We are frequent travellers to Marbella, The Gran Melia Don Pepe is a little piece of heaven and that’s why we return time and time again and have done for more than 28 years. We are already planning our return visit for September, celebrating our wedding anniversary. I find myself almost repeating my exemplary reviews from previous years as the team cannot do enough for you, the outstanding service is what makes this hotel stand out from all the other hotels in the area. On arrival you are welcomed by the concierge/porters who will take your luggage and direct you to the correct reception, the welcome we always receive in Red Level is amazing, (not just on arrival) but every time you enter the Red Level lounge, your guaranteed a smile and a warm welcome from all the team. We always have our breakfast in the Red Level the entire breakfast team are all fabulous and we love to see them all here year after year. What’s not to like about this hotel… NOTHING it’s 5 star all the way. This year l would like to thank Danny and the girls at kids club for entertaining our demanding grandson at kids club, he had a wonderful stay thanks to the team they really did have their hands full but all the kids that we saw were having a great holiday giving all us parents and Grandparents a well earned rest. Also a special mention to Saioa in Red Level for preparing daily our fussy grandsons lunch which was perfect in every way, made with love. It was great to see Abel back, we missed his friendly smile and loved having a chat with him as he buzzes around the hotel popping up everywhere, he’s a busy man but always stops to make sure we have everything we need, Abel has a way of making each and every guest feel very special. This year the Hotel seemed even more special if this was possible, all the small detailed improvements we noticed that had been carefully attended to, these we noticed and appreciated as this is such a beautiful place that needs to be cared for to keep it so special. This has all been done by a very dedicated team who under the carful eye of Noelia operates smoothly from the moment you enter this hotel. Noelia has to be the most hands on General Manager of all time, she is always available and we love to see her around and about in the hotel always making sure that everything is running perfectly. We know we could request anything from her and she would do her best to make sure it happens. The whole team work together like a family and I’m sure this is all down to Noelia the way they all respect her and speak so highly about her. We feel as if we have been whisked off to another world where luxury and service is all that matters. Location! The hotel is an important landmark situated on the Golden mile, you really cannot ask for any better a position. Walk down the steps from the hotel straight onto the beach, fabulous! Our room with private balcony and en-suite bathroom is situated on the higher level, floor seven with views of the Med and all the beautiful hotel grounds, or a room situated with a view of the mountains to the rear of the hotel it really doesn’t get much better than this. Serviced twice daily with everything you would expect from a 5* hotel. The restaurants within the hotel are fabulous. You really don’t need to leave to find somewhere to eat as you have it all here in the hotel. The pool area cannot be beaten, a beautiful pool surrounded by comfortable sun loungers with restaurants overlooking the pool with fantastic sea views. We really miss this place when we are not here and we always look forward to returning.

It’s a very nice hotel with beautiful areas. The service is overall really great. The price is also high so for the price I would say they should improve some things like cleaning of the rooms and pool areas. A little bit better attention and service around the pool would also be great. I had to hunt the service staff around the pool to get some water.

Wonderful hotel with everything to offer for the perfect relaxing holiday. We stayed in a Red Level Junior suite which provided fantastic views , the rooms are spacious and very comfortable with housekeeping doing a wonderful job keeping the room pristine. We enjoyed a substantial breakfast each morning in the Red Level breakfast restaurant which had lots of choice from fruits, cereals, breakfast and cheeses to a menu of options cooked to order , all wonderful. We had lunch in Bardot restaurant which had a wide choice of menu with beautiful views and great service. Capuccino also served a lovely choice of foods and cocktails with a perfect location to relax. We ate in Tahini which has the most beautiful setting and excellent Japanese cuisine . The pool staff are wonderful and ensure everyone is comfortable and looked after. The hotel and grounds are spotless and very well maintained. The staff cannot do enough for you and provide service with a smile. I celebrated my birthday and the hotel surprised me with a wonderful bottle of champagne and cake in my room , a really lovely touch. Situated in a perfect location with everything you could wish for on a holiday we are already making plans to return .

I travelled with the family (8, 4 and 0) for (what was supposed to be) one week of holidays. Things went down south from the moment we arrived as two of the kids felt sick and we ended up in the nearby hospital (good one btw) the first two nights.
Now, think about the situation, you are far from home -ok, perhaps not that far as we are based in Madrid but you get the point-, two members down, the rest locked locked down in a hotel room (more of this later on) and commuting between hospital and hotel.
And this is where the don Pepe team comes into play. From the first moment we got Devoted attention, special treatment, genuine interest and overall a feeling of being taken care of by a family more than by a business. This actually extends to all staff, waiters, management, concierge, phone attendant, cleaning team, etc.
You might argue that having contracted red level might have something to do with this but you can genuinely feel this would have been the case regardless. Having said that this is something I would definite recommend. We booked an ocean suite and the service and the quality was second to none.
We are regular family travellers and travel a couple of times a year to first class hotels in Asia but we rarely have received this kind of attention.
Now, the end of the story. We had to cut our holidays short and received all kind of support from the management with fixing the logistics. Our only issue now is to find a good slot to return and enjoy the full experience of Meliá don Pepe.

