rented a room for 4 people last second, was only given a single and double bed in a disgusting apartment. owner took half an hour to ignore us and continued to answer phone calls while we waited to claim our room key. said we would have the place to ourselves, but then a french couple showed up and smoked weed...

I picked this hostel through hostelling international, who I used for a trip to canada which was super social and organised. When I got there the receptionist was polite but I felt like I was a bit of a nuisance or something which did leave me feeling very welcome. The information up on the walls was all out of date,...

this hostel is indeed the most shabby, scruffy and dirty hostel my boyfriend and I have ever been to. And we always choose the cheapest ones ... dirty beds, awful smell and completely run down rooms and facilities. I bet they didn´t clean there for the last 10 years, at least. by the way, there are no windows in rooms...

Dirty, noisy, full of questionable people and doesn't come close to the pics or description. I booked a single room with private bath. It was neither. The bathroom was used by several who never cleaned up after themselves. The shower was disgusting. No soap provided even at the sink and a single torn beach towel was handed at check-in. No...

We had a nightmare experience with this "hostel". Seemed more like a cover-up for something more worse. The reception was full of shady men who clearly worked there but they weren't interested about their paying customers and the well grounded feedback. We arrived there and first said that we need to pay more a "tourist fee" in top of the...

Give this one a miss if possible. Dirty, dusty and dodgy. The first room we were shown had a broken latch on the terrace door. Man at reception said it was ok because we were on the first floor, however we insisted on a different room because the height was definitely scalable and the area seemed very unsafe. We were...

This is hostel is this price for a reason; in fact given how horrible this place is, it is overpriced. If you notice the photo I have used it is of the outside to this hostel, which was not photographed on 'Hotels.com'. We arrived at 10.30 am after a local taxi driver struggled to find it and we were told...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
