The Apartments Alta is a building situated in the touristic of Puerto de la Cruz, opposite a small shopping centre, less than 100 metres from Martianez beach and pools. Puerto de la Cruz is a town with two mixing personalities: the identity of a fishing village and the cosmopolitan feeling which has provided it with its touristic identity since 1960.

We stayed 17 nights and enjoyed every minute.. I expected small very old studios but we got bedroom and living room..One balcony outside the bedroom and a corner balcony outside the kitchen living room. Apartment number 607. Cleaning of apartment every day.. except Sundays. Cosy little cafe where you can enjoy breakfasts and lunch for a small amount. That is if you don’t feel like using the kitchen in the apartment.. Alta is situated 4 minutes walk from a small mall with a large supermarket.. 5 minutes from the beach and all the wonderful saltwater swimming pool.. We’ll be back 😁

We stayed at Alta Apartments from 5 to 15 August. After a very late arrival and a blip with the electrics we settled down in very spacious clean apartments with daily room service. On the fourth floor we looked onto a derelict building where squatters lived with their dog. No problem really but a nicer view would have been good! Each morning we had breakfast with plenty of variety but little courtesy. Not even a Buenos Dias was ever heard!! The room maids were more pleasant though. No in house entertainment here but we found enough in the vast variety of cafe bars/restaurants along the pretty promenade which comes to life nightly with musicians opera singers and buskers. My two grandchildren managed to swim with their Mum in the safety of the tiny harbour watched closely by Life Guards. A lovely holiday overall but little to occupy the youngsters in Puerto de La Cruz.

We were a group of 11, ages from 1 to 74, stayed here for 14 nights. Our expectations weren't particularly high as the apartments were relatively inexpensive and the reviews weren't fantastic. We intended to use Alta as a base from which we could explore Puerto de la Cruz. Check in was after midnight but was fast and smooth. Initially we got three rooms on the 8th floor but once we got to the rooms we felt that we were too high as we had five young children in our party. We went back to reception and were quickly relocated to one room on the first floor and two rooms on the second floor without any complaint or hesitation. This could probably have been easily avoided had we contacted the apartments directly at the point of booking. We had views on two sides of the building. One overlooking neighbouring apartments and hotels, the other two rooms overlooking apartments and a derelict building. The derelict building caused no issues at all, it wasn't pretty but we didn't go to Puerto de la Cruz to look out the window. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were quite hard but still ok. The kitchens areas were adequately equipped although we did eat out 13 of our 14 nights there. The rooms were cleaned every day except one of the two Sunday's of our stay, towels also changed daily. The televisions had a lot of channels, only one English channel; BBC world service news. But they also had a lot of radio channels so we were fine with just music as we didn't travel to Tenerife to watch TV. The free Alta internet worked in all three rooms although the signal strength was poor in some areas of each apartment. Most phone companies provide free roaming using your own data these days so it wasn't an issue. We never used the small cafe/bar that was part of the building for food although we did purchase soft drinks, alcohol and coffee there, all inexpensive and all with friendly service. This bar did shut early each afternoon but the local supermarket is across the street so everything you could need was easy to get. The pool area is quite small but very quiet. The pool is also small, I think 1.4m to 1.55m in depth so perfect for children and perfect for a quick dip for adults. There is no air conditioning so the rooms are very hot, especially in the night but €20 buys you a fan in one of the local shops which negates that issue. Our airport pickup was at 4pm. We had to hand the keys in for one apartment at midday but we were allowed to retain the keys to the other two apartments until 4pm at no extra cost. Very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location, minutes from a supermarket, minutes from the beach and Lago martianez, minutes from restaurants and cafes. The Alta is on a hill but so is every other building in the town. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or to recommend to anyone looking for a basic clean apartment in Puerto de la Cruz.

We stayed at this location this summer. Three issues bothered us a lot: 1/ no wifi if you stay in rooms that are in the middle of the building, rooms ending with 3 or 6 2/ if you have to wait for your room during check-in (hotel's fault), you get no refund, but if you want to do late check-out, you pay 20Euros. Does not look fair! 3/ the pool is right next to a very busy street, it is very noisy and smelly, since there are many German diesels passing by and driving up the hill. Not a nice relaxing time at the pool.

In few words: there are better places in Puerto de la Cruz where you can stay for this money. The only good thing about it is close to everything. On the other hand: hot water for max 10 minutes, the bar closes at 1pm, car park €7.00 a day.
