After reading the previous reviews I was really worried about arriving at this hostel. We stayed for two night and had a double bedroom with our own bathroom. The hostel has a fantastic location, close to the beach and la rambla etc. The hostel looks a bit run down as you go through the entrance and up the stairs but...

My partner and I (both backpackers and experienced with "budget" hotels/hostels) made the worst decision in booking this place; so much so that we thought of forfeiting our money and going to a different hotel to enjoy our time more. Whilst one of the staff members was helpful, the others follow you around enforcing rules. There is also an additional...

It is the worst hotel that we have ever stayed until now! If u don't mind living in a prison for a few days, yoked by all the intolerable rules and yelled at by the unbelievable owners, just choose this one! Rule No.1 - Do not wash any type of clothing: socks, underwear, t-shirts, etc. If u do so, u...

The place is very well located and very clean really. the rooms are small and the beds are not really comfortable. they charge for extras but we didn't need any of those extras because we were out all the time. I would probably come again but what turned me off really was the fact that I booked for a double...

Excellent location that's true, but those rules!!!Me and my partner were staying in Barcelona for few nights, at Pension Palacio as it seemed to be quite cheap and close to all atractions. We needed somewhere to sleep only as we were out all day anyway. I must say Pension is very clean, staff was cleaning 24/7. There are extra costs...

Plus: clean and in good location. Minus: very noisy (on a high traffic avenue, sirens etc 24/7) - I could still hear the traffic through my earplugs. Tiny room. Rules everywhere (don't do this don't do that!). Compulsory wake up at 9am (whether you are checking out or not). Given the above, 50 euros is overpriced for a bunk bed....

Location of this venue is perfect - very close to Port Vell and beaches, close to Barceloneta metro station and Bus Turistic stop. That, however, is its only advantage. Rooms are tiny and there are restrictions and extra charges everywhere. Be prepared to pay extra for bed linen, for towels, for use of kitchen. I wouldn't mind paying if it...

The hostel is clean and in a very good place. But the other things were just terrible. Instructions and restrictions everywhere...we just heard -do not touch! do not use! do not take! It was our teenagers children's idea to stay in a hostel,as they were told by their friends that hostels are the best places to stay and to meet...

I have no complaints about this place. I found the staff to be wonderful and helpful with anything me and my spouse needed(just be respectful and friendly and you can bend the rules). I liked that the place was clean spotless at all times. The rooms are small but you don't go to Barcelona to be coped up in a...

The Pension Palacio was amazingly horrible! My best friend and I stumbled upon this place in the Summer of 2011. We met the owner, Mario, at the train station, he was there peddling his rooms to naive and unsuspecting tourists. My buddy and I were in need of a place to stay and Mario offered his rooms at a really...

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.

“Rooms are very small, tiny I would say. Be prepared to pay extra for use of the kitchen (2 EUR per person), for towels, for bed linen. There was only one electric socket in our room (Nr.6) - which is rather problematic if you have one notebook, two cameras and two iPhones to charge.”

“We had a room facing the inside wall of the building, and it was always very dark in the room. But if you get a room facing the street - it should be too noisy at night. So, choose the inconvenience you prefer :)”
