Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The H10 Tenerife Playa hotel garners mixed reviews; while many guests commend its prime location near the sea and cleanliness, some express dissatisfaction with the value, citing high costs for amenities and lackluster experiences. Opinions on service vary, with accolades for staff friendliness contrasting reports of slow service.
The lively entertainment is a hit, though noise levels and outdated decor can detract from the ambiance. Rooms are criticized for being cramped and dated, despite being clean and occasionally offering pleasant views.

Hotel's Favourite
When you go back to a hotel, you never expect it to be as good as the first time, but I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel was as welcoming this time also.
The staff are really helpful and friendly. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff that make your stay a pleasure and who seem genuinely interested in ensuring that you have a wonderful holiday. A huge thank you to Jonas, Ana in the El Lagar, Pablo just to mention a few more names that I haven’t mentioned in my previous review and I can only apologise to the other staff who deserve to be mentioned by name also. A special mention to Miranda and Augustino always who take time to ensure that guests are enjoying their stay.
The food and drinks are good with a variety of options in the buffet as well as the El Lagar for Ala Carte dining if you want something a bit different. We would recommend the Privilege upgrade if you enjoy more choice for both food and drinks but this is not essential for a good experience.
They are doing some refurbishment works to improve the hotel but this did not negatively affect our stay. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms and the room was of an excellent standard.
All in all this was another great stay. Thank you to the entire team at the H10 Tenerife Playa that made this possible.

Some really positive points:
1. Felt really safe here during Covid. The hotel did everything it could, e.g. hand sanitisers throughout, one way system for the buffet at meal times, table service only for drinks, sunbeds spaced out etc.
2. The staff are excellent. Really helpful. Quick service for drinks at the bars or in the dining room. Special thanks to the woman who was working in the bar, who did an amazing job.
3. Bedroom was very clean, and serviced each day.
4. The hotel location is great, right on the sea front and at the end of a promenade of shops and restaurants.
The main issue for us was the food. We found the breakfast buffet good, but lunch and dinners weren't to our tastes. On a par with 1980s school dinners. But with a penchant for putting tinned tuna in as many different dishes as possible. Having said this, I appreciate this is very much a matter of taste as I overheard another guest raving about how great the food was. My guess is that if you are a good cook (or live with one) and you usually go to high quality restaurants you'll be disappointed with the food here. If you shop at Iceland and go to McDonald's it will be lovely. Each to their own.
Other small things, the bathroom was tiny. The bath isn't full size, so it's OK for small children but anyone adult sized couldn't get their legs and torso in the water at the same time. Room was on a par with 3 star in the hotel.
For us, the food is a big part of our holiday, hence the 3 star review, but I do want to reiterate how great the staff were and I'd be happy to stay here again but on a bed and breakfast basis.

Although fewer hotel guests the staff were excellent, and the food was very varied with far more hygiene than in England carried out. The pool area was lovely, and our view of the sea from our balcony was spectacular. Watching the surfers on the huge waves was amazing.
You could have any drink you wished with the all inclusive. Even cocktails which made it a reasonable priced holiday. I would highly recommend this hotel, and the position so near the shops. Our room was cleaned every day, and you can pay for a safe/fridge, and small deposit on beach towels .We did take our own kettle ,but you could hire one from reception..

