We stayed as a family - two adults and two children - we used rooms 3 and 4 Room 3 now has its own ensuite toilet and shower - room 4 uses a shared room - no problem at all as I think at the most there are 5 bedrooms here and there are other bathrooms to share at other...

Casa de Marcelo is conveniently located opposite the Estacio de Franca station in the trendy El Born quarter of the Barri Gothic which is full of fantastic shops and restaurants. All of the accommodation was spotlessly clean and Olivier and the team couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We'd certainly go back again and don't have any reservations about...

Casa de Marcelo was recommended to us by a friend, and it didn't disappoint! Beautiful little B&B in an amazing part of Barca-El Born. Marcelo, Olivier & Nick were very friendly & helpful, the rooms were lovely, clean, comfortable & nicely decorated. And the location.....right in the middle of fantastic bars, tapas bars, restaurants & shopping, Cal Pep over the...

We were very happy of our stay in the "Casa de Marcelo"! The neighborhood is very pleasant and well located, close to the Barri Gothic and 2mns walk to the subway station "Barceloneta". The appartment was very clean and freshly renovated, with a nice decoration. It's also possible to use the modern kitchen if necessary. The breakfast was very good...

La Casa de Marcelo is quasi-perfect: a warm and helpful welcome from Marcelo and Olivier, a very nice room, attentive service from Nick, but especially it has what real estate agents call the "location location location" factor. El Born is in itself an increasingly trendy area, but la Casa de Marcelo is also just a ten minute walk from the...

We spent five nights in the newly renovated Casa de Marcelo an had a fabulous time. The location is perfect, the rooms clean and comfortable, the breakfast nice but most significantly Marcelo and his colleague Olivier were so helpful! From changing plane tickets to helping us plan our day to sharing a story over breakfast they just made the holiday...

Marcelo and Olivier did a great job of welcoming their guests into their lovely bed and breakfast. They were also very helpful in making arrangments for sightseeing. The rooms were nice and comfortable. The place is near the harbor and convenient to many sight around Barcelona. I would highly recommend it if you are seeking something different from a standard...

This place is lovely! An eighteenth century building that is now apartments and one of those happens to be Casa de Marcelo. The interior decor is really nice. Marcelo has a keen eye for what works mixing old and contemporary to good effect. We stayed in Room 4. The entire place was spotlessly clean. Breakfast is a simple affair served...

We stayed five nights in early November 2011 and based ourselves here to explore Barcelona. It was easy to get here by train from the airport, and to get around by public transport as well. The room was very clean and comfortable, cosy but not small. The bathrooms, though shared, were always in impeccable condition and we never really crossed...

I been to the Barcelona two weeks back and stayed at this place. The place is charming and cozy. The location is near the metro and at the centre of many eateries, including the famous tapas place - Cal Pep. Rooms are made everyday. I would also like to mention that the wifi connection is poor and hindered my research...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
