Detailed Reviews
I spent 5 nights at the Hotel Ximenez Alfonso Rey. It was a welcome sight after a horrendous 3 plane trip from the USA. The staff is exceptional: professional, friendly, courteous, and helpful. The staff always greeted me with an "hola" when arriving and departing the hotel. The room is large and decorated in monochrome colors. The breakfast cost 18 euros but was very good and included fresh fruit, yogurt, hot food, pastries, cheese, bread, and meat. There is an automatic coffee machine offering a variety of hot drinks. The TV screen is huge - I think 60" with mainly news channels in English. It took me 2 days to find the refrigerator - it is located behind a lower panel in the desk, accessed by pushing the panel inwards ( there is no handle ). The bathroom water was hot and all of the shower/bath amenities were provided, including a hair dryer. The location is ideal - a 5 minute walk from the Real Alcazar, Seville Cathedral, and Archivos de Indias. I opted to take a taxi from the airport at a fixed rate of 29.95 euros. A wise decision, as I watched others dragging their suitcases along the cobblestone pathways. I ate at 2 restaurants in the patio in front of the hotel: Bar Carmela and El Pasaje. Both were good but El Pasaje was excellent. I highly recommend this hotel.

Thank you for your fantastic review of your recent stay at Hotel Rey Alfonso X! We are thrilled to hear that it was a welcome sight after your long journey from the USA. We are especially proud of our exceptional staff. Their professionalism, friendliness, and helpfulness are a cornerstone of our guest experience, and we are delighted that they consistently greeted you warmly. It sounds like you were very comfortable in your room. The monochrome color scheme and large TV are modern touches, and we appreciate you mentioning the well-stocked breakfast buffet (and the cleverly hidden refrigerator!). The hotel's location is truly unbeatable! Being just a 5-minute walk from major attractions like the Real Alcazar, Seville Cathedral, and Archivos de Indias allows guests to easily explore the city. We're glad you took advantage of the convenient taxi fare from the airport too! Thank you for recommending Bar Carmela and El Pasaje - it's wonderful to know you enjoyed the restaurants in the hotel's patio area. We are honored that you would highly recommend our hotel. We strive to provide our guests with a comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable experience, and your feedback lets us know we're succeeding. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Seville in the future!

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel which I really cant rate highly enough. It is in the heart of Seville within 10mins walking distance from the Cathedral and Alcazar. It is surrounded by bars and restaurants so you don't need to go far after a busy day sightseeing.
The hotel and rooms are very modern (we stayed in a Superior) with everything you could need. On the roof terrace there is a bar with great views over the city along with a small pool.
The room was spotless and cleaned daily to a very high standard. We also paid for breakfast where there is everything you could want including scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon.
What is really impressive is the staff. The Cleaning Staff, Bar Staff, Breakfast Staff, Porters and Reception Staff were all fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble.
If we visit Seville again we will certainly stay here.

Fabulous hotel in a great position to explore Seville. We stayed 5 nights and would highly recommend this hotel. Most of the sites are within walking distance. Many great cafes and restaurants very close to hotel, we particularly liked El 3 de Oro, which was 5 minutes away and El Pasaje that was next door. An added bonus was the laundromat opposite which we used. We had a double room on the 1st floor that was very spacious, comfortable and quiet, it was serviced daily with toiletries left in the bathroom. The breakfast was very good with a good selection of food. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. A bottle of sparkling wine was left in our room one evening by the staff with a lovely note which was a nice surprise and a kind gesture. I could not fault this hotel.

The hotel is split in two so be wary of where you end up - some rooms appear to be shared with private apartments across an outside concourse area. This doesn’t have direct access to the pool/terrace/restaurant/reception.
The rooms are a good size, clean and modern but have one tiny window facing out on to another building so you can’t actually see the sky so don’t expect natural light. Tea/coffee/shower gels get replaced daily which is good.
Rooms are INCREDIBLY noisy. Every floor space in the building is tiled and there’s no sound insulation anywhere so you hear every footstep, people talking, furniture movements, toilets, every door open and close. This is the biggest issue for the hotel and would not stay again because of it - we slept very poorly throughout our stay. When I asked for earplugs at reception they didn’t have any and apparently couldn’t move us to a quieter room despite having vacancies online
Welcoming staff. Parking underneath the hotel is extremely useful. Great central location. Great restaurant next door - El Pasaje which is best to reserve.

We're a couple in our 40s who booked a double room for 3 nights in mid-January. First, the good points: the hotel is in a great location; the rooms are a good size; the rooftop bar is really lovely with reasonable prices for drinks; and the staff were generally welcoming and friendly. Now for the aspects that left us feeling a bit disappointed. We were allocated what was essentially an "internal" room with no windows or natural light other than a very slim window, behind a door, that looked onto an internal courtyard and the rooms opposite ours. We asked to change rooms and the staff were very accommodating, offering us a choice of two rooms. We chose the twin, reassured (twice) that, the next day, the beds would be made up into a single, double bed. That didn't happen. When we called reception that afternoon, we were told by a somewhat abrupt member of staff that it was too late and we needed to tell them in the morning. We did so. And, no, they still didn't do it the next day. Either the reception staff forgot, or ignored us, or the housekeeping staff forgot or ignored the reception staff. Either way, we were stuck with twin beds. Some rooms (like the first one we were allocated) came with coffee machines. Others (like the one we eventually chose) didn't - just a kettle and some sad sachets of instant, decaffeinated coffee. Some rooms (based on the housekeeping trolley in the hall) received slippers. Others (like ours), did not, and the floor in the room was cold. No, none of these issues are showstoppers and, yes, we probably would consider staying there again. But this is a 4 star hotel, and things like this can make a difference, especially when staff promise you something on three separate occasions and never deliver.

