Rooms have a very cool, fresh design and I fell in love with their Rituals toiletries and in-room scents. The bed is one of the most comfortable we ever had but I wasn't a big fan of the hypoallergenic pillows (this is something I ofter struggle with so no hard feelings). Food was amazing both during breakfast which had a large a great selection of dishes but also during a la carte service. They were super helpful accommodating some special requests for our young son. The area where the hotel is situated is close to a lot of cool cafe's and restaurants but also to the beach.

Hotel was amazing. It’s definitely 5 star if you look at it in English standards. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were excellent. The reception is open plan, cool and very clean. It smells nice too. The corridors are ultra modern and clean and are not dingy in the slightest. The rooms are amazing too, from the power shower which is hot and super powerful to the decor which is modern and inviting, as 2 mates we were very happy with it and the price was brilliant. The pool is lush, it’s cold but once you’re in and the suns on you it’s really nice. Towels, robes and slippers are complimentary every day. We paid for the breakfast 3 days out of 4, you get a discount if you book it at the desk on the first day. It was nice, as much or as little as you want and you can ask the chef for pretty much whatever you like. One of the waiting staff was quite snappy and a bit rude on one of the days but you could tell she was probably overworked and maybe the language barrier didn’t help, but I wasn’t eating her so was not that bothered. Overall the hotel is brilliant and I would definitely stay again if I came to Barcelona. I really don’t understand the other reviews with any complaints on, I suppose them people are just twisty and nothing will ever be good enough for them. Thank you hotel Paxton

The sleeping area is set off from the living space by a wooden step. That step is very low, maybe 5cm, and lit, but not lit enough that I didn't hit my toes on it - twice. The second time really, really hurt. There's no real reason for that step other than design fancedom, and although this kind of toe damage reads more stupid than anything else, I will not give a hotel more than three stars if it physically damages me. :-) That said, the Paxton is a brand new, in fact still-under-construction designer place, three or four stars, close to the beach - not an area I'd stay voluntarily when in Barcelona, but it was a conference hub and as such worked well. About 7 minutes to the beach, 10 minutes to the Metro. The room's advantages are great beds, very contemporary, quiet aircon, a good shower and separate bathroom, speedy Internet, good plugs, Nespresso machine with replenished capsules, and hardwood floor. Disadvantages are the blinds (already broken), the noise level (walls are fine but the doors let everything through), the lack of fridge and safe, and very few condiments in big dispensers. Highlights were the young, friendly and committed reception staff, as well as the simple but quite generous breakfast spread. There's still a lot of construction going on here, both in the building and the grounds. A previous reviewer called this a Millenial hotel; I'd say it's more GenXish, but the tendency is correct. Still, I still have half a toe nail missing, and so I might not be back.

Response from PAXTON BARCELONA, Atención al cliente/recepción at Hotel Paxton Barcelona
Responded 28 July 2021
Dear Aethelred, First of all we would like to thank you for your stay at the Hotel Paxton Barcelona. We are very sorry to hear that your stay was not entirely pleasant due to the issues you mentioned about the double height bed that we have in some of our rooms. Paxton Barcelona Hotel is located in one of the most authentic and trendy areas of Barcelona for its proximity to the beach, for its essence of a neighbourhood that still endures and that is both modern and innovative. The closest metro stop to the hotel is Llacuna, and it is only 4 minutes away from the hotel. We hope that if you have to return to the area on business, you will decide to give us another chance, bearing in mind that you already know what to expect in the rooms with the double height bed or staying in another room type and that otherwise nothing can go wrong 😉. Thank you again for Choosing Paxton Barcelona Hotel for your stay in Barcelona. Alba.
