The Villa Real is a five-star hotel in the centre of Madrid, located in the Plaza de las Cortes, right in front of the Spanish Congress of Deputies and just a few minutes on foot away from Puerta del Sol. It is a unique location for exploring the sites of 'Madrid de los Austrias' on foot and enjoying the museum triangle formed by the Museo del Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Queen Sofia Foundation.

Hotel's Favourite
We very much enjoyed our post-Christmas and New Year's stay in Madrid thanks to Hotel Villa Real! Madrid at this time is very festive with the holiday season. We were able to enjoy everything from this hotel's central location in Madrid. We were minutes away from Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Prado, and more. Atocha train station was walkable or a quick taxi.
The hotel was immaculately clean, with friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. The room was stocked with everything a traveler might need, and we received a bottle of wine and chocolates upon arrival. They even provided the 12 grapes on New Year's with an explanation of the tradition.
We stayed on floor 3 with a view out to the plaza and a small balcony. The street noise was limited at night, and during the day, we could hear skateboarders outside, as well as the delightful holiday bells ringing on the insurance building nearby. None of this bothered us at all, but just wanted to give fellow travelers a heads up.
Our room was wonderfully outfitted with plenty of towels, robes, slippers, tissues, and more. All the basics plus some. Two spacious closets afforded us lots of room. Room was refreshed upon request, and there was a nightly turn-down. Temperature was good and controllable. We were impressed with even the smallest touches, such as the reusable shopping bag provided (there is a tax for plastic shopping bags) and fragrance satchels in both closets, which helped us refresh our clothing after long travels.
We didn't purchase included breakfast, and ate at the hotel one morning during our five night stay. Cafes are plentiful in this part of town, including one just steps away. We found the hotel breakfast to be efficient, but very expensive for a cold buffet (hot breakfast was available a la carte). We were definitely paying for convenience that morning, as we did not wish to leave the hotel.
Pool available at sister hotel just around the corner. Of course, it was too cold for this during our stay, but we still enjoyed the view from the rooftop terrace.
We would definitely recommend your stay there!

Excellent service, wonderfully clean rooms, the restaurant facility although it has a limited menu the quality of the food and service was outstanding. There’s two areas that need improving - the first one has to do with the bath tubs being very slippery an unsafe for older guests with balance problems. Would recommend bathtub safety mats or stick on rubber apliques. The second is trying to do something about reducing the noise from skateboarders in front of the hotel - they start early in the morning into late night hours. In spite of these, I highly recommend the hotel due to the outstanding quality of the service received and great location close to main attractions in Madrid.

Dear Benignos360, Thank you for taking the time to provide your thoughtful review Our hotel aims to provide a unique experience, and we are delighted that we were able to meet your expectations. It is rewarding to read that you were pleased with our great location, with so many tourist attractions on our doorstep. We have taken note of your comments and encourage our guests to notify us during their stay in case we may be able to remedy immediately, we will, however, consider them carefully for future improvement. Nevertheless, glad to see you appreciated the cuisine on offer in our restaurant and especially grateful for your recommendations for a return stay with us. A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
This was my first time staying at Hotel Villa Real. The location couldn't be better as it's incredibly walkable to just about everything Madrid has to offer. My room was very spacious and had a sunken living room area with a leather couch and a view of the plaza. I found everything to be spotlessly clean. The only negatives to report were that I did find my room to be a bit noisy. I will caveat I am a light sleeper, but I also live in New York and am used to city noise. I was disrupted a couple times not only from the Plaza noise, but from my snoring neighbor next door. My reservation included breakfast which was pretty standard for a European hotel. Mostly continental with a few hot options made to order. The wifi wasn't bad, but now after reading the other reviews, I did have some trouble getting on to my credit card's website and pray their wifi isn't/wasn't compromised. Speed-wise, it was fine. The restaurant downstairs is okay for tapas, but never very full. For the price, the value of this hotel is appropriate and would be okay for a quick stay. Lastly, all of the staff were incredibly helpful and professional.

+1
We stayed four nights here in total. The service is outstanding. All the staff, including at breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, cleaning staff etc, remembered our preferences from the first day. And the service was personalized - they recognised us and knew our room number without us having to say it. For example, on one occasion, we asked to try 3 different pillows from the pillow menu, which we received. The next day, the reception asked us if we had found the pillows to be comfortable, and if we wanted to try a different one that evening. I also had the opportunity to speak to the Manager, and he was really friendly and professional.
One of our group was feeling unwell and stayed in bed for 2 days. Each day, several members of staff asked how she was feeling, and if there's anything she needed. They also offered to prepare special dishes for her, as she didn't feel well enough to eat anything on the normal menu.
The amenities are great. You receive bathrobes, slippers, and a cloth bag to keep them in. Toiletries are from The White Company, and there's a free non-alcoholic mini-bar. Hotel is central, near the Prado.
All in all, I'd say the general service and experience was superior to almost every brand I've stayed in, more or less at the same level as Airelles and Aman hotels, and onboard Silversea cruises, so a big congratulations to the staff!
And best of all, there are free sweets and candies in the lobby :)

Location of this hotel was perfect, close to all of the sights and the lovely plaza Santa Ana just down the road which I highly recommend for drinks! The service was wonderful, there are always taxis out front and breakfast was well worth the price.
There are 2 reasons for the 3 star review and why I wouldn’t stay here again. Firstly, this is advertised as a hotel with an outdoor pool and one of the reasons we picked it. However, the pool is actually in the sister hotel about 5 minutes walk around the corner which I think should have been made more clear on booking.com. It’s a nice pool, but way too small to accommodate guests from 2 hotels, so it felt very crowded even with just 10 people there.
Secondly, as per a lot of the reviews, the room was very outdated, dark and difficult to navigate. There was only a very small gap between the foot of the bed and the wooden stairs going down to the living room area which we had to be very careful of when getting in and out of bed. The bed was super comfy and the room was clean, just think it needs some modernising.

