It was a wonderful feeling to stay at such a hotel when you for the first time visited the big and large city of Barcelona. We felt that we had a home during these days, not only a hotel room. The kind atmosphere and the personal reception and service was unique.

If you are wondering where to stay in Barcelona this is really a no brainer - just stay here! Great location, very friendly staff and lovely host, super comfy bed to rest weary 'traveller legs', good coffee, and elegant decorations throughout.

Barcelona was the first stop of our overall trip, so arriving at Casa de Marcelo marked the completion of 12 hours of traveling by plane, bus, and metro from California. How nice it was to sit down with Suzanna (sp?) in the main room where she got us some water, checked us in, then took the time to mark up...

This was our first time in Barcelona. The staff was very helpful in assisting us on this adventure. We had outstanding service and accomodations. We would recommend staying at Casa de Marcelo. The surrounding area is easy to navigate. When we return to Barcelona we will stay here again. This B & B made our experience truly memorable.

Traveling by myself, half for work and half for pleasure, it was a perfect base for me. I think my room is the only one without an en-suite bathroom, but i never found that to be a problem. Also having been a b&b owner myself, i appreciated the way the house is run (the scheduling and being able to leave...

It was an enjoyable 5 night stay at the bnb and although we couldnt book in time for the personal toilet, we never once had a problem using it. Toilets and rooms were perfectly clean. The location is fantastic, located in the Gothic/El Born quarters with barceloneta beach just a short 5min walk away and one can either stop at...

Get off at barceloneta metro which will be easier to locate the BnB. Spoilt for choices for food. BnB is only minutes away from the many alleys of shops as well which made it easier to go back for short rests. We stayed in Room 2 which is the smallest but room is clean and comfortable. Was skeptical about sharing...

Ditto on all the other positive reviews. Zuzanna and Nick made our stay in Barcelona a real pleasure. I would add that there is a nice area for a continental breakfast and it was great fun meeting all the other travelers from around the world. Travelers from Britain, Scotland, Hong Kong and Croatia were there during our three night stay....

My partner & I stayed at Casa de Marcelo 2nd & 3rd Sept & absolutely loved it right from the start with a very warm welcome from Zuzana & Nick as Marcelo was away at the time. We arrived a day late as our Emirates flight was delayed so we fully expected to pay for that night but very kindly...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
