Was due to attend a conference being held in this hotel but unfortunately the conference was cancelled at the last moment. I along with my wife an 4 others thought well…we will go anyhow and make a little holiday of it. We are all so glad we did. Despite the fact that our group had diminished somewhat the hotel could not have been more welcoming and understanding. We stayed full board and found the food to be very satisfying. Mostly typical Spanish in style and very well prepared. Always something to suit everybody. This hotel does not off all-inclusive yet there is no need for it to do so as the cost of refreshments both in the dining room and in the lounge are very reasonable. The rooms were comfortable, well maintained and serviced. The roof top pool and outside areas are kept very tidy and are comfortable. The Gym and Sauna (although we did not use) are well fitted out. The sauna area in particular looks very new and fresh. Although the hotel is not situated on the ‘front line’ it is only 2mins from the door to Las Canteras beach which is stunning! A fantastic location giving you all the options as a base for exploring the city, exploring the island and relaxing on the beach. Our group of 6 had a fantastic time and found all the staff to be very friendly, helpful and attentive. I would definitely use this hotel again.…
Stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights in late January after signed off from work from our cruise ship along with two other crew members. And since there were three of us, our company booked us the triple bed room. The hotel does look rather dated but clean and well maintained, and so does our room, which was room 201. There is an aircon and to turn it on you have to turn a keyswitch (clearly marked) to the left of the bathroom door; it cannot be turned on directly using the remote control unless you turn the keyswitch on first, but we didn't use it at all during our stay since the air outside was cool. The shower pressure wasn't strong enough which was a bit disappointing. WiFi connection was super fast and can be used up to 10 devices according to the front desk. The foods in the restaurant downstairs were okay, no complains there. There is a bar and a lounge area where you can relax and chat, as well as a swimming pool and a game room on the rooftop. Staffs were friendly and the service was excellent. For the location, hotel is very close to the Canteras beach and about 10 minutes walk to the El Corte Ingles department stores. Overall, it was a good stay in this hotel.…
We stayed at Astoria Las Palmas from 14 Dec to 21 Dec. It was a budget getaway Xmas break for us as a couple. We paid £660 for 2 through Jet2 City Breaks including flights & half board at Hotel Astoria Hotel is centrally located in the city centre 200 yards from the fabulous Las Canteras Beach. The Hotel is 3 Star & it certainly met this criteria easily. Rooms are sufficicient but without balconies. There is a small swimming pool, sauna & gym on the hotel roof as well as a very cheap bar (less than £2 for pint of locally brewed lager) Rooms were cleaned virtually every day. Breakfast was very good & evening meal was reasonable & comparable to other 3 star Hotels we have stayed at From the hotel you can easily visit many other places on the island We visited Maspalomas (Bus No 30) & Puerto Rico (Bus No 91) on the south of the island by bus. The central bus station is located in the harbour area near where the Cruise ships dock & is only a 10 minute walk from the the Hotel We also visited the old town of Las Palmas (Bus No 1&12) which is definately worth a visit. The Las Canteras Beach runs for about 2-3 miles along the front of the city & for a city beach is absolutely fabulous. It is kept impeccably clean & you can hire 2 sun beds for circa £4 for the day. There are loads of restaurants, bars & shops in the city to keep you entertained during your visit. We easily picked up snacks at lunch time at a reasonble price. The climate in the Canaries is very good all year round. We had mainly sunny days with temperatures around 22/24 degrees & not getting down below 17 degrees at night - so a very good winter break. We would definately stay at this hotel again for a winter break…
This is the second yearcwe have visited in December. Cannot fault the hotel or its wonderful staff team. Rooms are big and really clean. House keeping sussed after a day we had come for a rest and left our room till last. Went out for lunch and on return room refreshed for us. Thank you. Reception staff and bar staff really friendly and professional. Roof terrace although lovely is compact so unless you are a big beach fan you might struggle to find somewhere to sit out as rooms dont have balconies BUT why should they you are in a city centre. Not the best of areas but didnt feel unsafe at any point. Also quite a lot of building work so this could improve. However this is a review of the hotel and for us it fit the bill perfectly
First impressions walking into the reception WOW! Staff very helpful room is very good. Breakfast is buffet something for everyone and plentiful. Bar are relaxing atmosphere and cosy seating areas very cheap to drink here. There are sun terraces with a small pool and a fully equipped gym for the body beautiful people. It's the 19th December at 10.13 having finished breakfast sitting enjoying the sun. We are near to the beach and the shops what more can a girl want. Merry Christmas
