Hotel's Favourite
We stayed in room 405 from 24th Feb to 3rd March 2023. We absolutely loved our stay here! From the moment we stepped in with the wonderful perfume smell, to the amazing food choices every day, to the great suite we had facing the Teide, we couldn't have been happier!! The views were breathtaking, and the hotel grounds were great!
The staff were very professional & friendly & a special thanks to the following people:
Türguay - Maitre D (Spelling of name might not be correct, sorry!)
Angie - Restaurant
Maria - Restaurant
Ludivinia - Restaurant
Antonio - Restaurant
Dolores - Cleaner
We highly recommend coming here & will definitely be coming back!! Thank you to all the wonderful staff, even the ones not mentioned above!!

If you are reading this then you are either considering a holiday to Tenerife or one of those who always go to a hotel in the south
There is nothing wrong with the south if you like the over the top touristic areas with little character
Go to hotel la Las Aquilas in Puerto de la Cruz, between May and October and you will find sun ,a real Spanish feel and a little of the mass tourism of the south and with prices up to 30/40% less than the South !!
Out of these dates the weather is a comfortable 18-22C so still ok and many take the opportunity to explore the area on foot and by car
We split our holidays between Las Aguilas and another great hotel in the south in the ne of the few areas that has escaped becoming totally touristic
The covid precautions are excellent in every area of the hotel and maintained by a superb staff who make every effort to make every guest feel special
At Las Aguilas every room is a suite , a double balcony, large lounge with extra kitchen area, large separate bedroom and a bathroom with jacuzzi . A choice of sea or mountain views!
The dining room is spacious, light , airy with an outside seating area
Food is excellent with a great choice at every meal and especially good since the lady Director goes into the kitchen before meals and checks every dish before it goes out
That she and senior staff eat in the restaurant says it all!
The are two large pool areas in the best maintained gardens on the island. One in front of the hotel with a bar and restaurant and the other a very short walk away if you want total solitude
The childrens pool is safe and in the front of the hotel pool area and gardens
The town of Puerto de la Cruz is a short distance away and the hotel has a courtesy bus for visits. Yes there are a few tourist type shops but the town has returned to a true Spanish feel since the development of the south as a tourist destination
A short distance inland and you will find lovely villages with vineyards serving wonderful home made traditional meals or if it’s to your taste a shopping Mall which must be the biggest on the island
So visit Hotel Las Aguilas for a wonderful holiday

Stayed 10 days at Las Aquilas in Jan 2022. I cannot praise the hotel and staff enough. The hotel is spotlessly clean, all the staff are friendly and even though when we visited the hotel was practically empty all staff members including the cleaning staff went above and beyond their duty to make you feel welcome and safe.
The hotel is in an elevated position overlooking Puerto de la Cruz with views of the city & sea or of the mountains including Mt Teide. Although there isn't really anything in close proximity to walk to, the free shuttle bus runs 4 times a day to and from the hotel into town. For this reason, and the fact that it is very reasonably priced to upgrade, I would recommend going All Inclusive, but if not you could jump on the shuttle every day to go into town for lunch etc.
Rooms are very spacious, all are suites with plenty of furniture and wardrobe space, plus a fridge. Food is plentiful and varies every single mealtime. There are various choices of food to suit everyone, and as soon as the restaurant is closed the snack bars are open so you will never go hungry.
There is plenty to do including 2 pools, tennis court, outdoor games, indoor and outdoor pool tables, morning exercises, nice walks etc
The hotel has done everything to make it safe during Covid. As well as the usual mask wearing in public area's and hand sanitiser placed everywhere, there are disposable gloves in the restaurant for guests to use when using the serving spoons, (the serving spoons are also replaced regularly). Staff keep masks on at all times, guests wear masks each and every time they get up from the table to re-fill plates. Tables in the restaurant and bars are well spaced as are the sunbeds around both pools. Furniture is constantly being sanitised, even the fabric couches in public areas are sprayed and I watched the snack bar chairs all being thoroughly cleaned regularly including the chair legs!
I would definitely recommend this hotel especially at the moment whilst, although restrictions have been lifted to some extent, everywhere is still very quiet so is perfect for a relaxing holiday with lots of food and drink.

