I booked this hotel through Late Rooms and bought the flights directly through Ryan Air. All very reasonable. When we arrived at Barcelona Airport we asked for directions to get best transport links to the hotel. The easiest - other than via a taxi which would have beenabout 30 euros - was to catch one of the Aerobuses to Placa...

This hotel is within 10 min walk from the port and the ramblas. There are plenty of small places to eat if you venture down some of the small side streets. The staff are very helpful and friendly the rooms are spacious and kept very clean. Just around the corner to the right is a bike hire system which is all...

Hotel is in a brilliant location within walking distance to main attractions. Rooms are clean & nice but limited bathroom facilities I.e. lotion. Hotel staff are rude, unfriendly & this us definately not a family hotel. Don't take young children or you will get complaints. Restaurant staff for breakfast grumpy & moody & hot water for tea was lukewarm, when...

Stayed here for 3 nights. We had a room at the back with the view of the tennament block and all their washing, not exactly a room with a view, but being at the back it was quiet. Didn't try the restaurant and ate at the local tapasbar for breakfast. I would say that the hotel is located in the...

The location is excellent both for access to the airport, very close to Las Ramblas and perfect for the metro. It is very easily walkable to the main tourist areas of Barcelona and even...

I would recommend the Universal Hotel to anybody looking for somewhere to stay in Barcelona. Myself and my husband are a couple in our fifties and I can honestly say that the hotel was perfect for what we needed. The hotel is centrally located and is only a short walk to Las Ramblas as well as the Gothic Quarter, The...

What a great hotel close to Ramblas. When we arrived didn't like room as looked out onto internal shaft. Staff moved us to new room and then arranged a room with balcony for last two days of the visit. You cannot ask for more from the staff who are excellent. As with any hotels there are good rooms with view...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
