Hotel Gaudi's prime location garners high praise from guests for its proximity to attractions and public transport, though some have reservations about the area. While the hotel offers a range of appreciated amenities like complimentary luggage storage and diverse breakfast options, a few guests mention the basic nature of the amenities and the presence of thin walls. The rooms' cleanliness and the hotel's overall atmosphere, including a lovely roof terrace, are frequently lauded, as is the exceptional service provided by the friendly staff. Despite some concerns about noise and comfort in the rooms, many travelers feel the hotel provides good value.

I booked this hotel mainly due to its location and ease of access on arriving to the city and was not disappointed.
The Hotel Gaudi is a 3 star hotel and as long as you remember this and don't have 5 star expectations then it is far more than adequate for anyone staying in Barcelona.
On arrival we were greeted by friendly reception staff who quickly checked us in and gave us all the information we would need for our visit to Barcelona and stay in the hotel. Our room 518 is a Superior Double with terrace. The room was facing the roof of the Palau Guell opposite and was a lovely added bonus to our stay. Despite the rain we did manage to use it and enjoy the ambience of the city from our look out.
The roof terrace was gorgeous and we were just unfortunate that the weather and itinerary of our stay meant we didn't have the chance to utilise the area and enjoy a drink or two taking in the views but it was nice to see that it was relatively busy and a good selection of drinks to choose from.
Our room itself was pretty spacious and although it was made up as a twin double, we slept well and although facing the road were high enough not to be disturbed. It is an old building and pretty dated but overall there was plenty of hangers, kept clean and we were comfortable in our stay.
The only mini gripe was the bathroom really needs a refurb! It wasn't dirty but just didn't feel or smell clean at any time during our stay even after the cleaners had been in. I think it is just so old and a whole new suite with walk in shower and better lighting would make such a difference.
We enjoyed our breakfasts in the mornings and were so happy with the choices on offer. We had three very varied breakfasts on our four night stay. Pastries, breads, spreads, cheeses, both hot and cold meats, juices, coffees, cereals, fruits, cakes and even toasties were all on offer and in the hallway there was a machine for water to refill your bottles and an ice machine too!
There were two lifts taking you to the floors as well as the stairs, we didn't go and see the gym so can't comment on it but it is great that it is on offer. This great little hotel has it all and is so close to La Rambla and the Gothic quarter and also close to underground and bus stop too! It is so easy to access and never too hard find a decent restaurant in the vicinity.
If you are looking for a nice traditional Catalonian hotel right in the heart of Barcelona then this place is for you, it's not polished or pristine but it is welcoming and full of character and I am so glad I booked it for our stay!

Very characteristic and central hotel, but not 100% used. Working in the industry and having a little experience in almost all sectors of the tourism environment there have been various shortcomings that are important for good service. Apart from the unprofessionalism of the staff and little desire to work, it seems incredible to me that there is no fridge in the room and that in addition to paying for the room they ask you for an extra payment for the safe.
The cleaning service was minimal, it seemed like they removed the rubbish, made the bed and that was it, the private terrace was only looked at in the last few days. Dirty towels were not changed when necessary, I had to go to the reception because one was dirty, as an automatic response I often hear "if you don't put them on the floor we don't understand if you want to change them"... and instead they taught me that a quick look Always give the towels because it's always nice to see that they anticipate you and that they care that you are comfortable. And actually one day my boyfriend left them rolled up and they hung them on the door instead. Crooked bathroom board and minimal furnishings. The phone, however, hadn't worked since the day we entered the room and at check out, having a super early plane, I asked for a wake-up call and it didn't happen clearly and when I asked him at the reception if he had made the call he replied yes. And I asked him how it was possible since it doesn't work... and he immediately apologized, but in what sense? And also check out nothing!! You almost forget I still had the keys if I didn't give them to you.
Finally I leave a comment on the terrace, beautiful and with a wonderful view but the bar service... poorly organized and the bartender super agitated. On the first day, not having an ashtray on our private terrace, I went to the bar and he asked me which room I was in and that there are floors in this structure where you can smoke and where you can't. At first I didn't really understand this answer because it doesn't make logical sense. But I had a really hard time getting the damn ashtray delivered to me because she wasn't sure it was possible. And the next day I always meet her because we wanted a Margherita and what ever... €10 for alcoholic water? I've made cocktails and I've never seen anything like this. I was asking for a smooth vodka at this point.
I'm very sorry because we kept saying how nice and super tactical this hotel was for its location but it wasn't used in the best way in my opinion... with little you can really make a difference.
The city is extraordinary and I recommend it to everyone, it fills you with life and the hotel however helped with its location and the exceptional view it has. The girl who welcomed us at check in was fast and professional.