Overall nice hotel, friendly staff and spectacular views. We stayed all inclusive which is a little confusing at first. You have the choice of only 1 restaurant for breakfast and evening free of charge, there is a alacarte Italian restaurant available with 20% discount to all inclusive guests in the evenings. Lunch you can dine at restaurant or pool bar which has snacks including, pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets, chips, toasties, salads (all included with all inclusive). Evening food did change each night with chocolate fountain on 1 night of stay. Some cocktails included with all inclusive but not all, same goes with spirits and liqueurs only local spirits included. All soft drinks ie, Coke, Fanta, Sprite, fruit juice (not fresh) included with all inclusive. There is ice cream pots available from pool bar included but branded ice creams you still need to pay.
Location wise, spectacular views just slightly remote for those wanting lively atmosphere. Shuttle bus very reliable and free to take you into town. There is a nice shopping centre over the road but will cost around €10 to get to due to road layout. It’s the same to get back from centre of town in taxi also. Lots of bars and restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz. Towels are available to hire with a refundable deposit for the pool if tokens returned at end of stay. Gardens around pool area are immaculate however the Pool doesn’t allow inflatables which didn’t please my kids, you can however take an inflatable ball. It was easy to get a sun bed no need to reserve beds and we were a group of 9 and we all got a bed easily. Room layout we had a sea view suite which had a lounge which they converted sofa to a single and placed another single in for 2nd child, seperate bedroom with very large bed, large bathroom with whirlpool bath. Aircon only worked in bedroom, lounge was broken, same was the case for other rooms booked which wasn’t great. Our room was 320 and view was amazing. Will say the pool had very sharp surroundings believe it’s to stop slipping over but not the most comfortable to sit on the edge of the pool. They have a larger adults only pool for over 14 year olds which is the one with the large waterfall.

Dear Grant, Thank you for your exhaustive evaluation about your recent stay and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. We have taken note of your comment regarding the air condition in your room and also the edge of the pool. Unfortuantely, inflatables are not allowed in the pool due to safety reasons, especially in high season as other guests and most likely kids may be under the inflatebles and may have difficulties to get air. We hope to see you again on your next visit to Tenerife. We remain at your entire disposal, Yours faithfully, Daniel V. Guest Experience Manager Hotel las Águilas Tenerife – Affiliated by Meliá

The only positive side I can say about this hotel is the location because you have a beautiful panorama over a part of the island. We booked a room with the sea view. Its size was pretty good. The cleaning ladies are trying their best and are friendly…
That’s about all with the positive feedback. The noise from the other neighbours from next door or from upstairs is continuous, also from the people outside or at the pool. You can hear everything like they are next to you in the room. The beds are so uncomfortable and the pillows are a real joke. They are thin and long, like the wind protections you put in winter at the windows. The TV is maybe from 1980 the size of a microwave.
The pool was always empty, no one dared to get into the freezing water ( heated water is still a foreign word for the hotel management).
The food at the restaurant is the worst we had in our lives. Although we bought a half board, we only went to breakfast and dinner maybe 3-4 times in 10 days. Luckily we rented a car to go and eat outside this place otherwise it would have clearly been the worst holiday ever. The food quality is really bad and always the same. The coffee, the milk taste horrible. The juices have colour only, not taste at all as they’ve been diluted with water to extreme. The meat is tasteless.
All in all, our opinion about this hotel is that it hasn’t seen any investment in the last 20 years and is lacking so much.

Nicely greeted on arrival and room immediately allocated.
Room was an apartment with a large separate seating area and large bedroom, with a balcony with table and chairs accessible from both rooms. The bathroom was large with a whirlpool bath. All areas were kept spotless throughout our stay.
Restaurant was large and well maintained, again spotlessly clean. It has an outdoor seating area as well as the indoor air conditioned area. Food was excellent throughout our stay, always plenty of hot and cold choices at all meal times. Although there were not many residents while we were there, there was always a good choice available.
The bar area and staff were pleasant and soon learned our orders.
There are 2 pool areas, one directly next to the hotel and another short walk through gardens. Both areas were very clean and had plenty of sun beds. You are only allowed plastic drink containers near the pools. Snacks at the bar during the day great quality and we’re not kept hot. We tended to use the dining room at all times.
The shuttle into the town works well, although a short wait is likely.
All in all a very nice hotel and a very restful break.

Rooms are suites, include balcony, lounge/kitchen/diner in one room and a separate bedroom.. In the kitchen there’s no microwave and cooker is disconnected for safety reasons. But the fridge is handy and sink and cupboards.
Beds are two singles pushed together and the comfort varies depending on the room you choose.
Premium rooms are only on the top floor and cost a lot more than the others, but you get a sea view, a coffee maker, 3 pods a day! A kettle, but no coffee. You can bring coffee up from the restaurant though if you are all inclusive.
We were all inclusive, rules have changes recently and the bar is only open from 5pm which keeps people from getting too drunk. I didn’t see anyone drunk while I was there. There is alcohol available at meal times in the form of wine and beer. This is wonderful. The food is also amazing. So much choice, great quality and you can take your time and just indulge yourself.
Every day has slightly different selection of foods, but some things are there every day, like bread, olives, cheese ham etc.
Most of the guests are German, but there are. Ice people and keep themselves to themselves. There’s plenty of sun beds and 3 pools, but the water is very cold in the adult only pool, so the only pool for swimming is the middle pool near the hotel which is a bit small for swimming.
The pizza and day time restaurant near the pool is a waste of time. it’s always empty and no wonder. The food is not included in all inclusive and if you’re in all inclusive why would you want to eat there, the food is no better.
Hotel is located at the top of a hill but a bus takes you to puerto to de la Cruz 6 times a day for free, it’s a 15 minute drive and drops you at an indoor shopping centre.
There’s no good beaches here. Sand is black and sea quite rough, so your hotel pool is important.
Be careful with the rooms. I booked with Tui and you get a basic suite on the ground floor overlooking the car park. If you want to upgrade to another room there’s several choices available but it will make your trip quite a bit more expensive. It’s quite noisy if you are not on the sea view side of the hotel as there’s a busy motorway not far away and you have to close your doors and windows to stop the noise.

