the front door and you are literally in the core of Madrid. Very comfortable beds, and very accommodating and friendly staff that really went the extra mile to ensure we had a good stay. The rooms were very...

We stayed two nights in a quiet but rather tiny room. My wife who is rather picky about hotels was nevertheless quite happy. The location is perfect and breakfast was OK in a close by restaurant. The only complain I had was the internet connection which was slow all the time and at times practically non existent.

This place is great! So clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff, and quiet- which is shocking given the location right in the middle of everything. I stayed for 3 nights and everything was just perfect. Breakfast at the nearby local cafe was simple, but felt very authentic. Not touristy at all, which was nice. I highly recommend this place and will...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