Because of the ability to store our luggage and its convenient location, we stayed at this hotel 3 different times over the course of 2 weeks. We flew into Barcelona (for our cruise the following week) and stayed overnight; the next day Paolo and his team kept our "cruise" luggage so that we were able to travel with less luggage to the other Spain locations (and therefore avoid additional baggage fees). We returned the night before our cruise as well as after the cruise for 2 nights. Having the folks at the front desk and in the breakfast area remember us relieved our anxieties of traveling around Barcelona and Spain. Breakfast was available until 11 a.m. and had a variety of hot/cold American/European selections. Each room was unique and accommodated our party of 5 or 6 with the different bed settings.

This hotel has a fabulous location opposite the Gaudi Museum just off the lower part of La Rambla. Access from the airport is really easy (and cheap) using the Aerobus to Plaça de Catalunya and a short walk down La Rambla.

The room had all the comforts that we needed with the only shortcoming being the wafer like pillows.

The breakfast option was great value for money with plenty of tasty food and drinks available.

We particularly enjoyed our pre dinner drinks in the bar, where Alessandra provided excellent service and recommendations for restaurants to eat at.

Considering its location it was really good value for money and I’d definitely recommend the hotel as a base for a visit to this magnificent city.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this Hotel and was disappointed to say the least.

Positives first! Location was great being a few minutes from La Rambla and room was sort of tidied and beds made every day. Sadly the negatives far out weigh the positives.

When we arrived just after 2200 the staff were efficient and polite and we were booked in with minimal fuss. We dropped cases in room and went to bar for a drink and to plan our trip. Bar tender clearly struggled to pour a beer leaving it prone to over flowing with foam, a minor point but one that irritates me. We were told that if we wanted food it would be a half hour wait as they have to order it in. We went to bed hungry.

In morning I went to place my shirts in wardrobe and found the top shelf covered in thick dust! I did mention this to the cleaner but nothing was done.

The room had no fridge and no tea or coffee making facilities meaning we had to go out to get a brew in morning. Whilst bed was made every day any waste was not removed and the bedding not changed. Oh and to top it all 2 of the 4 nights the bar was shut due to no staff!

From the outside the hotel looked derelict with the signs not illuminated and dirty. The roof top terrace with pool consisted of what looked like a paddling pool, amazing how a clever camera angle can make it look so much bigger. Will say the view was pretty good so some kudos there.

Dear guest, Thank you for your review. I am very sorry to read that you didn't like our hotel. Regarding the Cafeteria Service, it's true that nowadays it's becoming really difficult to find qualified staff, specially when it's just for a very short contract, offered just to cover a short illness leave, especially without any previous notice. The days in which we have no staff are very few, and we have tried to solve this issue offering our guests a high quality food service, externalised, used by other hotels in Barcelona, who serve very good food (even to 4 and 5 stars hotels) with a maximum waiting time of 30 minutes. Apart from that, we are in the core of Barcelona and there are many bars and restaurants around the hotel, so we don't feel that we are leaving the guest without any options when unexpected staff leaves arise. In fact, I really don't understand why you went to bed being hungry instead of waiting for 30 minutes, since this is the time it would have taken to have your meal in your own room. This service works from 12 pm to 6 am, so you can order food any time in the day or night, from noon until the morning. As regards the fridge and no coffee making facilities, you are right, we don't have any of those (just a minibar in the Deluxe Rooms, which is not exactly a fridge, since the temperature is a little bit higher). When you booked the room you could have seen this by yourself reading the description of the room, and if this was so important for you, I honestly think that you should have chosen another hotel. As for the pool, as you say, it is a paddling pool, not a swimming pool. Again, nowhere is it stated that we have a swimming pool. If you filter hotels and you want a swimming pool, our hotel won't be displayed. Concerning the lack of illumination at the outside, we used to have the façade illuminated and we loved it, but this has been forbidden by our City Council in order to avoid "light pollution". Finally, as regards the issue about the cleaning inside the top shelf of the wardrobe, thank you for letting us know, we will look into this. Our score in Cleanliness is very high, it is one of our strengths, so it's very useful for us to know if there is still something to be improved in such an important item. Yours,