I believed the reviews of this hotel which was a mistake. This could be a great hotel with a fair bit of work. Making it into an aparthotel would be worthwhile. It does need updating to match 4 star expectations
Good points:
Views from the hotel are great. Steep walk into the town but nice to do. Courtesy bus is useful. Public transport is quick and cheap
Breakfast buffet was good with a decent selection
Supermarket is easy to walk to
The hotel is clean and problems are rectified quickly.
Bad points
No soundproofing for rooms, can hear conversations from corridors, rooms above, below and to the side. Loud music was played from rooms. This was not good
Terrible mattress on the bed - never come up against such a lumpy, uncomfortable mattress. Dreadful weeks sleep
No drink making facilities in the room despite the kitchenette ( which is only equipped if paid for)
Unusual to not have toiletry items such as shower caps, tissues, emergency toothbrushes etc in a four star hotel
Room in general looked tired - very faded furniture cushions. Woodwork was shabby. Balcony railings were quite badly rusted
Adult pool was unheated and icy. It was unusable because it was so cold
Gym area exists but there is very little to it - quite disappointed
Courtesy bus does not run on Saturday afternoons or Sundays. When it does run the timings can be as much as 20 minutes open - which was a heart stopping moment because it almost made us late for checkout and the airport transfer
Given the hotels location at the top of a hill at the top of another steep hill it was surprising there was no shop to buy some essentials - large bottles of drinking water for example. Found one vending machine that did not sell much
WiFi was slow - not to the speeds it was suggested to be

Booked the hotel for a weekend of my husband’s birthday. The only rooms left were a suite with a mountain view on the fifth floor .The bedroom was big with plenty of wardrobe space and patio doors leading out to a long balcony with a table and four chairs . Bathroom was a great size too with a jacuzzi bath and a shower overhead .
The living room had a sofa chairs and a table with a kitchen at one end .This part baffled me as there was a sink a working fridge with freezer box but absolutely nothing else . Apparently a kettle can be hired .We would have preferred a room without the kitchen . That said we had views of the sea and the mountains, which were stunning .I had read that the pillows were hard so I brought my own and I was glad I had as they were very hard . Bed was huge but wasn’t the most comfortable either and quite hard .The hotel itself is spotless but quite dated .The grounds and pools are beautifully kept . We only had breakfast, which was very good and for such a huge dining room the staff coped extremely well. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. There’s plenty of car parking space and although it’s a bit out of the town and up a very steep hill ,we just used taxis into the centre which were only around 7 euros .
There is a courtesy bus that runs a few times to the centre .We would stay here again but would definitely bring our own pillows .

Dear Lorna, Thank you very much for your comment. We are happy to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. We also have taken note of your comment about the kitchen in your suite. Let us please explain to you that the suite has a kitchenette due to historic reasons but as we offer hotel service we do not equip the kitchenette. We are sorry for the disappointment. Nevertheless, it is possible to rent it. We have also taken note of your comment regarding the pillows. We would be very happy to welcome you in the future again and send you sunny greetings. We did not know the hotel and we had not seen much advertising for it, because it is not on the beach, but is on top of a small mountain in Puerto de la Cruz.
⭐️It is a 4* hotel, but if it modernized its facilities and with some small changes, it would be a 5*, without a doubt.
👩💼 The treatment received by the staff is excellent, always attentive to our needs.
🏨 Its facilities are enviable by other hotels on the island: the heated outdoor pool, an adults-only pool, the beauty of the views from its gardens or from its buffet restaurant terrace, etc.
I recommend this hotel, even if you see that the rooms are not as modern as those of other hotels, you will not regret it if you stay with them. During our stay they have had small details that have made the difference with other hotels, such as:
- Parking at the hotel is free
- The minibar in the room is free and is replenished daily
- They upgraded our room to the highest category of rooms they have in the hotel, going from a normal (and cheaper) room to a Premium Suite on the top floor with spectacular views. (For being a member of the MeliáRewards program)
- Private area in the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a waiter who served us at the table.
- Option to have breakfast in the room (a la carte) for free.
- Option to have breakfast at the buffet, but being able to choose between buffet or a la carte breakfast (or a combination of both)
Finally, I recommend that you join the MeliáRewards program to enjoy many more advantages, just for being a member of the program (it is free)
