We just got home from our 7 night stay at Hotel Fergus. It was such a lovely experience.
We were a family of 5 (ranging from aged 6 to 84) on the All Inclusive option.
Our family room was a little cramped (it was the same room as my elderly inlaws with an extra bed in there) and there isn't a lot of storage space but the rooms are very clean and comfortable.
The hotel is beautiful, immaculate and you cannot fault the staff- every single member of staff gives you all their care and attention and they were amazing with my 6YO, he felt like a celebrity throughout.
The food options are great with a variety of traditional cuisines and more familiar options and there are so many different meal/snack times throughout the day.
The pool is a good size and they have a system in place to prevent the sunbeds being reserved which was nice to see. There is a pool bar open throughout the day and entertainment staff running activities like aqua gym, water polo, table tennis tournaments and much more throughout the day. The entertainment staff work their socks off and have so much energy in the heat, they put a smile on everyone's faces.
The evening entertainment consists of a kids club for 30 minutes in the evening, which my son looked forward to every night (musical chairs, dancing, games etc) and then cultural bits for everyone else- while we were there we saw a magician, a showband, flamenco, and an acrobat). There are plenty of drink options at the bar for the all inclusive guests.
The hotel is on a very steep hill and if you want to explore the area there are 155 steep steps down to the sea front however the hotel does provide a free shuttle bus service a couple of times a day for those who are less mobile or it is only €5 in a taxi to get up the hills.
The hotel is in a good location for Loro Parque, we went and paid on the door but there are people near the hotel who can book trips around the island. We got a taxi there for €6 and then there is a free road train between Loro Parque and the seafront (about 15 mins walk from the hotel) that we used for the way back.
The seafront consists of lots of shops and restaurants, the "beach" is rocky apart from a small cove of black sand at Martianez which has a surf school. There is also Lago Martianez ocean pool, however when we were there it had been drained and wasn't open.
The only thing I would "complain" about would be that there are no drinks facilities in the hotel rooms. So once the bars are closed, there is no access to teas/coffees/water. We were up on the 5th floor so even during the day it was an effort to go and get a drink if we were in our rooms.
Overall it was a wonderful stay, we would definitley recommend it for families.

Fergus Puerto de La Cruz.
I stayed there solo, the staff were very friendly and helpful, there was a full entertainment programme and the hotel was very clean. I enjoyed Zumba, Latin Dance Class, Bingo, Karaoke, games night and dancing of an evening along with watching Live Bands, the entertainments team ensured that I was included.
There was a huge selection of food during the stay, with freshly cooked meats of an evening and fresh eggs, pancakes, omelettes and churros for breakfast. There was a tapas bar, salad bar, pasta bar along with Spanish cuisine and a themed night every night. There was also white wine, red wine, sangria and beer on tap. The staff in the restaurant were very quick to pick up any used plates and turn around any used tables ready for the next guest.
The hotel was very clean with cleaners working around the day to tidy.
I paid for a sea view room and was on the 5th floor, the room was cleaned daily, hoovered and included shampoo and conditioner and a high powered hairdryer, which was a first! There was a mini fridge in the room and a bottle of water supplied on the first day which could be re-filled from the water machine during the stay.
I was always able to get a sunbed and towels were loaned with a €10 Euro deposit.
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel, it was well managed and definitely 4 ⭐️ quality.
A special mention to Julio on reception who made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived and Ana and Goofy in the entertainment team who worked very hard to make sure everyone was included and all was done with lovely smiles 😊

We were a bit worried about our stay because of the mixed reviews we’ve read. But, we’re really happy on our stay. The food has different variaties everyday, different lunch and dinner. On the day of our arrival the dinner we were not sure what is it, cos we didn’t check the sign in the entrance, the second day is Italian, then Canary, Mexico and other nights we we’re watching the football in some british pub around so havent been for dinner. The staffs are really helpful, nice and friendly. There is no kettle in the room and you need to pay 12 euros for the kettle but because we needed the kettle cos we have a 5 months old baby, they gave it for free instead. No toiletries in the room, like shampoo, conditioner so bring your own. But there is a hairblower atteched in the room which is I wasn’t expecting. Bring your own towel for the towel, cos you need to pay 10 euros for the towel if you’ll go out swimming, but they’ll return it once you have them back the towel and they accept only cash. 🤣 We book a room and added an extra charge for the sea view but it’s not actually a good view cos the sea is a bit far, you would mostly see the other hotels and town, down the area. The location of the hotel is a good one when you wanted to go to it’s town. It’s just probably 5mins cos there are stairs which is close to the hotel, which would be a shorter way. but because we have a baby in a pram, we need to follow the road and go a bit longer way, which is just 10mins everyday walking uphill and downhill. They have pool and evening activities with prizes, which is so entertaining everyday after lunch and night after dinner. Unli drinks and food if you go all inclucives. We went December time, so they have gorgeous christmas decors all over the hotel and lobby. Overall, the experience is excellent and amazing. If I woud go back to the North of Tenerife again I would definitely stay in this hotel. Highly recommend.

