The owner (cuban, who lives in the property) was very badmannered. During my stay there was a problem with hot water, so that in winter i had to shower with cold water and after promising that he would have fixed it, a day and a half had passed and the water still wouldn't be hot. After i've called him, he...

There was no mention that there is no open reception ,only two flights up a dimly lit stair well ,no lift, to a locked door . Although my 15 year old daughter and I rang repeatedly , it was not answered . We were let in by a guest leaving and waited more than an hour in reception listening to...

My wife and I recently returned from a month-long trip to Paris and four cities in Spain. Our longest stay (six days) was in Barcelona and we stayed at the Hostal L'Antic Espai. We had a double room with access to a very nice terrace. Highlights: The hotel's location couldn't be better if you're traveling to see this wonderful city....

This hotel is very central for all the tourist sites, and a real gem with regard to being quirky and very different from the usual hotel.Although we knew we were on the right street it was hidden, just a door as the hotel is not a ground level occupying the 2nd floor. Run by a friendly couple who made us...

I rented this room thinking it was a b&b- but it is very much a hostel. It's location is perfect, in the middle of everything. The furniture is antique and it has an old Barcelona charm. The staff was very helpful and polite. The negatives are that the bed was extremely hard and the walls were paper thin with your...

I loved my stay there. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. All rooms are small but with antique furniture. The place does not have a pool, which was not a problem for me because it was too cool to swim. If I went in the summertime I would have probably picked a place with a pool. The great thing...

Being left outside for 20 mins despite giving an accurate estimated time of arrival was a considerable inconvenience but the location is great and it has a certain charm. However, the internal single rooms are quite simply dreadful. The lightwell which acts as the only natural light also carries the drains for a five storey apartment building, this became very...

If you want to try something a little different then this is the place. On one of the busiest streets this gem is bringing you back in time. We found staff helpful and the birds tweeting while having breakfast was a little different. Would def try again.

This is an excellent spot in Barcelona, a few steps from Passeig de Gracia and the subway, and at a short walk from Plaza Catalunya, Las Ramblas and main Gaudi's monuments such as Casa Batlo, La Pedrera and Palau Güell. The hotel has an antique decoration in a modernist building, near restaurants, bars and everything you need on a trip...

Great location! 5 minutes walk from Placa Catalunya. Walking distance from almost everything in Barcelona - Picasso museum, Aquarium, Barri Gothic quarter, Casa Batlo and La Pedrera and other sights. The train station to Port Aventura is just 5 min. walk from the hotel. The stuff was nice and friendly. The room is tidy and comfortable. Very good Wi-Fi. Will...

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
