They say Location is everything and the Petit Palace Mayor has that. You are minutes by foot from major attractions and readily accessible to the Metro for anywhere else you want to go. But what really counts is Great Service. The staff, especially Vincente, were exceptionally helpful in making certain our stay was a great experience; from correcting the Tourist...

The Staff at the hotel are very cheerful and helpful, the hotel is extremely clean, nice fresh odor, the shower is very nice, with an adjoining jacuzzi . The WiFi is highly efficient, always working with a good speed, the breakfast hours, variety, presentation and quantities are great. The only drawback is that the hotel management had to make the...

I booked 3 nights at the Petit Palace Mayor as part of a package that I purchased through an airline for my husband's birthday. The room was small (two people could not pass together between the bed and the wardrobe) and strangely decorated - the bed installed on a raised platform that made the slanted ceiling seem very low, black...

This hotel was a very good value for our family of four as many rooms have bunk beds that allowed us all to stay in one room for around 140 USD The rooms are very clean and recently remodeled with a "tech" theme that is somewhat impersonal but fine for a few days

Fancy hostel, that’s what it felt like for me. My room was clean, functional, and comfortable. Not particularly spacious but enough elbow space. Not much in terms of service. You check-in, get you keys, and off you go. The best part of this hotel is it feels much newer and better maintained than all the other hotels in this older...

We have just returned from a pre-Christmas break here . Lovely hotel ideally located for Mercado San Miguel, plaza mayor, El Rastro market, Sol and all the central Madrid shopping and tourist attractions. Our room faced a courtyard so was incredibly quiet meaning a good night's sleep after experiencing Madrid's bars and nightlife. The bed was very comfortable (another pillow...

Located close to both the Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol it's in a great location for tourists. Room was big enough for 2 people not to feel crowded and super clean. Breakfast not included in price was worth the cost. Very modern place compared to other hotels that I've stayed at in Spain

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