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at Hotel Gaudi in Barcelona and had a delightful experience overall. The hotel is perfectly located just off La Rambla, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city. Despite being so central, the hotel felt like a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the gothic quarter

Our room, although on the smaller side, was well-equipped with all the amenities we needed and a fantastic view of Gaudi’s Palau Güell opposite. The bed was comfortable, but we did find the long ‘sausage pillows’ a bit awkward to sleep on. However, this was a minor issue in an otherwise great stay.

Breakfast each morning was a highlight, with a good selection of fresh and cooked options to start the day. The hotel staff at reception were exceptionally helpful, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was smooth. They promptly brought an iron to our room when requested, printed tickets for us, and even arranged transport for our departure.

Given the location, service, and amenities, we found Hotel Gaudi to be excellent value for money. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay in Barcelona! We’d happily stay here again on our next Barcelona stay.

We booked this about 3 years ago and due to Covid 19 we had to re-arrange about 3 times. To be fair they were very accommodating to allow us continual date changes. I remember at the time some of the communication was a bit curt and at other times very friendly and I would say that is a theme with this hotel. We arrived about 12pm and knew we would not get into the room but that we could have our bags stored. That was fine and we were given a what’s app number to text to see if our room was ready before. We did this and never got a reply which I think is poor given that was what they said there way of communication about this was. When we turned up at 3pm there were 2 women on the desk, one ignoring the fact there was a line of customers and another trying to do it all. She starts processing us and then says oh you have a bag in the hold so you need to get that first before I proceed. The. Tried to serve the other customers. I did not move and asked she continue with the passport checks In the meantime. This in my options is not good and no way to treat customers. They have your credit card details from the booking so should you run off with the key they can re-charge you or follow it up before you leave. They need to review this practice as I notice another customer mentions this also in the reviews.

The room was very modern but it worked well with a separate toilet room and shower. The shower was fantastic and plenty hot water. The bed was comfortable and it was not that noisy for a central hotel. We had a fridge but it was not very cold and no kettle. The lifts were unpredictable and one was out of use. Be prepared to use the stairs.

We did not use the restaurant so I can’t comment on that. When I did ask an older receptionist where I might get coffee from at 7.15am in the morning I was told 7.30am in the restaurant briskly. No attempt to help inform me where else there might be out in La Ramblas. The roof top terrace was a nice touch and I dare say in the heat of the summer the plunge pool comes into its own. I don’t know how the actual bar service works - we were just lucky enough to have a waitress be there at the time we wanted something. Other times it was unmanned.

I have to say we paid €122 per night and I think that was great value for what we got so I can live with the unbalanced staff approach. As we left a lovely male receptionist was on and could not have been nicer to us and it shows that’s it’s a pity there is not more consistency of approach with the staff as it would have made a much better experience for us.

Dear Toptravels, Thank your for your review. I am happy to see how grateful you are for us having kept your booking after 2 years in spite of the fact that travel was possible more than a year ago. That's not something everybody does, specially air companies, who just give you one year to use your Covid credit. As regards the 2 people working, probably you checked in when we had a new member of staff, and unfortanetely people need some training before doing all the work by themselves. Also, the issue with the key of the lockers is not a matter of money, it's just that we cannot afford people keeping their keys for their whole stay, since we need the lockers for the next customers. Yours, Irantzu Mestres

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
The rooms are old and worn out.

The room balcony we had looked out onto other balconies, nothing scenic.

