We recently stayed for a pre-cruise two nite stay at the Barcelona Universal hotel. It was a very nice place. Our beds were very comfy, large bathroom and the room was quiet. That being said, they did put us in a room with a view of the wine cellar/storage room (below). But being that we were only going to be...

This hotel is a modern, average hotel with average sized rooms and an average bathroom with a bathtub. It's nothing very special but doesn't leave you unsatisfied in anything. It's quite close to Rambla. If you are a light sleeper you will have big trouble sleeping in the rooms facing the street- too much noise at night.

We arrived early (around 10:30 am) but there was no problem and they checked us in immediately. Room was nice, not huge but a good size for a city hotel. The location is great, right beside the metro, making it very easy to get around the city. No real downsides, would highly recommend.

This is a late post as I stayed with my hubby in June, but better late than never! This is a great hotel, clean, very convenient to Las Ramblas (about a 10 minute walk) but that's kind of a double edged sword since to get from the hotel to the Ramblas, the walk is a bit sketchy especially if you...

We stayed here for my friends birthday and had a lovely stay, the hotel staff were very friendly and the hotel rooms very spacious and clean. We were very lucky with the weather and could use the sun terrace and pool which were both lovely. The only thing that would of improved it would of been a kettle in the...

The hotel is located right in front of Metro subway station and about a 10-15 minute walk to Las Ramblas strip. When we arrived in Barcelona, we got to the hotel at about 10AM and no rooms were ready yet. However, the staff was very friendly and allowed us to securely check our bags with them while we explored Barcelona....

There are a huge amount of positives to this hotel. Firstly, the staff really were delightful and couldn't have been more helpful. The location is also fantastic - it was our first time to the city and we loved being so close to la rambla and all the museums etc, but coming home at night to somewhere that was a...

Greeted with a smile as we came in, the concierge was happy to assist and even let us check in early. I had asked for a free room upgrade via email and to my surprise, we got one! Hotel is far from the Pl. Catalunya where we got dropped off from the airport, so def take a bus or metro....

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
