We loved it here! The Hostal is centrally located, but we could not hear too much noise around from the streets. The rooms are small, but since we were not there throughout the day it did not matter to use. We loved the beds and mattresses which were very cosy and comfortable. The bathroom and sink were small, too, but...

My family and I recently spent a week in the Woohoo Hostal during a visit to Madrid so we had ample time to get a good sense of the place. Below are the things we liked and didn't like about the hostal. Likes: - Location. The hostal's location really can't be beat. You're essentially in a side street about a...

Very well located hostel in Madrid. Clean place with helpful staff also quiet good wifi in the hostel. It is located in an uooer floor in an "apartment" block. Even it is in the city centre it is in a quiet small street so night life noise wont disturb everyone. only downside is the shared bathroom. It was extremely small....

The private double rooms were modern, well-appointed and very clean. No noise from the street, as the hostel itself is just a touch off Gran Via. The location was excellent - it's a great base to explore Madrid, and central enough to pop back at any point during the day to rest, drop off shopping, suit up for a night...

Read about this place before I booked and reviews where mixed. I should have "listened" to the bad reviews. The area is not a very good area first of all. Did not know that until a friend who lives in Madrid told me. The hostel is horrible. Small, dirty rooms. They've tried to paint over mold in the ceiling, cupboards...

Stayedhere for 2 nights and it is a good place to stay while on the runand is close to everything! Metro is a few blocks away, bar and restaurant opposite the place. Helpful staff and the place is very very clean and neat. They offer breakfast as well.. We had our own shower in the room but the toilets are...

Now I'm in my sixties - a woman travelling around the world alone, so what I like is to meet interesting people - and nice people, so staying in flash hotels is boring, fawning, and isolating. Hostels are where you share other people's travels. But I hate dirty places, and I hate rude staff. Woohoo was cleaner than most hotels,...

Can a hostel room be too clean? Ironically, yes. Our bedroom smelled so much like cleaning detergent from the ensuite bathroom that it irritated my throat. Airing out the room for at least half an hour was necessary. The bathroom contained a small shower and an even smaller sink. Washing my face wasn't possible without splashing water over the floor....

We booked this hotel as it was centrally located, easily accessible from metro and was convenient to take a city tour. Hostal provides enough local information which helped us to explore the city. We took a free city walking tour which was very informative and fun exploring the city thereafter. Breakfast options are pretty decent and rooms are chic and...

I stayed here for 3 nights in a 6 person dorm room which included a shower in the room. The hostel is very central and close to metro stations and within walking distance of Sol. I pretty much spent 3 days walking around Madrid from this location and saw all the sights I wanted to without having to take the...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
