We enjoyed our stay in this small 'boutique ' style hotel. Very conveniently located on La Rambla, close to Metro stations at either end of the street and tons of shops and restaurants. We actually found much nicer and more competitively priced restaurants in the side streets and Gothic quarter leading off La Rambla. A much nicer area to explore IMO. There is a Flamenco venue right next door and the show was well worth taking in.
Our room in the hotel was on the 8th floor and overlooked the stunning roof of the Palau Guell, which is just around the corner and well worth a visit. We heard no noise from the busy street below so worth requesting a higher room if you are a light sleeper. We had a family room which was spacious and clean. The only negative was the shower. You have to mix the hot and cold taps until you get the right temperature, so we had to turn it to bath fill mode until it was just right. Also, when finished showering, we had to turn back to bath mode to avoid getting scalded or blasted with cold water, as you can only turn one tap off at a time. Our adult son has special needs and we had to help him.
Breakfast was good with basic continental fare - cold meats and cheese, cereals, breads, pastries, fruit and yogurt. The freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious. We ate in the hotel one night. They had a special offer of 2 x tapas, choice of paella and a drink for a very reasonable price. The food was delicious but it was a bit gloomy and quiet inside and lacked the ambience and atmosphere of the outside places. However, they do put tables and chairs out on La Rambla during the warmer months.
Overall, would recommend for anyone taking a short break and wanting a central location.

After reading reviews was a little uneasy as to what to expect. But I can honestly say we had a fabulous time at Ramblas Hotel. A warm welcome by the lady in reception. On entering room (606) I was pleasantly surprised. A large, freshly decorated room with a view looking out over La Rambla. Great size bathroom, TV, small fridge and safe. Only drawback and that’s why I’ve only given 4/5 is that there are no tea and coffee making facilities, but I was aware of this so had taken my own.
Breakfast was continental, but a great choice of cereals, yogurt, fruit, breads and pastries as well as meat and cheese. Freshly squeezed orange juice (no pretend stuff here, you can see it being prepared as you eat. Staff are constantly cleaning the breakfast room. Never saw them standing still.
Hotel is very clean and is currently being decorated. Great location
Great bar just out side Cafe Gran Ramblas. Looks a little lonely as it doesn’t have the bells and whistles of some of the street side bars, but really well priced. Cocktails €8.40 Meals varied in price but really competitive.
Yes it can be noisy as mentioned in other reviews, but it’s a main tourist area, so what do you expect.
On leaving they have a luggage room. You are given a keycard and inside the rooms there are lockers which take €2. You can easily get two carry on cases and a couple of back packs in them.
Beautiful hotel and we hope to go back

Firstly, Barcelona is a vibrant city, full of character, characters and fantastic architecture (most Gaudi of course). The Sagrada Familiar is just amazing along with Casa Battlo and Casa Mila.
As the name suggests, Hotel Ramblas places you right on La Ramblas, probably the busiest street in Barcelona and with that location you get thousands of tourists, noise (day and night), loads of shops selling tourist junk, the inevitable pickpockets and people trying to sell you trash. It all comes with the territory. Just make sure you have an over-the-shoulder bag held in front of you, nothing in your pockets and keep away from clowns (literally) with balloons and people selling bracelets - then you will be fine.
As you can see from the reviews, the hotel is a lottery! We had a party of 5 people in two rooms. One room on the 3rd floor overlooking La Rambla, the other on the 7th floor, overlooking the back of the hotel and intriguingly, a Gaudi Hotel (a bonus).
Both rooms were clean and the facilities fine (apart from a shower which we had to hold and of course, the plug socket that falls out off the wall ..... it's Spain). Beds were made daily and fresh towels supplied. The people in reception were polite and helpful when we were left without a loo roll!
The room on the 7th floor was quite with a decent view of the Gaudi hotel and the sleepy builder on the development next door who did about 30 minutes work each day! The room on the 3rd floor was a little noisy at night so some advice - take some ear-plugs which will help you! It's a city hotel, so what do you expect for a 3 star hotel in this location.
The hotel is central to three metro stations (all 5 minutes walk away) so, if you have your walking legs with you, all the main attractions are within a 20-30 minute journey on the metro which is very easy to use. So get yourself a Hola metro travel ticket (which also gets you to and from the airport) and you are set to go.
It's not Fawlty Towers!

Location of the hotel is great. Right on La Ramblas which is the Main Street probably the busiest street in Barcelona. In that location there are thousands of tourists, noise (day and night), lots of restaurants and stores to shop.
We arrived earlier than check in time and were allowed to stay inside their restaurant with our luggages until our rooms were ready. We waited for few hours and due to this, we missed one of our paid tour that day. The receptionist was rude. Elevator too small. Sometimes you have to wait long. Had the worst experience with the bus that picked us up from the airport. When we arrived at the hotel, we were all exhausted and hungry.
When we finally got our room, I was a bit disappointed. I specifically requested for a room with balcony facing La Ramblas street, but did not get it. Not only that our room was a bit dark inside, it was facing the back of the hotel overlooking all the roofs of the building. Didn’t like the bed, it was a bit hard for our back, pillows were a bit small in size and they are the fluffiest I’ve ever felt (too soft). Room was clean though, but kind of outdated. No door in the shower. Every time you shower, the floor gets wet. My husband mentioned it to the receptionist at the main lobby and the guy said “yeah we know, but you can ask for more towels to wipe the floor…” Good thing we didn’t stay long.
Breakfast was a continental buffet which included fresh fruit, delicious rolls, yogurts, cakes, fresh orange juice, coffee and tea. It was good, but no hot food.

