When I arrived to this hotel, there was an issue with my reservation. I was getting into a panic mode but the manager was super helpful and kind and solved the issue immediately. Not only the manager but all the staff was super courteous, always helpful and a smile in their faces. I know that this is what they have...

We stayed here for 4 nights following a cruise. I can only base this review on our room 103 as other rooms may not be impacted. The room was small and very dark and overlooked a side alley. There are no towel rails in the small bathroom and the shower managed to soak the entire floor including running into the...

We enjoyed a superb dinner on our one-night stay at this little boutique hotel in the center of the city. The front desk staff was warm and helpful. Beyond those pluses, the hotel offered little. Our room was tiny and cramped and poorly heated. The breakfast is provided in a basement cave with little service to replenish food and drinks....

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Banys Oriental. Rooms were clean, quiet and warm (it was late December, 15 degrees) with comfortable beds and a safe provided. Bottled water on every floor and a lovely buffet breakfast, with the option to dine in the restaurant within daytime or evenings. The location was fantastic - situated in...

Numerous corridors of cubby hole painted grey with clompy fittings. You can't swing a car and it's grubby. Our door hits a chair behind it (the only place for a second suitcase) that smashes the plaster off the wall. It's just left like that. The shower, obviously leaky, has been painted with black bitumen paint that's all sloppy and cracked....

We stayed here for two nights at the end of our one month tour of Spain and Morocco. The staff were very helpful, offering to print off our rail and museum tickets for us. The room was clean and had what we needed. Our only complaints were how dark the room was and how noisy our stay was. There was...

Chose this hotel as it had good reviews and location was between old town and city and we were very pleased. Friendly informal reception passed us to room on 4th floor with low lighting but very pleasant. Bed was huge and most comfortable (firm) bed we've ever had in a hotel.! View was not great to appartments 4m away over...

The hotel is in excellent location. Metro is few steps away. Staff is very friendly. The room was dark. I would wish for more comfort e.g towel hooks in the bathroom. Free bottled water was nice. The room was with windows on the main street. Never calm. A lot of people. Shouting and speaking loud, later the waste machines etc....

This hotel is in a great location, close to attractions and restaurants in the Barrio Gothic, El Born and an easy walk to Barceloneta. The street it's on is small without a lot of traffic noise, though people are out late walking in the evening, especially on the weekends. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable, and they provide...

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Banys for a few days before our cruise. It was conveniently located and within walking distance from places we wanted to go. Good selection of restaurants nearby as well as the restaurant in the building. Very friendly staff.

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
