Reviews summary

Powered by AI
Hotel Puerto Palace delights guests with its well-maintained pools, picturesque gardens, and an array of amenities, although the cooler pool temperatures and extra charges for certain services have been mentioned. While the location offers serene views, the hotel's remote setting may challenge those looking to explore local attractions.
Accommodation cleanliness and comfort are consistently commended, despite some noise complaints and a desire for more contemporary conveniences. The inviting atmosphere and nightly entertainment, alongside the commendable service from a friendly staff, contribute to the hotel's charm, even as some guests cite sporadic service lapses.

Hotel's Favourite
Recently returned after spending two weeks in this absolutely wonderful hotel. It is a credit to both management and staff, who all manage to be unfailingly pleasant without being obsequious. How I don't know, considering how hard they work to ensure the comfort of all the guests.
The hotel is spotlessly clean, including the rooms. Everything has been thought of regarding providing comfort for guests.
I stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast buffet choice was incredible. I can't imagine how anyone could complain as there really was plenty to suit everyone, no matter what your taste.
The choice at dinner each evening was also excellent and represented such amazing value at 15 euro that I ended up eating in the hotel for eight nights of my stay, rather than eating out as I would usually do.
Pool areas were a delight and a credit to the gardeners. A special mention to the peaceful naturist adult only roof top pool, which is a haven of peace with amazing views.
I like to explore, so have never come across somewhere before that I can definitely say I will return to but will definitely be returning to Hotel Puerto Palace and stunningly beautiful Puerto de le Cruz.
Many thanks to all the staff at the Hotel Puerto Palace for one of the best holidays I have ever experienced. No wonder so many guests return year after year.

We spent a week over new year at this hotel, enjoying great winter sun. The standard of rooms was good - comfortable and efficiently serviced. We had a sea view with a generous balcony, designed cleverly to maximise privacy. When we arrived, a bowl of fruit, some water and Cava were provided free in the room. Wifi was fine in our room and around the hotel, though it could be stronger in places. Only oddity was having to pay €17 for a code for the room safe, and paying for daily water though it is cheap in the hotel shop. The New Year's Eve gala, with a decent half lobster as part of a five course meal with wine and other non spirits included, was good value. Food in the buffet and half board was fine though not Riu standard - but good for what we paid. Bar area is extensive with entertainment in the usual Canaries style, and excellent value drinks. There is a good cafe and a nice Thai restaurant attached to the hotel too. Plenty of pool space including a quiet adults only upstairs terrace. The walk to the attractive town, with lots of good restaurants, is down hill but as others have said, a €4.20 taxi fare back or a very steep climb. Staff were generally very helpful too. Recommended for a relaxing break.

Stayed in a room with a pool view on the third floor for 8 nights and the views were great especially as we could also see Mount Tiede from our balcony.
The rooms were cleaned and towels changed daily, breakfast was served with plenty of seating inside and outside and was plentiful with cereals, fruit and yogurt, selection of cheeses and meats, breads and rolls and a hot platter which I think was German based, coffees and fruit juices
The hotel is up a steep hill with the stroll down to town being approx 20-30 minutes and a bit of a hike back, however the hotel puts on a bus which goes down and returns around 4 times a day or a good taxi service runs at around €5 dependent on time of day.
The pool was cold due to the time of year we went although there were 2 lovely warm Jacuzzis and there were plenty of sunbeds available during the day.
There was entertainment on each evening in the bar area and bar food is served upto 4pm with pizzas being available for the rest of the evening, there is a cafeteria and a Thai restaurant at the end of the hotel and lots of good bars and restaurants in town which we sampled as we were bed and breakfast only.
All in all we had a lovely weeks holiday, felt totally safe with covid 19 restrictions being adhered to in the hotel
Would have no hesitation in recommending

Although we have not stayed in this hotel, we have been guests around the pool and pool bar.
There are 3 pools including a shallow children’s pool with adjacent playground. The main pool is free form, with a gentle slope with handrail. A circular deeper pool as well as 2 jacuzzis. There is plenty of sun beds with comfortable mattresses on varying areas around the pools, some in the comfortingly shade, as even in February the sun can be very hot mid afternoon.
The pool bar offer a range of hot and cold drinks, cakes and snacks. The pizzas were great. Prices were great value for money, and staff service second to none. As well as around the pool, there was also a shady terrace and adjoining lounge.

The Puerto Palace offers excellent value. Comfortable, clean rooms, good food, lovely pools in landscaped gardens. All staff we met were helpful and friendly.
We were very close to awarding our stay 5 stars. A couple of minor improvements in the room would have made it perfect.
Electric sockets - just two, one in the bathroom and the other by one side of the bed, more needed nowadays!
Secondly there was no mirror in the bedroom, just one in the 'hall' outside the bathroom.
Plenty of hangers, two big beds, nice balcony and very little noise from the corridor.
We chose a sea view room. If we returned we'd probably go for a mountain view. The sea view overlooks the tennis court making it very noisy when use.
There is the Municipal Market with a biggish supermarket just 7 minutes walk down the hill. The town centre and harbour are a 20 minute walk away.
Happy Hour from 1700 to 1800 is extremely popular, but the regular prices for a 4* hotel are very reasonable. Just 7 Euros for a litre of house red in the restaurant.
We were there in the 'off season'. The restaurant might feel a bit crowded and hectic in peak season. The excellent coffee machines at breakfast take their time, just four dispensing stations. No complaints about the food. Good choice with plenty of local dishes.
Do try and take at least one of the many tours on offer. Masca/Garachico is lovely day out with stunning scenery. If you are not with a tour group, we can recommend Informacion Turistica in Calle Cupido.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a quick 4 night get away while visiting family in the U.K. Firstly, the flight out of Cardiff on Whizz was very good. I think I was really fortunate as all around me flights were being rescheduled and cancelled. We went out relatively on time and I found the service and crew to be very good. Its a long bus trip northward to Puerto de la Cruz out of Tenerife south. (Hour and a half to two hours) It was very late when I got to the hotel. Check in was swift and pleasant. My room was on the third floor. Lovely and large with a great view over the pool area and mountains in the distance. Huge bed and spotlessly clean. After a really long day of travelling, it was a pleasant surprise to find a bottle of bubbly chilling in the fridge!!
I had the bed and breakfast option and the breakfast buffet was plentiful and varied. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancakes and lots of other options. The staff I encountered were all very pleasant but a big shout out to the room cleaning staff as they were unfailingly cheerful and always smiling. I had a really pleasant stay here.
The only negative for me was the distance to town. I never did make it to the beach. It is quite a walk to town although the hotel does have a free bus that runs several times a day. The walk down is ok but the walk back can be a deal breaker if you have issues with mobility as its all uphill.

