On the way back home we decided to have a stopover in the “4 stars hotel Vinci Frontaura” in the city of Valladolid, this is the first time we booked a night here. It has a strategically location in an green area, close to the Paseo Zorilla, opposite Alameda Park. The hotel offers 94 very clean double rooms equipped with in the first place comfy beds, a full range of comforts. Among this all a very friendly staff. The Vincci Frontaura hotel features a buffet restauration, we have given it a try to have souper in the hotel, and where very surpriced with the quality of the food. And it has also a private car-garage underneed the hotel, very spacious and a plus for the hotel. We wil in any case return to stay in the hotel.

We stayed 2 nights in August and enjoyed the hotel and its location. 50 minutes walk from the city center but surrounded by restaurants and cafés. The AC helped with the scorching heat. The pool was pleasant too. We would come back!

City hotel just on outskirts but with plenty of local bars/restaurants close by. Stylish building and interior. Onsite garage parking and few street spaces also. Outdoor swimming pool and relaxing area at rear - a good extra. Very nice helpful and professional staff. Lovely breakfast for 12 euro -hot and cold dishes with lots of choices, all prepared and served well. Nicest hotel I have been to for a time.

Easy hotel to find and good onsite parking. Our room was spacious, large double bed and very nice bathroom. The only thing that spoiled our stay was the aircon in the room which was terrible. The room was hot and stuffy and despite staff turning it down to its lowest setting, having raised the issue with staff on the front desk, we could not get the temperature in the room to drop below 26.5⁰C. We complained to staff on the front desk and just received a lot of shrugging and were told there was nothing they could (would) do; not even a fan available apparently. Had a really bad night's sleep; thank goodness we were only staying one night.

Would recommend avoiding if you don't want a hot stuffy room and staff who are not interested in resolving issues.

So glad we had only booked one night. Our room was so hot. Tried asking staff to sort it out or out us in another room but they were not interested in trying to help. Asked to speak to the manager and was told there wasn't one in the hotel!

Interesting to see other reviews with similar problems with the air con.

Wouldn't think about staying here again.

This is a friendly comfortable hotel 2 1/2 hours from Santander. Excellent stop going in either direction. Really secure parking. Lovely staff. The restaurant food is simple but good. Excellent breakfast buffet too. We have already booked our next stay.

You could not pay me to stay in this hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights and it was shocking from start to finish. I expected prices to be high for food and drinks but didn’t expect to be told the kitchen was closed when I ordered some food from the menu on display in the bar.

The Spa was closed so I can’t rate it, but I was told the Spa was the source of the smell I experienced in the Hotel Toilets next to the lobby.

The air-conditioning in my room caused a terrible smell to the point where I had to leave and ask for something to be done. To be fair the hotel used some sort of gadget to get rid of the smell but no explanation was given and I wasn’t told when the process was completed. So I was kept waiting around unnecessarily.

My room was dirty, particularly the bathroom, as was the whole hotel. Food on the floor in the bar, used tissues on the floor in the toilets. Pubic hairs and stains on the toilet in the hotel lobby (the same for two days running).

This hotel is one of those that uses electronic “bells” to summon service to the bar or pool area. I’m not a fan, but didn’t expect to order a “Radler” as published on the menu to be told that they would make one with Fanta Limon. Of course it tasted disgusting.

The fancy fountain in the outside pool in the hotel photos was not working.

The wifi was slow and unsecured. Not appropriate for business.

Paying 1.50 euro for a coffee that comes out of a capsule is a complete rip-off. 20 yards away you can have a fresh ground cup of coffee for less and they will give you a complimentary snack.

However the most important factor in my visit was the indifferent attitude of the staff to everything that they did. I felt I should apologize for getting in their way.

I asked the hotel if there was something wrong and why I was experiencing so many issues. They said everything was normal.

Maybe I just had bad luck but I’m not convinced.

In a word, disappointing. We have stayed in this chain at Salamanca and loved it. This does not feel at all like a four star. It was clean but other than that so many things were below par. Reception staff couldn’t seem to raise a smile when we checked in. Dinner didn’t open til 8.30pm. Too late for us so we went to the food court at the shopping centre! Our room was small. The extra child’s bed by the window had no duvet so he woke up cold in the morning. I mentioned this as we checked out as a suggestion for housekeeping and was told there was a duvet in the cupboard - we didn’t see one. Shower thermostat broken (?) - water would suddenly run scolding. So two of us avoided the shower (was no bath). Breakfast on Saturday - we were down more than half an hour before it closed but all three hot trays empty save for half a few slices of courgette. Asked if they could be refilled, 6 rashers of bacon appeared between us and the other guests. We were offered eggs cooked to order - waitress was nice as were the eggs. Gym/ spa shut - restricted hours. Pool outside but had no water in it. I don’t like writing negative reviews but on balance this was not good value at all and we will give this hotel a miss in future.

Two weeks ago I booked this hotel through it's own website. I normally use Booking.com but I read somewhere that you can get a better deal booking direct. 16 hrs later I found it necessary to change my travel arrangements and phone the hotel to change the booking to a date a week earlier. I was advised that I could not amend the booking as it was made using their website and that this was in the terms and conditions. This reservation included parking and breakfast so I asked if some agreement could be reached regarding these additions if I made a new reservation for a week earlier. I was told that they could not do this. I then emailed the hotel asking for some leeway on this "customer unfriendly" policy as I thought it might simply be the receptionist misunderstanding the situation. I did not get a reply to that email.
A few days later I booked the hotel again for my revised date (using booking.com who gave free cancellation and alterations at the same price as the hotel's website) requesting again parking and breakfast. When we arrived I explained the situation again to the receptionist who again turned me down flat when I asked for consideration to the €90 I had lost to them. Surely they would not charge me twice for breakfasts not eaten and parking not used. But they did.
To compound the situation, when asked if we had used their hotel before and answering that this was the third time this year and more the previous year, we were then allocated the smallest double room they must have. This was extremely small, so beware, when looking at all their nice pictures of lovely big rooms, they also have small rooms. This meant we had a smaller double bed than we are used to resulting in a poor nights sleep. Oh! And the wash-hand basin had a large crack in it.
I didn't complain at the time as I thought there would be little point in it, and I decided to put the whole thing down to experience with the knowledge that they would not be experiencing my presence again.
It's a pity, because it's a nice hotel, but clearly their policy of no alterations to bookings has left me €90 shorter and them with a one star review.