We are a Turkish and American blended family with two boys ages 7 and 11. We have traveled extensively and lived throughout US, Europe, and the Middle East.
We spent 3 nights at Hotel Villa Real in a split level duplex room. Having two bathrooms, two showers, a bath tub, three sinks, two televisions, and separate sleeping areas was fantastic! My children were comfortable on the pull out sofa because they are little; an adult or older teenager would probably not be very comfortable. There was enough space for the 4 of us to comfortably maneuver around our suitcases. My only complaint is that the walls were paper thin. Even in the upstairs bedroom, you hear people in the hall below, people talking in the adjacent rooms, people in their bathrooms and closets, you’ll even know when you’re neighbors have the television on. Ours kept theirs on until 3 am one night. Then they were up at 7. It was awful.
The gym is fine is you are not trying to lift heavy weights. The heaviest dumbbells are 8 kilos.
If you travel with television dongles, Google TV will not work because you will not be able to connect to the internet. Apple TV will work.
The location is ideal if you like to be near attractions but not in the thick of the crowded areas. Approximately 5 minute walking distance to the train station, art museum, and gardens. No more than 15 minute walk to Mercado de San Miguel, Plaza Mayor, and Calle Gran Via.
Every staff member we encountered was incredibly kind and helpful. If not for the thin walls I think our stay wound have been perfect. If we were to stay here again, I expect a little white noise would solve our problem.

Dear Derby Hotel Management,
My wife and I recently had an opportunity to visit Madrid and stayed at the Villa Real Hotel. We decided upon staying at the Villa Real Hotel as it had many good reviews and the price and location were aligned with our expectations. Throughout our 7 night stay we were very impressed with the accommodations and even more with the quality of individuals that you have employed at the hotel. Front Desk, Doorman, and Housekeeping were all extremely pleasant and displayed a high level of professionalism and customer service. Any request or questions that we had were answered promptly and met our needs perfectly.
I specifically want to call out two individuals that we dealt with more often during our stay. Both Sandra and Javier F. were exceptional in their level of customer service. Through my years of personal and business travel, I have not met two individuals that showed such care and good welfare towards guests as these two individuals. Sandra was remarkable in giving her time to answer questions related to restaurants, shopping and just getting us acquainted with the city. She showed such genuine interest in our well being that it made us feel she was committed to ensuring our visit was going to be memorable. The gesture she provided when we mentioned the construction noise that was occurring was very appreciated and unexpected. It showed her high level of customer service. Javier, was equal to the task in giving his time and suggestions for our visit. He went over and above in helping us obtain our delayed luggage and was also very responsive when we inquired about playing tennis by locating several different options. I especially appreciated his mindset of putting himself in the “shoes of the hotel guest” when thinking of ways of making our stay even better.
I strongly believe that people remember more than anything else how other people made them feel. Your staff made myself and my wife feel extremely special as guest of the hotel. We had a wonderful trip and were able to visit our son who is taking a university semester in Madrid this year. We made great memories that week and your “people” contributed to those memories. I will definitely recommend your hotel to other who are traveling to Madrid.
Please pass this along to the Sandra, Javier and the rest of the staff…they well deserve these accolades.
Sincerely,
K & J

We were surrounded by an absolutely friendly and warm atmosphere of the stuff. We came by car and it was easily taken to garage. We came with a dog and it was welcomed with its special bed, new toys and some yummies! The room service is the one the hotel should be proud of. They are quick, helpful and all the tapas are enjoyable for a reasonable price. They saved us after the “Noche de Reyes cabalgada” we were the spectators under the rain during 2 hours. The umbrella from the hotel has not helped, but room service has saved us later providing vine and tapas to make us warm and healthy on return.
Forget about roof and food. The interior collection of Romanian/Syrian mosaics of the 4-5 centuries A.D. is truly astounding as well as the whole collection of arts in the hotel. I loved the idea of Senor Hordi Clos to provide any hotel visitor “a cultural passport” and rights to observe these pieces of art. Thank you for all! We”ll be back!

Stayed at the hotel for a week of vacation in Madrid.
The best aspect of the hotel is the location - almost anything that I wanted to do, whether it was museums, shopping, local parks, restaurants, pubs, bars and nightclubs - all of it was within a comfortable walking distance.
I also had breakfast at the hotel, which offers a buffet style breakfast with table service for hot dishes. While not particularly big buffet, the food on offer was fresh and excellent.
The hotel itself was very good as well, the rooms - while a bit old in their style, were good with comfortable beds and were clean. The hotel staff was very professional and helpful and assisted me with any question or issue I had.
All in all, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great hotel in Madrid that also has a premium location.

I had a delux room that I used as a single. Feel free to contact hte hotel they were super helpful, I told them I wanted a quiet room away from the elevator and street.
Sorry for the late reply. I am not sure, but our room was non smoking. What was interesting bout our room was that it was a two story room (we are a family size of 3), with original art work. We really enjoyed our stay. I like Boutique hotels, it is fun to do something different on vacation. It was also our first time in Spain.

No more than a few blocks, at the worst. Hotel is museum central.