We booked this hotel on the strength of generally very positive reviews on Trip Advisor and we were very pleased that we did. The hotel is really nice, clean, spacious, lovely room and the staff were all lovely and very helpful. Great setting and the hot tubs were fun and one of the pools was heated sufficiently to encourage swimming in January. Very wide choice at breakfast and on the occasions we ate in the restaurant in the evening, l particularly enjoyed the wide choice of salads and was far too tempted by the desserts. There is a complimentary bus service into town but if you want to walk there, you can do so through Taoro Park which is beautiful and gives you a great view of the town. Musical entertainment every evening in the bar area and happy hour drinks from 5-6. The bar staff were delightful and very entertaining. Really happy with our week there and if we return to Puerto de la Cruz again, this would definitely be our first choice of where to stay.

The breakfast options were really good. They had really nice pancakes and other dessert options. The views were amazing from my room and from the restaurant. From the restaurant you can see Mount Teide summit as long as the sky is clear. From the bedroom I could see other mountains, beautiful palm trees, the swimming pools, the sea, the main town. The hotel is at a high viewpoint which helps with the scenery. Although this makes the walk back from the main town a struggle up the hill, but the walk is definitely good. It takes about 15-20 mins to walk to town. They have a 5 to 6 free shuttles buses per weekday to Puerto de la Cruz. There's no free buses on Sunday and Saturday is a limited service.
The car park is small, and we'd get back too late for it. But I was always able to find street parking nearby in March. If you're hiring a car, this hotel is ideal as it is not in the main town, where parking is very limited.
The hotel has a very nice gym, tennis court, mini golf area. I was very impressed with the pool area. There are 4 pools and they are arranged nicely around nice trees.
The bathroom has 2 sinks which was handy for both of us. The balcony views were lovely. The beds were comfortable. The hotel room is a little old fashioned but there were still some modern elements such as the bathroom. The hotel is very clean.
I really liked the main lift as you can see it move up from the front of the hotel. The outside lighting was lovely. Overall I'd stay there again.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a week on a half-board basis with my 12-year-old son. The hotel itself is impressive and immaculate, both inside and out. The pool area is excellent, with plenty of loungers and a great sun trap.
We stayed in room 265, a twin/double with views overlooking the tennis court, crazy golf, and the sea. The room was spotless but felt dated and wasn’t very soundproof. The balcony was spacious, but we didn’t use it much due to the constant smoke from neighboring rooms. While the AC was quiet and kept the room comfortably cool, the WiFi was so poor that the only reliable signal was in the bathroom, which needs improvement. The bathroom was large, featuring a shower, bath, and twin sinks, with no major complaints. The cleaning staff were good, though not exceptional.
The food was a major disappointment. My son ended up eating mostly chips and rice due to the limited options, and breakfast wasn’t much better. We even opted to dine outside the hotel occasionally. Additionally, it was frustrating to be charged €3.70 for a bottle of water with meals. The waiting staff were generally rude and unwelcoming.
Despite these issues, we had a great time overall. The hotel is within easy walking distance to town, which is vibrant with shops, restaurants, and cafes. If you enjoy ice cream, you're in for a treat!

We did a midweek break here in July and noticed straightaway the hotel was impeccably clean and very quiet.
Location is fine. We went for Loro Parque mainly and it was a 15-20 minute walk, there is also a nice beach next to Loro Parque. Lots of people moan about the hills but presumably they are just very lazy.
No towels on sun beds, large pools with lots of sun beds around and 2 heated hot tubs. The only issue we had was other guests sitting in the hot tubs for hours on end. To give the lifeguard credit, he did ask them to move more than once but they just swapped with the the people in the other hot tub so it was a waste of time. There also seemed to be water aerobics, unfortunately this wasn’t advertised and we would have loved to have joined in which was a shame.
Breakfast was nice. Something a bit different everyday. Evening meal left a lot to be desired. Maybe we are just picky but it seemed a lot of random items rather than meals.
Can’t comment on the staff really, we didn’t have much interaction with them.
Bar prices aren’t bad and happy hour is 2 for 1 (5-6pm).
As above, the whole hotel is spotlessly clean. Our room was much nicer than we expected. We would stay again but unfortunately the hotel doesn’t do rooms for 4 so we will be looking elsewhere.

I believe you can on the balcony but you are liable to upset your neighbours if they are smoke free!
Pretty sure they don’t offer lunch just breakfast until 10.30am and dinner from 7-10.30pm.