Just returned from a 4 night break. From start to finish everything has been really good. Reception staff were really friendly and helpful, the pool bar staff, especially Stephanie were welcoming and attentive. Our room 220 facing the main pool was modern and cleaned every day of our stay and the valentine's biscuits were a lovely surprise 🩷We were half board but took up the offer to pay a token amount to enable unlimited drinks with our meal each night. Beer, soft drink, wines and sangria to choose from. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and evening meal and the dining room is nicely decorated with helpful staff. The entertainment team throughout the day and night were very good and we enjoyed our nights in the lounge. The Fergus is on a steep hill and you can walk down the steps to the resort and back up but for a couple of euros you can taxi if you have mobility issues. Would definitely return and this is the 2nd Fergus hotel we have stayed in and enjoyed

THIS IS NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL. The hotel itself is strictly customised for British people, the food is- well… it is tragic, tasteless, repetitive and obviously made for Brits, if I wanted to try their tasteless and undoubtedly one of the worst cuisines in the world I would go to Blackpool not Tenerife. Bacon, fish and chips, beans… this is not something I would go for, there’s a very limited variety of Spanish food, no jamón ibérico, no sea food, on one occasion there were razors and mussels. Let’s write something about the hotel rooms, they’re clean, nothing too special, towels are changed daily, there’s quite often a problem with soap, it is not being refilled on daily basis hence quite often I would have to go to reception and request someone to refill it for me… entertainment is poor and the entertainment area is just way too small, no dance floor, right next to the entertainment area there’s a pool (cue sports) and foosball, which can generate a lot of noise… the hotel generally is overcrowded the pool area is tiny hence forget about a free sun-bed unless you wake up at 7 o’clock and throw a towel on one of them, then you might be lucky to have a sun bed. The staff is not doing anything about it, some people just throw their towels on a sun bed and leave it making it inaccesible for other hotel’s guests.
I have been to 4 star hotels all over the canary islands and without a doubt Fergus hotel in puerto de la Cruz is the worst I have ever been to, overpriced and overcrowded, luckily I have spent 4 days driving and exploring the island so I didn’t have to deal with the hotel and its’ guests… going to Fergus hotel is like going to Blackpool, awful… I am giving 2 stars because in my opinion this hotel is a 2 star hotel… sorry guys.

This is not subjective but face, this hotel whilst stated as 4+ plus lacks in every way, its more like a youth hostel, with hords of children screaming, shouting, running around corridors and screaming until early hours in three morning, without supervision or hotel staff dealing with them. The food is warm not hit and very difficult to piece together a whole meal.
I booked this hotel as it seemed geared to the more mature adults, however had I known this hotel extended stays to bus loads of teenagers I would have avoided, they are rude and unruly. The whole experience so far has been disappointing, I would definitely not recommend full board accommodation which is what we paid for, as we have had to eat out on several occasions to get a hot meal. Also full board does not include the full range of drinks, only a selection off the menu, extra charges apply for a range of drinks.
On a plus note, the rooms are cleaned daily and the towels changed every day, can't fault the cleanliness of bedrooms, however toilets in reception are not good, the lock broke when a guest was inside and she had to be broken out, the lock has yet to be fixed.

We went with Easyjet that describes the hotel as relaxing and nestled in gardens but our room like most was on noisy main road. To change to a quieter room costs £££££. Also the balcony door did not lock and fridge leaked. Food terrible including unsafe blood raw turkey and badly named food so if vegi careful because the margarita pizza has meat. Most food inedible and cold. Hotel bus service from hill top where hotel is located is irregular and impractical times. Often we waited for bus that does not run, so told receptionist that just shrugs.Don't expect much from the hotel evening entertainment. One night was karaoke only, the next just football on the TV and on another night 1 game of bingo and nothing else (and do not expect English TV channels in room as advertised as these do not work). Overall the hotel is tired and needs redecorating (please see pictures). Also our balcony rail shook forward and backwards. Unhelpful staff that say there is no one to deal with complaints. They say the manager may or may not be about at some time. Spoke to some Jet 2 customers who advised they were moving families out of the hotel to other hotels., Expect annoying rowdy and randy large teenage school groups (150+) , also running up and down corridors at all hours. Makes it feel like a youth hostel. This also leaves no sunbeds around pool with towels on floor used by the students. Holiday is not relaxing. Good sunbeds in hotel photos the hotel charges extra for. Playground for children as advertised is currently closed.

