I have been returning to this hostal for over 5 years now. In the past 12 months it has changed hands, and has undergone a significant refurb - new entrance, new towels, new decor etc. This simply makes it even more appealing than before - though the price has increased a little, so it's not quite the deal it was....

This place exceeded my expectations. It was set up in a great location. There was a café right outside where I had my morning coffee everyday. The room was very nice and the entire place was spotless. The people working there were helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend it. And the price was unbelievable.

I stayed in this hostal for a couple of nights and I am sure I will come back every time I return to Madrid. It is located in a busy district with several clubs and gay friendly pubs and it turns quite noisy especially at weekends but the hostal is well isolated from the noise outside and it is quite...

I've been here couple years ago, alone and it was a good expierence. I decided to go back this year for New Year's. Again, i have to say it was a great stay. Beautiful room, clean, spaceful, the staff is very nice and friendly. And the position is perfect, so close to la Gran Via. I've been in many many...

I've been staying here now for over 4 years. Twice this year, and it just confirms that Cristina and the rest maintain an excellent standard, fantastic value and brilliant location. Rooms are large for the price. always spotlessly clean (thank you also Margarita!), come with aircon (half have their own split units, the other half operate from a central unit)...

The position of this hostal right in a trendy part of Madrid was a huge drawcard. The room was nice and clean, although ours only had a tiny window opening up inside the building and the bathroom was tiny. The walls were also pretty thin so that you could hear the other guests who thought it was ok to chat...

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
