Our stay at the Melia Granada was wonderful. The bedrooms and bathrooms were exemplary, as was breakfast. The staff was attentive and welcoming. We were there during the weekend before Ash Wednesday, so the locals partied until 4:00 to 5:00 in the morning so it was a bit noisy, but that is part of the culture.

We had a nice stay at the Melia Granada for two nights in March. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The breakfast was very good and the hotel was in a very good location to central Granada. The only reason this hotel didn’t get five stars from me was that you could hear the people next door.

This hotel is very convenient for bars and restaurants. The Alhambra is within walking distance. Alternatively you can take the bus which is nearby. The hotel itself was very pleasant, breakfast was enjoyable and the staff were helpful. The one negative is that the bedroom was a bit soul less and would benefit from having a bright picture on the walls. But I would definitely stay here again if returning to Granada.

The overall stay at this Meliá was a big disappointment. Although it's been here for ages, now it got stuck in the past. The only positive things that are worth mentioning were the location which is excellent, the bed and the lobby. As the hotel has many different rooms and bathrooms with old and new decor, large and small, I am reviewing the premium king renovated room on the 5th floor. To get there you have to use one of the two lifts which are slow and time consuming. I have been a platinum member for many years, and I know what to expect, or what I might be offered complimentary. Also the ckeckin and checkout times are more flexible. Those perks are being cut off heavily. I arrived to the hotel at 1340 and my room was not ready. I requested another room but was given one only after complaining. My bed preferences and type of room or allocation of it were not observed. I had to change the room once I found out I was given two singles pushed together (one person, paying full double room price). When I mentioned that to the blond lady at the reception, she said they didn't know my preferences, nor my status. (it was clearly written on the booking remarks anyway but it seems nobody cares). The room itself was ok, plain empty space with really minimum amount of furniture, empty walls, no armchair, no tea table, no city info...Tea and coffee facility were very basic. The bed was large, comfortable and the linen was crispy and of a good quality. There was no iron nor a cupboard, just small space with empty shelves. There was only one bathrobe and one pair of slippers for a double room! I also missed a block of paper with a pen! The TV was ok with many channels but the remote control was blocked, so there was no possibility to change the language of the movies, contrast, subtitles....For a non-spanish speaking guests (Granada has 80% of foreign tourists) that might be a problem and is unacceptable as all the programmes are in Spanish. The bathroom was clean and well maintained, however it was at least 30 years old. No toiletries on display at all, they were replaced with fix bottles of shampoo and gel. When I asked for a set of amenities I was given the shaving and teeth kit. In my opinion, a compete set of ammeneties has to be placed in each bathroom, I don't need to ask for it, it has to be there no matter what! I didn' t experience any noise whatsoever, although the gap beneath the door let the light in. The curtains did not close the window completely either. The breakfast was ok but I expected more. The quality of orderd food was a bit low, the staff there were not as attentive as it should have been (some of them checking their private messages on the phones). The lobby and the bar were very nice and cozy but with limited times and seating. What really made me very disappointed was lack of attention, ignoring attitude and the customer satisfaction compliance and no communication between the staff and the management. Why do I have to deal with 3 different people for the same matter or why do I have to explain over and over again the same stuff when another person is involved? For example, I had to request the welcome pack twice, if that should have been already in the room beforehand. I got one bottle of water for a double room too. Nobody cares to check the preferences before arrival.. Those mistakes cannot be tolerated. I was also surprised how they dealt with requests, but never followed up on them. It seemed as nobody cared, they already charged the rate and off you go. When I was given the wrong information at check in, nobody cared, nobody apologised, nobody wanted to make it right. Those of you, who are platinum and diamond members in other hotel chains, you know what you get and why. It seems Meliá is downgrading everything and it is just a matter of time, when they will start charging for sheets or towels too. Meliá is definitely not what it used to be 20 years ago. Spend yourself some euros and get a better and a cheaper accomodation elsewhere! Platinum status is worth nothing anymore.
