DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU'RE EXPECTING A 5-STAR HOTEL. The bed (2 twins pushed together to try to make up a king) was EXTREMELY uncomfortable - just imagine the beds provided in a college dorm - hard and springy. The linens also were thin, cheap, and stiff - the funniest thing was that the hotel got their cheap stiff linens embroidered with their logo. The room was ugly with orange paint, but the bathroom was cute with tile mosaic. Our nespresso machine didn't work and just put out water on 3 tries with 3 pods - I alerted staff after the first night and nothing was done. The only thing you're paying for at this hotel is the view and the terrace. The floor in the room was laminate, paint was scraping off and space was tight. There are no other amenities. There isn't turn-down service. Our room wasn't even cleaned the first day, but the 2nd day they came twice before 9am (after being told to come back after 10 the first time). The toiletries were some generic brand from a cheap hotel. ... It's basically a Best Western with a restaurant downstairs. I just had to warn someone after our horrible experience. This is in absolutely no way whatsoever a 5 or even a 4-star hotel. You will also be a 17-minute trek to the city and have to hike up a hill on the way back - I don't mind this, but others might. If you're still committed to the area, I recommend another hotel in the same area (there are at least 2 other nice ones). I wish I knew all of this before I stayed, but I wanted the view! Turns out the view is the ONLY thing they have. This stay alone has made me question what star ratings even mean in the hotel industry.…
Located a few minutes walk from the Alhambra, this property provides first class facilities and service. The reception staff, housekeeping and the restaurant and bar staff provided attentive service. Our room was spacious, clean, well appointed and offered a terrific view of the city and the Sierra Nevada mountains. It was one of the better places we stayed in our two week tour of southern Spain.
The 3 of us stayed for 1 night in 2 rooms. The rooms were very nice, but quite small. I am not sure how some larger people get in and out of the shower safely. I was hard pressed not to rate a 4 instead of a 5, but everything else was too good. We were unlucky enough to have no view as well. Or rather just a view of a side street. The staff were fantastic and we could not ask for more in that area. They were quick to help and to go above and beyond with any request we had. The view from the restaurant was amazing! Breakfast was also included and top notch. If we were staying ore than one night we would have asked for better rooms facing the city.
This was the first hotel on our grand Andalucia tour. We chose it because it was near Alhambra Palace and it had the perfect name. Approaching the building from the airport, you see only the back and it isn't impressive at all. Just a really large brown building that is bigger than anywhere else in the city. But inside the lobby is really beautiful. It's like being in the Alhambra itself as it's all tiles and intricate carvings. Actually it reminded my wife and I of Morocco more than Spain as we had seen similar designs in the nice hotels of Morocco. The views from the hotel room is also beautiful as you can see the city and also the Sierra Nevada, which is right now at its most beautiful with the snow. So we were very lucky. However with these grand hotels, it really is hit and miss. The best ones have the grand feeling and it is partnered with equally grand service. Meanwhile, most of the ones we have stayed in (we have a soft spot for old-fashioned grand hotels) do have that atmosphere of elegance that modern hotels just cannot come close to, but they also lack a lot in terms of service. This was our experience with Alhambra Palace. The service was rather poor and even snobbish, which was a surprise as we were hotel guests and not just tourists coming in to take photos. When we sat in the lobby for a drink, too, it took forever to get a waiter to come and serve us. This was too bad as the hotel is beautiful and you really feel you are in Granada. Bear in mind though that this hotel is at the top of a hill so you will need a car or taxi to go anywhere as there are few things to do and see aside from the Alhambra nearby. There was way more traffic than we expected in Granada too. Nevertheless, this is considered one of the best hotels in the city center. We checked out some other hotels nearby and no others came close to this hotel.…
A first rate hotel in a perfect location. Staff throughout the hotel are possibly the best I have come across in any of the many hotels I have stayed in around the world. The terrace is a fabulous venue for cocktails, or for lunch and the decor and service transport will transport you back to a time of elegant ‘grand tour’ travel.
Located very close to The Alhambra Palace, this hotel of the same name is just beautiful. Historic property that has been very sympathetically upgraded to meet the needs of 21st Century guests. The public areas are beautifully and the terrace is a great place for drinks/ lunch. The views are stunning both during the day and after dark. - it overlooks the city down below. Staff were delightful in all areas of the Hotel. It is a lovely walk down into the Cities Plaza Nueva. Whilst it is a steep walk back up to the Hotel, taxis are very reasonable.
We only had one day and night here but it was excellent Our room and the terrace had panoramic views Or room was elegant and comfortable Special mention of reception staff(young man with perfect English -he had spent time in Huddersfield!) He gave us perfect instructions and tips on how best to cram it all in to our short stay We followed his instructions and saw nearly everything! and he even popped out to help us from going out of town the wrong way the next morning Valet parking. -such a relief,,!
Great hotel with very nice, multilingual and professional staff. Hotel has a interesting history and welcomed some special guests. Very high hygiene standard. We booked a very nice deluxe room with great beds and nice bathroom area. Just 10-15 minutes from the Alhambra and Albayzin quarter. Enjoy a drink on the terrace with a great view over the city. Food is good.
We chose to stay at this hotel due to its proximity to the Alhambra Palace. It is an impressive building with lots of history and nice views over the city. However, our bedroom didn’t live up to expectation and would certainly not rate it as a 5 star. The room we stayed in definitely needs updated and not worth the price charged. Majority of staff were very nice and the main hotel area was immaculate. Breakfast had a great selection. If you like a grand building on the outskirts of the city then this may suit you. However, if we could choose again, we would opt for a smaller hotel in the old town with more atmosphere. A short taxi ride will get you to the Alhambra.
We fancied a bit of luxury, and to experience the amazing view - we were not disappointed! Although the cocktails weren’t cheap it was definitely worth it to be able to sit and experience the amazing vista. Maybe one day we’ll return and actually stay, I’d love to see sunrise and sunset from the balcony.