So sad to write this review after many stays previously at this hotel and been going to Puerto de la Cruz for over 35 years. The standards have certainly dropped.
1. Arrived only to find we were allocated a room so far away from the hotel amenties it didn't even feel that we were guests more like staff quarters. We had a 4 year old and the room only had a shower. Reception were very defensive and argumentative when we asked to be moved with the manager saying that there was a bath in the room when there clearly wasn't. After standing our ground we were eventually given a room on the ground floor although only big enough really for a couple we settled for it as it had a bath for the little one.
2. The room was dated needed refurbishment with some broken tiles and some mould. Tv didn't work and was told by reception 'have you plugged it in'. Eventually someone came out to fix it. Key card needed recharging one day after arriving. You also have to wear a wristband during your stay which is a bit holiday camp style
3. Maids were great and friendly.
4. Pool area was busy with the usual sun bed grabbers. This was made worse as if you are a privilege guest your sunbed is reserved for you.
5. Loud music played around the pool when pool activities were on. It was overly loud.
6. Lifeguards are great and do their best to help you in any way they can.
7. Waiters and waitresses are friendly in the dining area although you do have to download the hotel site and book what time you want to go to breakfast, dinner etc. Food is luke warm and tasteless. Alot of chicken, pork and hake. If you go down for first sitting at 18.30 they haven't even started the show cooking so you have to wait another 15 to 20 minutes. Collection of empty plates were not taken away quick enough.
8. If you want a drink at the bar it is all waiter service and you can only choose from a few cocktails. If you ask for one that isn't on their list of about 6 they cannot do it. They have never heard of a daiquiri. You cannot take your drink into the dining room.
9. Evening entertainment is basically non existent most nights just a couple singing.
10. Childrens entertainment is only on in the evening on a Tuesday Thursday and Sunday for half an hour, although the children's entertainer Natalie is absolutely fantastic and is amazing with the children.
11. The best part of this hotel now is the location where it use to be the full package and sadly we will not return especially for the price you pay it does not work out to be good value for money. We will however always return to Puerto

We stayed in a corner suite with privilege service for ten days in February, very welcoming from the reception staff and the guest relations manager upon arrival. Room very well prepared and clean, views to front and side with balcony, separate shower room to bathroom.
The grounds where well kept and the location was great with nice walks up and down the promenade, small gravel beach to the front of the hotel and the Lago Martiánez opposite. The roof top has a nice solarium but needs a little TLC, we didn't use the pools but spent the majority of our time on the old sixth floor solarium, this is not really mentioned as it is old and is in slight disrepair though there was work ongoing there on our visit, but its quiet, convenient and has nice views to the front.
Breakfast was good, the main restaurant had its own privilege section where you where waiter served with a choice of hot cooked food from a menu or you could use the buffet section, The lunch time meal where server in the pool bar restaurant again with its own privilege section of the menu, the food and service was very good. The evening meals where taken in the same section of the main restaurant as breakfast, this was a little disappointing from a privilege perspective, there where many previous reviews regarding the two tier system of the privilege guests at the evening meal, TBH I was not a fan of sitting upstairs and walking up and down stairs with hot food from the buffet. We dined in the pool bar restaurant one evening for a special valentines meal which was very good, well organised and executed, this would be a better location for an evening meal for the privilege guests, it was proven that night that the facilities where more than capable and this would open up all the top section of the main dining hall to all guests.
Overall, a good vacation, good hotel with facilities, food and drink, privilege package adequate but just let down by the evening dining options.

We were disappointed with our choice of hotel. The installations need updating and renewing urgently. Rooms were not up to the expected standard for a 4 star H10 hotel. Shabby room and bathroom with old, damaged and dirty paintwork, the shower cubicle was rusty. Carpet on the stairs to the rooms was worn and torn in places.
The staff were mostly friendly and worked hard. The breakfast and dinner was good with plenty of choice. We did not feel safe regarding covid measures. Hand gel was available, although not enforced. Everybody shared utensils to serve themselves in the buffet, gloves were available but no one used them. I saw 2 people taking food with their hands and one guest without a mask in the dining room. No staff reminded guests of covid measures.

The double room is quite small. The balcony cannot even be called a balcony; 2 small chairs and a mini table and the place is full. You have no privacy at all, since you can directly see your neighbors! In the room the only thing that is new is the floor and the bed. The cupboard and the bathroom are old. You have to even pay for the safe separately! I also had to change rooms, because the first one was smelling heavily of smoke.
The food was horrible. There is no choice at all for vegetarians; every evening overcooked boiled vegetables and mashed potatoes. That‘s it. I asked for gnocchis without gambas (which was on the buffet that night)- what I got was gnocchis without any sauce - just out of the hot water!!! What kind of service is this!!! The buffet is mass production with overcooked and unapetizing food. Not worth any money at all. In the morning, you don‘t even get omelettes every day. It depends on what the cook presents (one day omelettes, one day pan cakes...) You get offered fruit from the can in masses and then some water melon, grapes and melon. That‘s it what they understand under fresh fruit. Every day the same!
The pool area is not inviting at all either. You look at a hotel building that is old and definitely needs renovation. This hotel is overpriced and compared to other hotels not worth the money. I will definitely not be back!

