Stayed here with a group of girlie friends at the weekend. The hotel facilitated us in a room with 4 single beds. The bathroom was huge, breakfast was lovely and available till 11am....the orange juice was freshly squeezed, really nice. Perfect location as metro 1 min away. Stayed in room 110 but would recommend asking for a higher floor as...

We recently stayed at the Hotel Opera, we had a family room ( 2adults - 2 children). The room was spacious enough for the four of us, it is a good option for a family. The decor of the hotel could be updated and would benefit from a bigger TV but it is very well located.

My partner and I booked a trip through British Airways for the Easter Weekend and chose this hotel because of the way it looked and it's location. Generally you find that what you see online is not what you get in real life but it was not the case with this place. Only after booking through British Airways (who only...

Hotel is close to the Plaza Opera, next to royal castle and at walking distance from many of the sights in Madrid. Room was nice, not very large. Comfortable enough for two persons. Comfortable bed guaranteed a good night's sleep. We could hear some noices from the neighbouring room, otherwise everything was fine. Breakfast was good, buffet style. We travelled...

We stayed here for 3 nights on our Madrid holiday. It really is an excellent place to stay. Rooms are small enough but spotless and comfortable. The beds are probably the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept on. There was noise on the street at night but that didn't bother us at all. Location is spot on. Right beside...

Just returned from a 4 day day break at hotel opera and could not fault the hotel in anyway whatsoever, from check in to departure everything was first class. Our room was on the fifth floor and was spotless as was both the bathroom and shower, we enjoyed breakfast every morning where there was an excellent choice from fresh fruit...

We had stayed in this hotel some 15 years earlier and wondered about booking it again. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The decor, rooms and cleanliness of the hotel were great. The hotel is in a really good location within walking distance of everywhere in the city. We will return to this hotel if we are ever back in Madrid....

Stayed here for four nights with my wife. Booked double room but they could only provide us with a twin room. Excellent location right in the centre. But that does go with the risk of street noise plus the walls are paper thin. Take ear plugs if that could bother you.

Under 2 mins from the opera house, under 3 mins from Metro and under 5 mins from the Royal Palace. The hotel rooms are small but spotless and well equipped. Staff friendly and helpful. Pint of lager plus tapas at Rock & Ribs (< 5 mins) €2.50. Watch football in The James Joyce and stroll in Retiro Park. The metro...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
