I loved this hotel. It is a beautiful building and has a lot of history. The rooms are very comfortable. The hotel is in a great position. The breakfast is plentiful. There is a bar on the rooftop and also a swimming pool. I would definitely stay here again.

In fairness, we did not explore the pool or many of the common areas, but our room (114) was overlooking a wall and was very small. There was a mini-bar in the room with free items (peanuts, water and pineapple juice.) THe bellman told us chocolate, but none there. This was May and warm, and we had a problem with...

Amazing architecture (which you can see on a guided tour of the hotel if you are not staying there), friendly staff who speak good English, comfortable, well furnished and very clean rooms, great location just off the Ramblas. So why not a score of five? Three reasons: 1. we specifically asked for an outside room with a double bed when...

We enjoyed the architecture of this hotel. The original building is epic. Even better, the modernization of the room floors have added value to the hotel. Hokusai inspiration if the wall paintings was a surprise. The breakfast was beyond poor and it was surprising for us at a Catalan city. The bell boy (Jordi?) was very interested in us with...

Found this through trip advisor. It backs on to the opera house, metro and Ramblas are 50 metres, placa Reial is 100 metres. Boqueria market is opposite. The inside is clean and smart. Restored with attention to Belle Époque original style. Room are modern. Many look over court yards. Rooms are on small side but are well appointed. Roof top...

A slice of heaven....We enjoyed a wonderful 3 night stay at hotel espana. We were struck by the award winning decor as we entered and warmly and efficiently greeted by the staff. They politely and helpfully answered our barrage of questions as it was our first visit to barcelona. Room small but funky, cool bathroom. Fabulous showerhead. Great bed. Internet...

This is very classy and charming hotel near las Ramblas, very clean and elegant it has two worlds in one: the classic old world of Spain mixed with the new modern facility. We would like to come back again. Love this hotel.

Lovely hotel, very helpful staff looked after us on our 3 day city break. Great location just off Ramblas centre, they offered room upgrade to top floor with roof top balcony, magic. Had a Tapas night in the hotel, food really nice and service perfect, can't recommend them enough. Great hotel in a great city.

Excellent location, historical building worth a visit itself. Service and staff was excellent, clean and very comfortable room. Could only wish for a window facing more than just a small inner yeard, so next time a room with terrace will be my choice. Thanks and see you next time!

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