Fantastic hotel. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Housekeeping call in everyday and replenish water coffee and service rooms to a very high standard. Room overlooking the small square which was charming. Staff exceptional. Excellent location you can walk everywhere in the old city. Lots of fabulous restaurants nearby. La Bartola next door is superb. Also restaurants in square perfect for a dessert glass of wine or a liqueur after dinner.

I have recently returned from a 5 night stay here and can honestly say I have never stayed in a hotel with more friendly or helpful staff in all areas. A special mention to Ines on reception (sorry f I have spelt your name wrong) who was so patient and kind in helping us book tickets and recommending places to visit and to Wiam in the breakfast room who greeted us every morning with her warm bright smile and cheerful demeanour and I’d also like to mention the housekeeping staff who work so hard but were always friendly and accommodating.
Our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable and the hotel was in a great location.
The only tip I would give to light sleepers like me is bring some good earplugs as the soundproofing in the hotel isn’t the best (although I didn’t hear any street noise). This hotel would still be my first choice though if I visit Seville again, which I hope to do one day as I fell in love with this city and its people,

Thank you for your wonderful review of Hotel Rey Alfonso X! It sounds like you had an exceptional stay, and we are thrilled to hear that. We take great pride in our friendly and helpful staff across all departments. A special mention of Inés (hopefully spelled correctly) at reception, Wiam in the breakfast room, and the housekeeping staff is a testament to their dedication to guest satisfaction. Their attentiveness in helping you book tickets, recommend places to visit, and greet you warmly every morning truly elevates the guest experience. We're glad your room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and that the hotel's location was perfect for your explorations. Your valuable tip regarding the soundproofing for light sleepers is appreciated. While we strive to minimize noise, we understand some guests might benefit from earplugs. We will consider incorporating this information into our guest communication materials. Despite the soundproofing note, Hotel Rey Alfonso X would still be your first choice for a return visit – that's the ultimate compliment! We are delighted you fell in love with Seville and its people, and we hope to welcome you back again someday. Thank you again for choosing Hotel Rey Alfonso X. We wish you all the best in your future travels!

The location of the hotel is great, a short walk from the main tourist attractions, bars, restaurants and shops.
The room has everything you need, a comfortable bed, toiletries, safe etc and cleaned every day.
We had breakfast at the hotel every morning which was fantastic. A great selection of meat, cheeses, fruit, hot food (tortilla, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages etc) and pastries. While the breakfast was great, it was unfortunate that the fried smell from the kitchen made it to our room which wasn't the nicest way for your room to smell every morning.
Sleeping beyond 7am at this hotel is impossible. I have never stayed somewhere with such poor soundproofing before. You could hear everything from the bathroom next door, which isn't an issue during the day but when someone has a shower at 6am you can forget being able to sleep! You can also hear breakfast preparation from below too, plates and cutlery being put out etc.
We had an internal window with a view of the dining room below. Unfortunately this meant the area outside was illuminated at all times and the curtains were not great at preventing light coming through so the room was not particularly dark when trying to sleep.
Overall the hotel itself is great but unfortunately I cannot recommend based on lack of sleep.

Thank you for your review of our hotel. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, both the positive and the negative. We are happy to hear that you liked the hotel's location, its proximity to attractions, bars, restaurants, and shops. We also appreciate you mentioning the comfortable bed, amenities, daily housekeeping, and fantastic breakfast selection. We sincerely apologize for the noise disturbance and light pollution that affected your sleep. We understand how important a good night's rest is, and we are disappointed that our soundproofing and curtains were inadequate in your room. Your feedback about the breakfast smell traveling to the rooms is valuable. We will investigate this issue and see if there are improvements we can make to the ventilation system. We take all guest feedback seriously, and we will use yours to discuss potential improvements to our soundproofing and window coverings. Unfortunately, we understand that based on the sleep disruption, you wouldn't recommend our hotel at this time. We hope that the improvements we will consider implementing will allow us to provide a better experience for future guests. Thank you again for your feedback. We wish you all the best in your travels.

Here are pictures from our hotel room, on the night of our arrival, on the next morning, and on the last day of our stay.
The location is within Barrio Santa Cruz, minutes from the cathedral, with lots of restaurants around at various price points and sophistication levels.
The room is (relatively) large, modern and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is fresh, nutritious, sumptuous and is attended to by a professional and friendly staff.

The hotel is outstanding in every aspect. From the arrival at reception until it’s time to leave. We have stayed here several times and will again this year. We have tried other hotels including the gran melia but this is by far the best and wouldn’t choose to stay anywhere else. The hotel is clean, the rooms are spacious, the staff are amazing and the rooftop pool and bar a bonus. It’s very central and surrounded by restaurants and bars. I have seen other posts about the taxi’s we always use Cabify from the airport and throughout our stay, just put your location and destination in google maps and you can see the price. You can pay cash or card and never waited longer than 5 minutes, you get sent the car, registration and a picture of the driver along with the price. So much cheaper than the taxi’s. We paid 14 euros from the airport and 15 on the return.