Dear holiday planners
Your vacation-experience depends a lot on the hotel/apartment you stay at. If you are the kind of person who loves to go to a hotel and enjoy your time without needing to worry about food, drinks, etc. H10 Hotel Tenerife Playa on Tenerife is the way to go. Here’s why:
First of all, the hotel is beautiful! No old walls which need to be serviced or broken tiles etc. and definitely worth its 8.0/10 score the general public gave it! I would even say it could get an 8.5. The rooms are very beautiful and modern. The first night i got a mattress which was a bit too hard and asked if they could give me a softer one and low and behold 2 hours later both our mattresses were changed even though we only asked for one. This was top notch service by the hotel.
The hotel staff are friendly and for the most of them really helpful. I could figure out some people didn’t like to work there but in general everyone was overly friendly and we even made a friend at the reception for lunch. She always tried to help us and make a joke or start a conversation to make us smile. When you order a drink or ask something to one of the waiters, you never have to wait. They will always help you straight away
We didn’t use the facilities of the hotel much but when we used them everything was excellent. The hotel has 2 very nice pools which are heated and with normal water (no salt-water). They also had a jacuzzi which wasn’t that big but large enough to fit 4 people. We didn’t use the gym even though it was available for us but we did go to have a look and it looked like everything you want to have to work out was there and cared for.
So do I recommend this hotel even though it is in the north of Tenerife instead of the usual more expensive and touristic area? A definitive yes. Tenerife isn’t huge so you can get to the more touristic areas by bus for only 15 euro round trip. And with the beautiful view and nice rooms you will get enough rest to travel to the other side of tenerife and not feel exhausted at the end of the day .

Arrive at the end of November 2019 for a weeks holiday.
Was greeted at reception with a glass of champagne on arrival.
The room are nice and very clean.
Enough clothes hangers for about a weeks worth of clothes. Complimentary toiletries and chocolates and bottles of water.
We were in a normal room with two single beds.
Room had air con,and there was a hairdryer in bathroom.
As it was on the ground floor it opened out onto the pool area with lovely flowers and fruit trees.
Area around pool was spotless and was been tended to all day.
Jacuzzi was warm and welcoming and one pool was heated and the other wasn’t.
20 yards away was the pool bar which was about £3.50 for a pint and spirits were roughly the same price but big measures.
The restaurant is big but also can be busy and it’s pretty much all you can eat.
You can keep going back for more.
Great selection of food for all nationalities and excellent quality.
The hotel itself is right in the thick of it on the main strip and is flat so getting around is easy.
There are some fantastic bars and restaurants all along the front and if you walk down to the old town it’s beautiful there.
All old buildings and alleyways and paintings on walls.
Back to the hotel, if you like quite a few drinks during the day it’s probably worth upgrading to all inclusive. As we were half board and just paid at the end of the week for what we had.
When we go back next time it will be all inclusive, I think it was £100 more per person but that obviously gets you food at lunchtime at the pool bar.

Brilliant hotel

I stayed here 2 nights so I could walking in the area and Anaga, and the first challenge was parking, as there is none at the hotel, so you can pay to park in Mercadona or try and find a space on the streets, even this time of year was challenging!
However reception was speedy but my room (507) felt slightly dated (bar a funky headboard), but the 3/4 bath and a far too powerful shower just squirted water all over the bathroom ...
Bed wasn’t comfortable and pillow options were poor...
However the pool was good (one heated) with a separate jacuzzi and all the staff were very nice
I booked half board as it was so cheap and firstly I was surprised they were still doing a buffet in this COVID period, which I thought was above average with some interesting dishes like “meat surprise”, bits of meat in a sauce!
However the hot grill was good amd you could choose so,e nice things out of all the options.
So overall for the price I paid for half board was a bargain but I wouldn’t rush back...
