Anyone who stays in a hotel like Pension 45 has absolutely no right to moan about dust, noise, rudeness or towel size! The hotel is located right next to la rambla. La rambla being the busiest, most popular street this side of spain - yes, you will get noise! The hotel is charming and clean, the reception staff are as...

Pension 45 is centrally located at Placa Catalunya, from where you're able to walk to most places in the city centre - La Rambla is literally at your doorstep. A metro station is nearby too if you need to go somewhere further away. The rooms are clean and reasonably furnished. The staff is always helpful and speaks English. Just one...

The really good things about this small pension in Barcelona were its great central location which meant you could pop back and leave things if you'd been shopping or needed a quick break. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean and the showers were really hot and flowed at full strength. The room at the front was quite noisy but we enjoyed...

Excellent location, very nice service, clean bathrooms, rooms simple but nice. The hostel is located in the center, two minutes from Las Ramblas, walking distance from all the major Barcelona attractions, I am recomending it to anyone! Great service.. the only weak element is that it's not the quietest in the world but you can still get some quality sleep...

Had to go up 1 flight of steps to hotel. Good security. Very close to La Rambla and therefore close to most attractions, Mario who runs hotel was very nice and helpful - eventually managed to get a good flow of hot water for shower after a couple of days. If you have a room at front there can be...

We stayed at Pension 45 for 3 nights of our 5 nights in Barcelona. We had read that there was noise, but thought it couldn be that bad. <it Was! The <pension is at a convergence of 3 streets that echo, and funnel the noise right into the hotel. <one lady we heard screaming- we went to check her out,...

Thank you for all these interesting comments. Pension 45 is situated in one of the best places within Barcelona. We are next to some of the most emblematic places of the city such as Las Ramblas, Plaça Catalunya, the Cathedral, ...and ofcourse, these places are full of people engoying the city. For all these reasons and because we have read...

My friends and I booked this room because it was cheaper than hostels in Barcelona, being the New Year and everything. Normally I think hostels are MUCH cheaper, but for the 30th, 31st of December, this was the best deal we could find. Seriously: STAY IN A HOSTEL! Pension 45 was terrible. Dirty, creepy, in a bad neighborhod. Ok, the...

If you want a night's sleep in this hotel, make sure to get blind drunk. Otherwise, either the noise in the street will keep you awake, or the owner's dog, barking all night in reception, will do the trick. Don't complain to the proprietor about his dog though, unless you can converse in fluent Spanish. He won't speak a word...

Excellent location! BUT... my nephew stayed in a room infested with cockroaches. They were everywhere... on the floor, on the walls, and even in the closet. The room I stayed in was very very noisy. The balcony doors did not close all the way so you could hear the crowded street right below. The walls were so thin that we...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