I booked 3 nights last week, extended to 4, and this hotel is quite possibly the best hotel I ever stayed in for overall experience. Being Ambassador level with Marriott, Diamond with Hilton, and many more, I typically stay in hotels 150+ times a year and this was by far the best overall experience of any hotel I can remember. The layout of the ground floor lobby, bar, gardens and pool has been really well thought out and very open and fresh. Red level room with sea view was again modern and fresh, but the most impressive part was the service. Even before COVID, this would be great service, but everyone in the hotel was happy, enthusiastic, smiling and did everything they could to make my stay perfect despite the COVID restrictions across all Spain. Special mention is deserved for the maids, who were always accommodating and happy. Waiting staff for breakfast and red lounge just the same. Every member of staff around the pool was exceptional.. specifically the gentlemen helping with towels and providing bar service. Nothing was too much trouble, and always with a smile. Of course I’ve stayed in remote desert islands that might be more exclusive, or city centre hotels with more formal 5 star service, but as said earlier, I cannot recall a better overall experience. Best hotel in Marbella and all of Spain for sure. Will certainly return. Thanks for a great experience

My wife and I have just returned from a 10 day break at this hotel and we had a fabulous time. We had a sea view room which was very well equipped with an extremely large and comfortable bed. There were a couple of minor issues with the in room tea and coffee facilities but these were very quickly resolved.

Over the years we have returned to Don Pepe hotel many times, The location is fantastic, direct access to the beach and overlooking the Med. From the minute you arrive at this stunning hotel you know you’ve arrived in a special place. The staff are ready to welcome and assist as you walk through the main entrance. Secure parking out front and a secure room key operated gate down to the beach. The bars and restaurants are an absolute must, service, food and drink selection truly superb. Breakfast in the Red Level is first class with a wide selection available again well organised and relaxed. The staff looking after us on the Red Level are all exceptional. Our room on 7th floor was spectacular, spacious and modern with a balcony overlooking the Med The overall service was excellent, nothing was to much trouble and all the staff were happy to help with anything that we asked for. We alway feel safe here as there are plenty of security measures around the hotel, the hotel has also implemented Covid 19 rules and reg’s to keep everyone as safe as possible, whilst not being intrusive. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Don Pepe to everyone, we love this place so much, we are already planning a return visit shortly. I just love everything about this hotel it’s faultless, it’s more than a hotel it’s an experience. Well done to all the team!!!

I cannot recommend enough this place for a short break or family holiday. All was done to make you relaxing. Cleanliness of the room and public areas was always perfect, not disturbed by the noise at any time, breakfast choice at Veranda and The Level could suit for any dietary requirement with large option. Warm welcome from Irene at The Level reception on arrival, being welcomed with the smile of Angela at breakfast and around in the lobby during the day, nice service from Lucia, Marta and Laura. Alessandra at Erre restaurant on the evening was attentive to guests. Alejandro the Guest Experience Manager was always everywhere and ensuring your well-being, without forgetting the 2 directors Rocio and Noelia who were also so welcoming and caring about my stay. This hotel is top class and very stylish. The staff are amazing and willing to go out of their way to help make your hiday special. Especial thanks to Sylvia and Maria who spent time with us. The chef was willing to cook anything we asked for and the breakfast buffet was wonderful.
Our TV broke down and within 10 minutes it had been replaced. Excellent service.
The pools are spectacular and I used the indoor one. Not too warm or too cold.
The only niggle we had was our room was directly above an outdoor bar area with dreadful music playing all day. This would be a problem in summer but we just didn't sit out on the balcony. There were a series of spot lights which made our room very light at night too.
All in all this was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and would love to return for some winter sun another year.

Just returned from a most wonderful week at this fantastic hotel. From the moment you enter the reception area you are greeted by the stunning scent from the masses of fresh flower displays that are replaced regularly. The check in was a breeze due to the excellent reception staff. We had a Red Level suite on the 7th floor and the views and room facilities were superb. Stunning bathroom, kettle, coffee maker, small fridge, 2 balconies, sofa bed, all in all a great space. The hotel is in a great position, directly on the beachfront. It’s a 30 minute stroll along the promenade, which is lined with bars and restaurants, into Marbella or a €6/7 taxi ride. The hotel grounds are immaculately kept and are a pleasure to walk around. The swimming pool also is kept immaculately clean with plenty of sun beds and a large fountain in the centre of the main pool and a lovely pool bar/ restaurant with waiter service to your sunbed. But, the best bit about this hotel is undoubtedly the fantastic staff. From reception, restaurant, maids, maintenance men, barstaff , everyone of them greeted you every day with a broad smile and a hello and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. It was as if every member of staff loved their work and thoroughly enjoyed working at the hotel. That said, the biggest shout out goes to the pool men. From 7am these guys are rushing around the pool, putting sun loungers in place for guests, putting up umbrellas, fetching towels etc and, even in 30+ temperatures everything was done with massive smiles and always happy to chat with guests and give advice about the area. The hotel should be proud of these guys. The one gripe I have about this hotel is the breakfast. We only stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfast buffet served a lovely selection of cold meats, cheeses, cereals, pastries, fresh egg and omelette stations which was all lovely but, their hot food selection for those that like a cooked breakfast, consisted of boiled sausages, limp bacon, occasionally soggy hash browns and baked beans, all of which were cold. This is not enough to stop me giving the hotel a 5* review but, come on Melia, when paying €7500 for a 1 week stay, it’s not too much to expect a decent breakfast.

Hello. Yes , they had an iron in my room anyway. You’ll love this hotel if you book a sea-room view ( rooms facing the mountain are noisy overnight if the weather is warm and you need to open a window). Have a lovely holiday and please send my love to the Costa Del Sol.
There are more places to choose from in the Marbella area.
