We are frequent international travelers and this is the rudest most arrogant staff I have ever encountered. We ended up in Madrid to avoid the volcanic ash cloud for the return trip home from Europe. We booked this hotel based on recommendation from a friend. When we arrived from our flight in the evening and asked to borrow an iron... More

While the hotel itself is nice enough and certainly well located, we felt it necessary to share our miserable experience with the night staff at the front desk to warn off travellers looking for a stress-free stay in Madrid. My husband and I arrived at the hotel separately, him having come earlier in the day to attend a business meeting... More

We were very pleased with the Lagasca Hotel and we have stayed in a variety of hotels in Madrid. Situated in a very nice area surrounded by good Restaurants and great shopping. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was a very pleasing experience. Restaurant staff obviously take their job very seriously and it shows. Well done. We will... More

Functional, clean, excellent breakfast, great location and a free mini bar. What more could you want on NYE?! We cant recommend this hotel (and the chain) highly enough. We stayed in another NH property in Amsterdam that was equaly as impressive. And to note were sophisticated 30 somethings not rampaging teenagers.

Room was small, had to get a change, which was acomodated. No iron facility was the biggest frustration and then being charged for my business shirts to be ironed. I had no idea there was a breakfast area, which I found out when I checked out, but that was minor. The staff could be more accomodating, but as a whole... More

Dr Yiannis, UK Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. Nothing more to say. Stuff, location, hotel services, hospitality, cleaniness, friendliness to children were all well above expectation. I never stay in less than 4 star hotel, and NH lagasca was probably one of the best hotel ever stayed

Great hotel and service, excelent breakfast. The room we stayed at was lovely, clean, spacious and newly refurbushed.. We just felt so pampered and it made the whole visit to Madrid a great experience. The only thing I could say is that it does not have a nice view of the city, but it is so conveniently located that you... More

We spent our Easter Holiday in Spain, and we spent 2 nights in this hotel. The location is excellent, especially if somebody would like to shopping or window shopping. In the neighborhood lots of small nice cafes and you can find the nicest designer shops, but also you can find 2 or 3 El Corte Ingles department stores. The underground... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