If you want kebabs, cannabis paraphernalia, or explicit souvenirs to remember your trip, it’s a good location. Otherwise, it’s not a good location and I’d recommend avoiding the entire La Rambla.

The staff were all friendly and helpful, they just couldn’t do much with what they were working with.

For what it was the hotel was also extremely expensive.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our hotel. First of all I would like to introduce myself. I am Cristina; the PR manager of the Gaudi Hotel in Barcelona. I would like to thank you because you give us the opportunity to give our point of view. Secondly I would like to thank you about your opinion about our staff, I really appreciate your kind comments about them. As regards the hotel and the rooms being too old, let me tell you that it is true that we are a hotel with history, we are open since 1964. However, our rooms and hotel are not old as we continuously renovate parts and it is not deteriorated because luckily we have a very generous Maintenance budget that allow us to keep everything flawless For us it is very important to answer to your opinion about the price. The price is relative. Like most hotels (also airlines) we operate with a revenue management system, that is, we take into account supply and demand. That means that if events or congresses are taking place in the city, all hotels will set higher prices. Prices tend to be higher on weekends than on weekdays. And it is not a matter that only affects our establishment, but the entire city. For your comments and the dates of your stay, I am sure that you came to the hotel on the dates when an important Congress was taking place in Barcelona As regards the view, the only rooms that have a guaranteed view are the ones located on the upper floors, and they are the Superior Rooms, with an extra cost, which wasn’t the one booked by you. However, since we know that all our guests appreciate the view, we opened a new rooftop terrace in order to give all our guests the opportunity to enjoy the view, even if they have chosen Classic Rooms. I hope you had the chance to visit our terrace and that you enjoyed it. Finally, I am sad to read that Barcelona did not match your expectations, I would just like to add that our unique location, in front of Gaudi’s masterpiece, together with cleanness and the staff are our strong points. We always receive positive feedback about our location, we are just in the city center, a nice walk to the Port, to the beach, to the Gothic Quartier and lots of the most important buildings of Barcelona. In fact, journalists and art professionals ask us for access to our terrace to obtain the best photographs and views of a Gaudi masterpiece. I find it disturbing that this is not enough, but everyone has their own tastes. Best regards, Cristina PR manager

Hotel very well located 1 minute from the Rambla 4 minutes from the metro 10 minutes from the statue of Christopher Columbus.
We took an extra to benefit from a terrace on the 6th floor with a roof top with a 360 degree view. Don't go there for the swimming pool it's a big bathtub....
In summer it must be great for sunbathing and drinking at the bar when it is open.
Correct surface room. Poorly arranged bathroom... You have to maneuver to go to the toilet.
If you are looking for peace and quiet to sleep: watch out for the roof top and the noise from the air conditioning and various extractors which prevent you from sleeping well.
Room service: limited because we do not wash your cups and do not replace them in 4 days. We offer you only one instant coffee in the room in 4 nights. The broom is not known.... In 4 days.
Good welcome, a big congratulations to the parking attendant (20€/day) who helped us with the suitcases.
Appreciable breakfast, the staff just does their job without any further kindness.
If you want to enjoy the restaurant in the evening: run away and look nearby, it will be simpler and certainly faster.
The hotel has room service but it is very poorly explained, especially if you don't understand Spanish.
Comparing German, Luxembourg and French hotels for the price and the extras that I booked are much more expensive and not qualitative.

Stayed here for a long weekend. It’s a great location just off Las Ramblas.
Having read some of the previous reviews I’d prepared myself for some frosty encounters but I found all the staff helpful and obliging.
My room wasn’t huge but more than adequate for my stay. Nice big bathroom with bath and shower. It was cleaned and tided every day.
Breakfast was very good with a lot of choice. The staff were very friendly!
Views over Barcelona from the roof terrace were great!

Only downside was the lack of sound proofing in the rooms, which is sort of expected in an older hotel. If you get an inconsiderate guest coming in at 0230 and maintaining a noisy conversation for 30 mins you are going to hear it!! Luckily that only happened one night 😞
I did hear water running thru pipes whenever bathrooms were used, not sure if that was just my room location or a general thing.
