Just got back home from Barcelona, so thought I would write something while it was still fresh... A few pointers: If you are travelling from the airport, I suggest that you use the...

We spent 3 days at the Hotel Balmes and thought it was perfect and just loved its location. Close to major spots like La Rambla , Placa de Catalunya, Paseo de Gracia but this hotel is hidden away oasis on a more relaxed Calle Mallorca. Great access to all the sights. We spent 4 nights in here. Barcelona is fantastic, this hotel is average. Like some one else we booked a double and were given a twin, we were moved for our second night. Noise is an issue in the hotel; street noise is expected but noise from the central atrium where in the internal rooms face is excessive. Location:- a...

Hotel was comfortable, clean, and safe. Staff was helpful. Room was about average size -- nice big windows that opened, looking out onto a quiet courtyard. Nice new- looking wood floors. Bed was comfortable, nice closet. Great powerful shower, although the shower space felt narrow to me. Nice flatscreen TV -- one english channel, CNN, so able to keep up...

The hotel is situated in an excellent position to explore Barca, 10 minutes walk and you arrive at the main square. Had 3 nights in room 317 and it was very clean. Negatives are lack of tea/coffee making facilities and little light as there was only a small window overlooking internal walls. The air conditioning is controlled centrally so it may...

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