Ok let's start with good bit. The hotel rooms are spacious with nice bathrooms and cleaners come around almost daily but not all of them actually do cleaning. They just tity up Ur dirty bed sheets and don't change dirty towels. High levels were very dusty. The food is not wow but not bad but they cook at a slow ace n in small quantities so sometimes u need to be in a queue for crowd favourites. The areas around the pools are not cleaned. The upstairs pool particularly has hair dust leaves dead insect as early as 11 when it actually opens to people. Evening entertainment is ok some days ,I was there 10days and only 3 nights had some form of performance. Key cards were awful if u have them nowhere near Ur gone it won't let u in the room . Pool beds are hard to come by. Car par was 15euros a day which is a bit much considering we were hotel guests. But all in all I had a good holiday and to be honest I will stay here again cus rooms are decent hotel is generally clean and most of the staff are helpful and it's close to restaurants and shops if u decide to eat out like we did most f the time.

First off don’t believe the bad reviews!!
We stayed for 5 days and seen the New Year in at the hotel. We arrived and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were on Floor 4 in a superior room with pool view. The room was clean, airy and spacious. Plenty of hanging space for clothes. Bathroom was clean, plenty of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand wash and lotion and most importantly toilet roll. Towels were changed daily, rooms cleaned thoroughly and beds made daily as well. An hour after we arrived we received a call to the room to check everything was ok and we were happy with our room- lovely personal touch. There was also a large bottle of water in the fridge on arrival.
We were all inclusive. The drink selection was good, also included a selection of cocktails and the beer was actually quite nice although not sure what brand it was.. my partner had no trouble drinking it and enjoyed it everyday. I stuck to the sangria and it was strong and delicious. We ate everyday in the restaurant. Breakfast was probably the best meal of the day, with a massive selection. If you couldn’t find something you liked at breakfast then I would be very surprised.
However the coffee in the restaurant was not the best, but did discover the day before we left that the coffee in the bar was so much nicer! Tip for you if you like your coffee.
My partner is the fussiest eater and even he managed to find something to eat everyday in the restaurant. I’ll eat anything and thoroughly enjoyed the food.
On New Years Eve the Hotel went to a lot of effort with a lovely meal and champagne on arrival and put together bags of blowers, hats etc for the celebrations.
The entertainment on New Year’s Eve was good from what we seen, however we went down to the town square to celebrate. Entertainment as a rule was good but could have been better.
Only downfall of the hotel is that there are not enough Sun loungers for the amount of people staying and there were not enough tables and chairs in the bar for the amount of people staying.
We would highly recommend the hotel to adults rather than families although, they do cater for families with daytime entertainment but felt the hotel was more suited to adults. The town square is about a 20-30 minute walk down a steep hill but a taxi is under €5 down or back so not a massive deal. Plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from and apparently a fantastic Irish bar called Molly Malone’s that’s bouncing but we failed to find it..
Great stay, friendly staff and would visit again guarantee.

We booked for a family of 5, all inclusive.
The hotel was beautifully clean, house keeping was exceptional and all but 1 staff member was polite and friendly.
The food was on many occasions inedible. It was well presented and look cooked well, but eating food that should be served hot either at room temperature or cold isn’t acceptable to me. It was like eating in a dining hall, which was not appealing! Snacks were only served and to be eaten in the dining hall each day too and it was only at these times that ice cream pots were free to the all inclusive customers. All other ice creams from the pool bar had to be purchased separately.
Pool, there were 2 pools to choose from, one which had a pool bar where the all inclusive guests could take advantage of the drinks package and one where you had to buy your drinks from, needless to say we utilised the main pool with the all inclusive drinks. The entertainment staff held great pool Zumba sessions, water polo and other activities. We had 2 pool closures during our stay due to someone vomiting and then 2 days later taking a poo in the pool. On both occasions we were advised we could use the non all inclusive pool, but we were forbidden from taking free drinks to it, or either getting free drinks. Whilst I appreciated this ruling under usual circumstances, I felt that the hotel management could have used their discretion and allowed the all inclusive guests to still get their drinks under these circumstances.
Evening drinks - it took around 20-30min’s each time you wanted to get a drink in the evening. At 11pm the all inclusive drinks stopped, but the bar remained open until 12pm. We were often told we couldn’t get anymore drinks past 11pm, and we’re not given the chance to pay for extra drinks.
I felt as an all inclusive guest that we were treated as second class customers, almost an inconvenience to the establishment.
Would I return to the hotel again ? Perhaps I would, but not with the food and drinks package.
We ate out multiple times during our 7 night stay, I would recommend that you venture down to the beach front where there were multiple restaurants with food that was out of this world.
The location of this hotel is not suitable for those with mobility issues, it’s at the top of a steep hill, but for 5€ each way you could get a taxi too and from the beach front.

They told us it was available at reception
You have to check out on the times that are agreed by the hotel staff. You can ask but they will store your suitcases and belongings in a safe area at the back of the reception. Me and my fiancée travelled whilst we waited for our flight.
Hope this helps
Only 3 of them which was rather disappointing. But the cocktails that require you to pay was discounted at a reasonable price.