I approached this stay at Ramblas Hotel with trepidation, after reading the mostly poor reviews on here. Well, we had a great time! We had room 409, a double with a small balcony overlooking Las Ramblas. It was nothing fancy but it was clean and comfortable. There was a safe and a fridge. It even had a bath as well as a shower and loads of hot water. No tea and coffee equipment but we knew that. We were not particularly aware of noise from the street. Yes you could feel the odd rumble of the metro and now and then a door slam but it did not affect our sleep. Probably the 2 thick layers of blackout curtains helped (they certainly kept it nice and dark at night!) Breakfast was ok....cereals, fruit, yoghurts, ham, cheese, pastries, cake, bread...and on request, gluten free bread and biscuits for me. The lifts were small and quite slow, but that didn't inconvenience us. The whole place is an old, characterful building with faded charm. Location wise it was excellent, the metro (very easy to use, we bought a T Familiar which gave us 8 journeys for under 10 euros) was less than 5 mins walk. It was also walkable to the harbour (30mins) and the Gothic Quarter and Bouquera market (10mins). Do try the nearby Placa Reial, a lovely place for eating outside in the evening (even in March as the bars had outdoor heaters) and beautiful in the day too. We had a lovely time.

Just stayed at the Ramblas hotel for 5 nights with the wife for a birthday surprise. The hotel is in a fantastic central location on La Ramblas, the staff on reception were polite and helpful and would answer any questions we had. The room was spacious and was cleaned daily, its probably a little basic basic to where we would normally stay but this wasn't a problem as we spent most of our time out exploring the wonderful city. Breakfast was continental and there was plenty of choice for a good start to the day. The food and drink on Las Ramblas is beautiful but you will find it is quite expensive, so we just had a walk around looking at the beautiful buildings and within 5 minutes you can easily find an array of little bars and restaurants which offer the same beautiful food and drink but at half the cost. If you are looking for a central hotel for your stay I would highly recommend staying here.

We checked out of the Ramblas Hotel Barcelona hotel after one day. We had a four day reservation, and expect to get a refund for the 3 days balance through the agent who booked this hotel. The clerk at the desk of the hotel explained she would send information from us for the reason we left to our email address, we have not received that yet. That never happened And the hotel has blocked this complaint from their server
We found the hotel is unsafe and we do not want to stay in it any longer. The water faucets in the room for the shower were out of control and were dangerous for that reason. The water lines were filled with air and thus spit out water and from cold to scalding hot several times. The water pressure would slow down and then come back on at high pressure causing the water to change rapidly from cold to scalding hot. My wife received extremely hot water on her body.
In addition, on January 3, the day we checked out an emergency alarm (fire and other) went off in the hotel earlier and continued for approximately 30 minutes. There was NO COMMUNICATION TO THE RESIDENTS the status of this alarm, no information given by phone or intercom that this was a false alarm. We were therefore unaware of what we should do or whether we should evacuate from the 7th floor. We asked a maid on our floor who called by phone to find there in her words “was no danger” This for a hotel is totally unacceptable, it leaves deep mistrust about our safety here, and not knowing wether we would be properly warned in a real emergency. Highly recommend seeking your stay at another hotel

We were only there for 1 night and we had read very bad comments, our experience was quite the opposite and the hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We chose it for its location and price, we got a room on a high floor with a terrace with a table and chairs with a beautiful view of the Rambla and all of Barcelona, a luxury indeed. The room was spacious, very spacious, good wifi, with a minibar, the bathroom was good, we had no problems with the elevators and the breakfast was very consistent with a 3*. I have no complaints and I would definitely choose it again.

Lovely stay in this hotel. I was a bit sceptical before arrival due to the not so good reviews I was reading on other people’s stay here at ramblas hotel but to our surprise we had such a great stay. The staff were very friendly & helpful. We arrived earlier than check in time and were allowed to store our luggage in the storeroom until it was ready. I requested before arrival that we get a room with a terrace & a nice view, they did not disappoint. We had a huge terrace and the view was beautiful. Rooms were clean & looked after daily. We were on floor 8 so we didn’t get disturbed by the noise from the people outside or the nightclubs/bars near us. Breakfast was limited but had plenty to choose from with breads , cereals, yoghurts & juice. Continental meats & cheeses. This hotel is so central if you’re looking to be close to many food places/ things to do. Highly recommend!

Stayed 1 night here. Great location at top of La Ramblas. Approx 10 min walk from Place Catalunya straight up La Ramblas. Hotel is pretty basic but room very clean, shower in bath quite powerful and air conditioning ok. Quite a lot of noise from street and our room overlooked La Ramblas but we slept fairly well. Reception staff very helpful. Breakfast is from 8am but we were getting early train so they prepared breakfast boxes for us to take away. Metro is very near, Liceu. Direct train to Sants station from there. Also for Sagrada, walk 10 min to Paral-Lel station and direct metro to Sagrada. We took Aerobus from Barcelona airport to Place Catalunya which was very convenient and good value. About 40 mins. Would recommend this hotel for short stay.

Yes, Bathroom in the room but for the price we paid I would definitely go somewhere else. The beds were very uncomfortable, the A/C was marginal and if your expecting non-smoking, there is no such thing.

No bed bugs in our beds and the room and beds where spotless and clean. It’s a very old building so you may get associated creepy crawleys but we didn’t see anything and slept well.
"Getting a taxi to and from the airport from this hotel is around 35 euros but worth it as the foot and car traffic around this area is very heavy at all times of the day. "
