Just got back from a weekend here. Hotel was in great location, very clean with good facilities. Couldn't really fault it, if I was being overly picky there was no coffee or tea in the rooms, which is fair enough, however, when we asked to buy some at the bar we were told it was closed and they couldnt help...

Nice hotel, good location! After reading several reviews of this hotel, me and my husband booked a 4 day trip in feb-mar 2013. We weren't disappointed. Very nice staff who did everything to keep us happy. Clean room, nice breakfast. We asked for a quiet room, which we got on the 7 th floor. (room 819). Nice view overlooking the...

Stayed four nights in a regular double bedroom. Price I paid was totally outrageous due to conference going on in town (>EUR 300 per night), although it was a very nicely decorated and comfortable room. Big TV, A/C (cool/warm), safe, shower in bath, toilet and bidet, sitting area and a minibar. No coffee or tea. In general the hotel staff...

Just got back from a 3 night stay with 6 other gals. Had a great time, the hotel is in an ideal location if you wish to be close to but not on top of the attractions. The rooms were spacious, we had one for 3 people with dividing doors and never had as much wardrobe space, only downside was...

We have just got back from 10 days in Barcelona and we couldn't have picked a better hotel for our trip. The staff were lovely and very helpful, and the rooms were great. We had one at the back and it was nice and quiet. We arrived a bit too early for check in, but we left our cases in...

My husband and I stayed here in February and got an excellent deal. Our room was a little noisy on the first night owing to traffic from the busy road but the staff were happy to upgrade us offering a room in a very quiet part of the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for staff - service was excellent....

I wanted to get away from the cold weather so I booked a few days in Barcelona. The weather in February was perfect: 20C, blue sky, sun: you could walk outside without wearing a coat! The hotel was excellent. The rooms were large, luxurious and extremely clean. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was very modern and there was...

We booked a double room and the bed was huge! Beautifully decorated, comfortable, spacious, clean room. The walls in the bedroom and the loo had speakers built into it, which was a really nice touch. The metro station was less that 5 feet from the hotel doors and La Rambla about 10 mins. The staff were very helpful and had...

My partner and I stayed two nights at the Barcelona Universal in January, prior to a cruise. This was our second time at the hotel and we will stay there whenever we go to Barcelona. The location is great, with a metro stop just outside the front door. Some people complain about the neighborhood, but we have walked everywhere around...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
